  1. Ahhh Shap...near that most hallowed ground Sleddale Hall ( Crow Crag to those in the know)...Jake, Poacher...local type but keep it under your hat...
  2. Had a new anodized screen fitted last year but the salt has played havoc with the surround - I recall someone on here had the same issue and used a proprietary cleaner to buff it back some some semblance of decent order ...damned if I can recall what it's called !! Anyone had the same issue / recommend a suitable product ?
  3. Jonathan - here you go, can clamp either way to cool footwell or the passenger. As I say, not remotely pleasing to the aesthete but it works...
  4. Hi Jonathan Yup I'll dig some out this weekend. It's not a particularly pretty fix but it pleased a particularly vocal SWMBO moaning about the heat and she was very happy with the results so that was good enough for me. (and more importantly her !)
  5. Have to say - bit of a Heath Robinson fix this but it worked. Huge fan, clipped to dash, plugged into 12v socket and directed at passenger or into the passenger footwell and it worked a treat. Not really fancied wrapping the primaries :-/
  6. "Best current solution is Valvoline VR1" Seconded.
  7. Paul Hollidge did mine - great job .... before and afters below: Weber Carb Reconditioning Services www.weber-carbs.co.uk info@weber-carbs.co.uk 07976 985477
  8. Keith - check out Roger's post above on jetting. That guy really knows his stuff on Xflows
  9. to the OP Hi mate - I have a 1990 1700 XF Supersprint and had a nightmare with the same issues you describe plus a misfire that had me tearing my hair out James Whiting sorted the car for me but the problem seemed to come from several areas and the key issues seemed to be: - Carbs needed refurbing (twin weber 40s) - Plugs keep fouling ( now run NGK BPR6EIX and they are superb) - Ignitor unit in the Aldon Dizzy was kaput Hope that helps
  10. Just keepin' it covered man......keepin' it covered ;-)
  11. Yeah I was trying to get someone here to take the bait (no-one did)....not a bad car for a Westie in fairness !
  12. Is this anyone’s on here ? Parked up on the Park Lane Understreet parking in London yesterday, looks like a local resident going by the permit on the ‘screen. Lovely
  13. We were heading to Arundel via Chiddingfold and Petworth - both in red 7s, both waved !
  14. Thanks all - will check when I'm looking at the car this w/e Appreciate your posts !
  15. Hi Jonathan The cable moves freely and is fine. There are no return springs on my pedal (which I've always thought is a bid odd ) the throttle return spring is fine (and new)
  16. Morning Quick query... throttle cable snapped and have just replaced but the cable now has an annoying habit of popping out of the top of the barrel (see pic) and displacing the barrel (jamming at an angle until I stop an reseat it. Cable and replacement was like for like and cable is taut.....anyone had this/know how to fix ? pic is not my actual unit , just to illustrate issue etc
  17. Hi Nick I let my insurers (Adrian Flux) sort it - took about 4/5 days for them to source it (heated screen) and then I just drove in for the appointment and that was it. I have the old screen and will get a piece of plain glass cut and fitted as a back up screen.
  18. I refuelled for the first time today at a different garage - I must have checked and rechecked about 5 times before pressing the delivery lever on the nozzle.... I could see the guy behind thinking "What is this idiot doing" ...
