  1. Now all we need is a decent Secretary of the Meeting. it will be bloody chaos ! Not seen these numbers for years. I hope you have someone lined up Graham - perhaps someone with lots of experience gained over the vast length of time competing. Something that comes with old age perhaps?
  2. James you will not have any issues with turn in using the 30/30 I would not hesitate for your use to select the 30/30

Just an update for everyone. I have been chatting with the organisers and we will run in our own class structure. So even if its not listed put down L7C Class 1 or whatever. One day will be on the original circuit and the other on the newer layout with the heavy braking zone just past the cafe. Not sure if I will drive but will be helping out. However nearly 1 3/4 laps is awesome. The car balance changes dramatically as the tyres warm and the second lap just feels like you didn't try hard enough. With new management, we will all be safe and have great times. This was Senna's favorite practice track due to the very technical corners - very flat and fast. The event team have already booked some experienced sprint marshals to help out so that the red flags will fly when necessary. Please contact me if you have any questions.
  4. Couple of points. These days all rear dampers are the same length. Front dampers only differ between narrow and wide track. Spring rates need to take into account the above, engine/weight, power, use and of course the damper spec/valving. Nitron Street Series are no longer available for the Caterham. Nitron NTR1 are not £3k. They are £1457.00 + vat With our spec. I can sell them in Nitron Spec for RRP £1325 + vat but in 11 years I have never had anyone ask for the regular setup.
  5. 8 Spoke Caterham Wheels The original 8 Spoke Caterham wheel finished in anthracite. New wheels – never used. (Described as Manufacturer Refurbished). Available in 6×13 and 8×13 Caterham 8 Spoke 6×13 @ £130.00 ea Caterham 8 Spoke 8×13 @ £140.00 ea New Centre Caps also available @ £4.00 each All prices exclude VAT and shipping.
  6. Richards points are correct but I will just add that the Tyres MUST be on the list. Not all Road Legal tyres are on the lists. A road legal tyre may be in list 1C or even not on the list at all.
  7. There are small spline diffs out there. A very nice ebay chap pointed this out to me when I was collecting 3.14 ratios.
  8. I used to have equivalent discs made for the front of the AP Caterham setup. It made sense as a business and I could sell them at £175 a pair plus vat. I had to order 120 discs at a time mind you and this stock would last somewhere near 3 years even with Race teams in the Mag 7 series able to use them. All the other race cars are unable to as they are not AP/Caterham genuine parts. Note above it had to make a business sense. When others joined the market and started selling pairs of discs at a cost where a profit could still be made but not one worth investing in I stopped offering them. If there was demand for the discs again I would be willing to order them again on a not for profit basis to club members. I would be willing to show my direct costs for the discs and not add any overhead costs. I suspect the cost per pair would be around the £80/pair ex vat and shipping. In order that this would be open and visible I suggest someone else takes the lead in ordering a bulk buy.
  9. Everything Richard has said is correct but I am with 7 Wonders on the DS3000. Still stops more agressively than the 1144 from cold has great feel and progrssion. I have used 1144 on all axles, DS2500 all axles and as currently DS3000 on all corners. I have also run various mixes of pad on the front and rear. Its been dependant on the tyre used and the the front weight/engine combination about which has been best. On the new AVON Slick compound and construction I am now back to DS3000 as I said but with the full bias bar pedal box. I could not run the DS3000 on the front with the Busa without that upgrade.
  10. Don't do it! The rear is under braked. Pedal feel will change to zero and be pants. Particularly with the big brakes you need more aggressive pad in the rear to try to balance things out.
  11. Once the diff is out we can arrange DPD or FedEx to collect your boxed Diff for just £20 fully insured up to £10k Be very very careful of the small print on the various online shipping brokers. They even charge an additional insurance fee and in the small print you will find it states Car Parts Excluded. Just a heads up.
  12. Always difficult to assess from video but like a couple of others above I think you have two issues and one is masking the other. I suspect pad pick up on the disc as the intermittent feel you get through the pedal. It can really feel like normal under a firmer press of the pedal but more of a light braking or trail brake action can make you think the front is going to fall off! I think that the sound is clearly a panel vibrating. Although I am not sure that they are linked. Do they always 100% occur concurrently? I don't suspect the suspension. Not to say it should not be checked. I very much doubt the lack of the inner ali sleeve on the front damper would produce that sound.
  13. I think you need to realise there are two distinct issues. You have the carbon plates disintegrating as one issue which in itself is an easy fix under service. However it is the preload washer shattering with the loss of all preload that is ongoing and not "fixable". This will always require the diff out and serviced to resolve. That could be every year it could be every 6 months or 2 race meetings - who knows.
  14. Malcolm I think the Titan is supposed to be 40ft lb. ("I think") Just try to find out.
  15. Steve Perks tells me his LSD should effectively not need service. I will find out more from him when we go in the next couple of weeks for our build training. Looking at my mileage is not really representative Scott. I do zero road miles maybe 1 shakedown day at the beginning of a season. The remainder is around 12 - 14 events x say an average of 6 runs. That's 84 starts. Side stepping the clutch at anywhere from 4000rpm to 8500rpm with tyres that are so sticky 90 sec is all they can take in one hit. Also during the average season, I would suggest that's just 84 min of very very hard driving. All I can say is Faultless.
  16. Breaking News! I was one of the very early adopters of the Tracsport LSD and have been using, selling and promoting it for nearly 5 years. Clearly it has hard use from me with all the hillclimb and sprint starts etc. We will shortly be able to offer a full sale and installation service to help SPC out with their bench work. We will be able to offer the LSD installation and service along with full diff removal, LSD fit and reinstallation. Ben Williams who works for me here will be doing the build work. We will both be visiting SPC shortly for training to ensure the correct work is completed. This will hopefully speed up the service available and ensure less down time. My preload started at 26lbft and dropped pretty soon as expected (as the plates bedded in) to 21lbft. Recently checked and it is still at over 19lbft.
  17. I think the Trunion damper is a little longer than the regular Narrow Pre 96 car. Pre 96 Narrow = 316mm
  18. Hi Guys It's the correct shout in my opinion. A tough position to be in but I think it's sensible. Lets have some fun when we are allowed out. Now there is even more time for upgrades and Suspension Service for all those who haven't in the past 2 years!. My offer still stands for all our club members. 25% off
  19. Hi Barry 275 front and 140 rear - maybe 150 if two up more often than not.
  20. Good News - We have a new valving spec for the Caterham Spec Nitron NTR1 40mm. This should really help with the ride for fast road use and allow the owner to use a much wider range of the damper adjustment than we generally find. If you couple that with the Digressive front pistons or the rear progressive spring set up it will transform the Caterham experience. Of course we can update your existing dampers to this spec at no cost at the time of service should you wish. Please call or email to discuss.
  21. Paul - Like everything you do get what you pay for. It would be rude of me to simply state the price here but lets say they are less than the 3 way Penske and lots less than a 3 way Ohlins. And these are Active!
  22. Paul I need to check my old emails with Hanns and he is going to look at the numbers on the springs but I think they are 225 front and 150 rear. We now use 300 and 225 on the race cars. These are the same dampers as used on the Pagani, RUF Porsche and Dallara Supercar.
