Just booked this. Are people planning to go?

    Anglesey

    This is booked, can't wait.
  3. We haven't lost any parts - the only things we had to replace were the top bolt (broken) and the bottom one (lost). Everything else was there and fine. No issues since.
  4. CSR 13" wheels sold, CSR push rods and tracking arms added.
  5. Hi Steve, I don't quite get the last bit - £800 plus the tyres new - what exactly does it mean? the tyres have 2000 miles on them so technically they are not new anymore. Sorry for not understanding.
  6. Yes, here. A friend of mine has a CSR 175 and in 2015 we did the International Swiss meet. His bottom bolt snapped off and fell out, as a result the top one didn't stand a chance and snapped off. It was up the way to Stelvio pass (Italian side). Thank god the alternator feed didn't rip out and we didn't loose the belt. The car boiled and that stopped him. We downhiller it down to Bormio, found a garage, get it fixed again, bought some coolant and off we went again. The alternator brackets on Duratec need to be the part of the routine spanned check.

    620R cooling

Sorry James, I didn't mean to be abrupt, I just didn't want to beat around the bush with this, especially following a few comments in this thread. Neil provided the theoretical basis, me and Mark knuckled down and now it's done. It works beautifully. Hasn't trashed it on the track yet, but gave it a good run up the hill visiting rev limiter quite a bit (ZZR and wet road - oh dear!!, but softening the rear definitely helped with the grip) and the temp has been sitting around 80'C. More after Anglesey - I hope I'll manage to get the new gauges installed by then. rear water outlet at the back of the head with the knee on the bottom with new gasket: £100 brand new from X-Power engines - Piero is a great guy, but the current one on the engine can be modified as there is a 16mm plug that can be pushed out and replaced with 90 degree knee that is an OEM Ford part and costs about £15 on EBay thermostat housing - current part can be modified - haven't got the cost of the work yet. In order to keep things fully reversible, me and Mark have decided to outsource as a spare part (thanks goes to Chris at Red Line Components). The mods are: weld on on the stat face and blanking off cold permanent bypass from the rad, second hole and tapping the second thread on the stat face to properly fix the stat in two places, drill and weld on the additional tube above the rad return coming from the front of the car pointing backwards - this is the permanent flow circuit to connect header tank +/- heater. plus new gasket - £6 OEM Ford part. I've changed the stat as well, but not necessary. bypass hose - Ford OEM part - give or take £20. comes with clips the bottom hose from the header tank can be re-used, it just needs re-routing as the original space is taken by the bypass hose. Z bracket under the plenum chamber tensioning the throttle cable needs modifying (cutting off one corner) and mounting on the top of the brace rather than the bottom in order to create more space - costs just your time. I've changed the plenum to head gasket as I hate reusing them. Bravery of doing something most people are skeptical about.

    620R cooling

Hi Martyn, no, it doesn't. on 620R the heater has a take off from the hot rail (blanked off on my car) and it drains (through T connection to the header tank fill - that is connected to the bypass (hot side of the stat). With this modification you will place both header tank and the heater on the permanent circuit.

    620R cooling

Back home from the workshop - it works. It took me about 40min - traffic, A roads, double carriage - no bonnet and no nose one - the water temp never went below 70, mostly sat at around 80. All nice and warm when came home, time to start properly measuring some temperatures. I consider this problem solved and I'm moving on.

I have, however, managed to talk to him and he was very pleased with the result and I sincerely hope this impression will be mutual. More tomorrow.

    620R cooling

Right, all of the bits are on one pile, the car is going in tomorrow to a local workshop - fabricators and welders. the aim is to alter the current 620 stat housing in order to close of the cold stat bypass and add the extra tube to be able to connect the header tank fill and create a permanent flow through there. Next is to fit the modified water outlet with the ability to connect the hot water bypass.

    Garage 1 would be good.

    Gasket Sealant

I would suggest Loctite SI 5980
  14. Carbon fiber chins sold, CSR adjustable throttle pedal added.
  15. I had an issue with the CSR oil swirl tower. Spoken to both parties, get it obvious to the level of embarasing and then CC made the order and Titan did the work.
  16. No worries. Just wait until I reduce it - I can't imagine many people wanting this.

    620R cooling

Right, local fabricators and custom build guys visited today, the first guess is that the stat housing is easily modifiable. Watch this space.
