  1. Hi Paul, it might be helpful to take a photo of the sticker on the shaft (if still there) as it shows the part number.
  2. Mark, from what I can hear, as far as the regular bulb is concerned, the 7" headlight performance is far superior. Driving my CSR with lowered 5 3/4" in the dark always felt like driving blind.
  3. Blimey, Mark, the orange dragon is not wonky anymore!! Well done!! To both cars - there is something nostalgic about these high position 7 inch head lamps they just look the part. James - you are winning polisher of the month both arms down - the car looks VERY sorted. Trim work - never seen this quality invested into the Caterham interior. Good luck with the sale.

    My plan is to install the oil temp gauge (not standard on any 620 (!)) and see what is what. What I'm also planning to do is to cool the gearbox oil.
  6. Rear light clusters discounted. Just to repeat - they are the lights that came off my 03/2017 car together with coloured brand new lenses JAL supplied with the LED lights I bought.

    Neil, why not use Laminova oil/coolant heat exchange instead? We use the racing stat that is 82 degrees.

    Dear all, another successful day at Croft Circuit track day yesterday. Driving there - setting off at 05:00 on M62 over Pennines - raining all the way there and about 10-15'C outside temp - the water temp sat at 75'C. Average around 70mph. Giving it a good go on the track - when doing silly speeds the water temp went down to about 65'C, but on the out lap comes up immediately to about 80'C. When stationary in the garage the heat from the compressor and the engine oil (possibly a gearbox as well) bring the fan on again. It runs a bit longer than before but it brings the temp down. I think it needs better extraction of the hot air from the nose cone over the top cut out. An additional fan (or two - another one for the intercooler) might be on cards. I would wire them with the main one and as my car does not have a heater, I have a two step switch available on the dash. As far as the track day goes - I've managed to get a set of ZZS just in time, put them on, and it was a blast. Anything less then 24PSI and they were sliding around. Once proper pressure in, very stable. Journey home with stable temps without dramas. A cracker of a day.

    Hi Stephen, not at all. You payed me back plenty. I will take this chance to urge everyone who wants to see the ultimate car control and an absolutely measured control inputs to persuade Stephen to give you a ride in his Freestyle monster. The best Caterham passenger ride I've ever experienced. The car is sublime and obeys its pilot to the letter. The combination of car's superb suspension and Stephen's driving and you are in for some treat. The wider rubber front and back is the way to go. The amount of speed the car can carry through the corner is breath taking. Not once there was a sensation that we were out of control. Thanks to Dave and Simon for keeping the day flowing effortlessly. Also the chief of the circuit lady was spot on - lots of good advice about the tricky spots on the track. Superb day.
  14. Don't want to hijack the thread but is the common knowledge of camber, toe and castor front and rear? my 620 seems to have pronounced negative camber and a toe out in the front. Lazy to study how it should be.

    It is not upgraditis I'm afraid. It is making sure I can keep nailing it and knowing I've done my best to make it reliable. Essentially I'm finishing it off the way it should have been made.

    James, yes, this very likely needs to happen. The problem is - other projects are popping out like no tomorrow - new instruments, gearbox oil cooling, different intercooler air flow, mapping for more power and less fuel going in - the list is long.

    Hi Martyn, there is very little difference in non-heater/heater cars as the outflow from the heater and the fill side of the header tank are connected together before they are connected to the stat housing. No difference on how the mod works. The thermostat housing (the same as water outlet) is not bespoke, it is in fact a modified original part (even though for a speed of the process it might not be the actual part from your car).

  19. I see, the only reason I'm asking is that there were two versions - 45/45 or 30/30 and the latter is to have for the track.
  20. My car came with carbon fiber self adhesive tape - I would imagine far less hassle?
