  1. Hi all MOT tomorrow and weird lights issue. All working fine earlier but one fog light out so I swapped bulb and now both fog lights out and passenger side tail light won't work ( but worked fine before and works as a brake light). have tried swapping bulbs but nothing ... anyone know which fuse it is (fog lights) under the dash mine is a 1990 Xflow 1700 Supersprint standard spec electrics not my forte so any advice much appreciated as I scrabble about in a freezing garage ..... thank you
  2. Evening all Going to do an oil change on the Cat this w/e. Can't find my build manual - can anyone tell me the oil capacity for a wet sump 1700 SS Xflow fitted with Oil Cooler pls ? Seem to recall it's about 3.3L (and will go off the dipstick) but helpful to know ! Thanks HWS

  4. I run on Valvoline VR1 20w50 and have been told that is the one for older Xflows but the others mention here as just as good
  5. GN56 DUA - on the A3 this morning, full hood on heading out of Guildford. I gavce you the thumbs up (Black Saab soft top )
  6. Morning This may have been answered elsewhere but I am planning to replace all of my fuel hoses as the next job on the car but have read conflicting accounts of certain hoses sold on ebay as being a) very good or b) useless. Can anyone offer (definitively) advice please on what I should buy (or avoid). My car is a 1990 unmolested Supersprint (runs on unleaded with Castrol Valvemaster). Thanks ! HWS
  7. Barry - Roger is spot on (what he doesn't know about Xflows isn't worth knowing). Mine's on 23K and smokes but has been like it since 18k miles - soon she'll be off the road for engine refresh but regular oil changes (with the right Valvoline VR-1) and not pushing the car hard has been fine for me...
  8. Cable ties, gaffa tape, assorted spanners, socket set, small mallet, assorted screwdrivers, mole grips, long-nosed pliers, clutch cable, throttle cable, brake light switch, throttle spring, set of plugs, set of HT leads, spare coil, insurance and recovery paperwork in a sealed bag, first aid kit, wiper blades, bulbs, wheel change kit
  9. Hi Barry - Good to hear it's sorted. Always useful to hear for fellow Xflow owners as I think a lot of us have experienced the same issue(s) at some time or another and it can be down to so many things !!
  10. Bank Hol Monday ...you were heading towards Godalming, I was in a red Xflow with 2 black bonnet stripes heading the other way to get shopping. Good to see you !
  11. Barry - did you get it sorted ? Curious to know what it was as a fellow Xflow-er!!
  12. Reply to #10 Sorry, wrong choice of words, yes a vacuum in the tank is what I meant. A few people suggested it when I was having similar issues with my '90 Supersprint. Turned out not to be the issue but it (the filler cap) was drilled anyway ...partly to rule it out and partly to stop any issues in the future. Barry - any luck with finding the problem ?
  13. Hi Barry I have a 1990 Superprint and had same issue , drove me bloody mad.. traced to carbs and also the igniter in the dizzie was faulty. Assuming that's all checked and plugs/HTs and coil okay then could also be: - crud in the fuel tank -Blocked inline filter ? One other thing to check - vapour lock in fuel tank. Next time it happens open filler cap and if you hear a whooosh of air inrush that could be the problem, solution is a small hole drilled through the cap itself
  14. To the OP - good luck with it, I'm running twin webers on my 1990 1700 SS. Just to echo what Roger said - remove the cold start gubbins (Weber do a kit) as soon as you can...those things are a damn nuisance and mine has run so much better since I had the carbs refurbed and blanking kits fitted. ee
  15. To the OP I have a Xflow (1990 Supersprint) not been modified but I use unleaded with Castrol Valvemaster (have done for 10 years) with no issues whatsoever
  16. Malcolm Just to echo Paul's sentiments - I had them on my crossflow (Paul very kindly 'freed' them once when they were sticking) When I had the Webers refurbished I had them whipped out and blacked off, car runs SO much better now the damn things are history !
  17. BTTT Someone must know the answer to this to help Paul out ?
  18. LOL Jonathan ... I KNEW it would be you. Top man thank you. Assembly Guide, do you have one going spare (or pdf ?)
  19. Afternoon all Does any kind soul have the settings please. Replaced my gaiters recently and all fine but tracking definitely not as spot on as before so taking it to get it done as about to do a lot of miles (hopefully) Car is a 1990 Xflow 1700 supersprint de dion
