    I hope every body got home ok. I was a bit confused I thought the route was St Marys Loch and then Moffat via the Megget reservoir and the Beeftub?

    Should be a great run through the best of the borders but alas I'm well south of Moffat. Give my regards to Buck Ruxtons ghost as you pass the Beef Tub!

    I always have lots of the wrong items but consumables in the past have included a brake light switch and exhaust bobbins. I also find Scotsmen come in handy i.e. 3 kindly pushed me through Castle Douglas to a distant petrol station.

    John V I'll have to get back to you post lockdown to answer your questions as I never hang around for the test but head off in a courtesy car. I always take it in 'hot' after a circitous route to the test station which is only 6 miles away. However the car might sit around for a few hours before he does the test so I've no idea if a warm engine makes any difference.

    I ditched the cat on my R400d four years ago and it seems a bit freer revving and less of a plumbers nightmare. No problem with MOT's.

    Mike I've used the campsite at Ullapool and it tends to be breezy so that should keep the blighters at bay.

    On my morning run over Hardknott this morning when my Jimmy Choo eco sandals were cruelly splashed by a passing Chelsea tractor! Blow me if it wasn't Roger Abbott aged doyen of L7C no doubt en route Sharrow Bay for afternoon tea (£43). I rated a brief acknowledgement as he roared off.

    Alan I was told that the event will be continuing but Roberto has resigned as organiser so what the format will be remains to be seen.

    I'm heading back also and am now in Heidelberg after crossing the Gt St Bernard pass in sunny weather. Excellent weekend in lively company! Stelvio was crossed in bright sunshine and only had rain on the way back.

    The Bornio road was closed as of yesterday Thursday I had to descend via the Umbrail pass and then south over the Majola towards the lake.

    I'm en route for Como and about to pass into Austria and on to St Anton tomorrow. Just been checking on the Stelvio and Majola passes and both are clear about 16C at the Stelvio summit a while ago. So anybody with plans for the Italian crossings shouldn't have problems. Very warm in southern Germany today about 17C at my accommodation in Rothenburg .

    I'm told the Kit Car Solutions version is a Mazda part but seems better quality than the black CC offering.

    I recall Brian Johnston was recording a train departure from London sat in a trench under the tracks when he and his sound recordist were the subject of a direct hit from a flushing toilet. Heroically he finished the broadcast!

    I find a bowler hat comes in useful. GPS devices invariably let you down at the critical moment but I'm still biased towards Garmin. I've had so many problems with poor power connections I now take a power pack with me and drive the GPS off that if problems arise. Still wouldn't tour without paper maps.

    One of the CSR dipsticks I have is a s'steel rod with a machined level mark. Is this the revised version? (not attached to the swirl cap.)

    On a Dutch? plate probably heading for the ferry. Quite a lot of foreign plated classics use this road probably heading for the Lakes. I heard our very genteel village hall coffee morning was thrown into confusion by the arrival of about 20 Czech motor cycle tourists. They had to send out for more supplies of Earl Grey! One of the grand dames who provides the cucumber sandwiches said they'd behaved very well and hadn't spilled anything! Phew!

    Tour participants tout their respective glass cleaners on the quay at Bilbao. I think Neil has the edge on insincerity it must be the gloves!

    Ditto! Got home late Friday and out round the borders with Pauls merry men on Sunday. Now recovering in a darkened room!

    Glad you got sorted out Roger my battery behaved itself back to Bibao and with Neil back up country after the ferry. I decided to do A34/M40/M1/A1/A66 which was a lucky choice as the M6 was closed at Penrith with the usual chaos. Thanks also to Chris Wheeler (Uncle Albert) for subterranean fettling and acrobatics in the bunker at Pontferrada!
