    lifting a se7en up!

When Paul Harvey and his team went to the Nürburgring 24hr race a couple of years ago, this is exactly what they used for lifting the cars onto the chassis stands. Jungheinrich, I believe
  2. AIUI, Caterham Cars tried this engine in a Seven in the early 90s. They rejected it because it was large, heavy, and not at all smooth. Sadly Caterham Cars believed that it was the then new Ford 'Zeta' engine. Shame, however it did leave the door open for James Whiting and Redline to step in and produce fitting kits.

Snake oil. Check out this thread, it may help.
  5. It may have worked in the Porsche club where there are very distinct models eg 911, 914, 924, 928, 93n, 944, 96n which are all distinct shapes. But with the exception of the SV, essentially all sevens are the same. All we're talking about are detail differences. The major differences in sevens are the axle, gearbox and engine types. Many people move between the variations on this eg people have gone from live to de dion, 4 to 6 speed, or xflow to Zetec, or even xflow to K. Ah yes, but which HPC, the real ones (BDR engined) or the VX carb ones, or the Vx Injection ones? Actually, it's better to get us all out together In the forums we have the GOGs upstairs and the UTs downstairs, that's too much fragmentaton as it is, this is a small club, even more fragmentation would be silly.
  6. The CVH engine was used in cars for the Swiss market in the late 1980s, possibly best to have a word with Caterham themselves for mounting kits, gearboxes, propshaft lengths, and other things specific to installation in a Caterham chassis. As there are more Westfields with CVH engines in the UK than there are Caterhams with CVH engines, you will probably find more information on the WSCC Boardroom about the use of CVHs in this sort of configuration. Are you sure that you want it in a new chassis? If you are trying to save money, you might be better off getting an older cheaper car with a Zetec already in it.
  7. Anthony, what do you mean by "nervous"
  8. The test was only for real HPCs and only if bought new from Caterham Cars Edited by - barry on 19 May 2003 13:13:00

  10. Hi, I'm trying to set up a computer for my Dad and the Compaq Deskpro 2000 that he's been given won't work with the Diamond pci internal modem that I've given him (it makes all the other extensions in the house ring!!). Does anyone have an external Hayes or USR Courier v.everything type of modem that will work at 56K? Many thanks Barry
  11. Not that rare, the deDion rear end was introduced in 1985, I'm not sure when the switch to discs was made, but if Nick's car is an '88 then there are a few of them about. My '86 car has them, they are the small drums from the Sierra and they have only overheated once, at Rockingham. The handbrake works too
  12. ...and mine doesn't have any.
  13. can you get a fog light in the right hand one and a reverse light in the left hand one?

Lee, I hope you are going to persuade Ezlizabeth to come out for a curry with us.
  17. If, like me, you have little or no knowledge of what goes on in a 'normal' gearbox, let alone one with a sequential change, there are a couple of pages that might help: http://www.pitechnology.com/downloads/files/Slinky.pdf http://www.haydndesign.com/pro-animate.htm Anyone got any others that make it clearer 🤔

    Trackdays next year

I did Rockingham early last year, and I confess that after the first two sessions I thought it was a bit Mickey Mouse, too point and squirty for me. By the end of the afternoon, however, I had started to enjoy myself a lot more and I got into the rhythm of it. It is very hard on the brakes, and I was enjoying it so much that I cooked my rear brakes (drums). It's not my favourite UK circuit, but it's one that I'm glad I've done and I would certainly go back there again.
