  1. I am not buying new tyres and will see you all on slicks next year :-)
  2. Hi James. Glad you enjoyed. You couldn't just post the same on Facebook, pistonheads, WSSC........... :-) I will be trying my own out in a couple of weeks on track. I will feed back what i find. I have set them up a little differently to start with following some Ohlins settings. Just to see what happens.
  3. Well its gone! Walked out the door! Didn't even turn around and wave at TM. It was not welcome anymore. So I had good check over the new class 2 lump. Just needed to confirm it was all within regs. A few bits caught my attention. It was very light without all the Gubbins on it. I could not seem to find the gearbox. My engine has one built in - doesn't everyone's? Very trick TB's but you won't be able to see the alterations once fitted. Very neat! The clutch assembly was very cool also. I think that will make a big difference. However the biggest difference will be the loan of my 15" wheels from the SV hire car and the new Dunlop tyres for class 2.
  4. I hace spoken to Powerflex this morning as they rang about another issue, The shank on the bolt is 3/8ths just as the original bolt size. Not sure therefore what is going on with your car.
  5. They did do for a time as the foundry premises they were using were forced to shut premises due to the land owner increasing the rent excessively. They have restarted production based on much lower volumes and less options. Still the CXR's are available again in 6, 7 and 8". I am also working on getting 8.5" available in the next casting run.
  6. Why would anyone give away they chemical make up of their product? Evans has now been around for excess of 20years - it was just not well marketed until they resolved the legal case against GM. Which they won and received Hundreds of millions of dollars for. It was at this point that the guy sin Swansea join the frame who happened to be experts in the Glycol used in cooling systems in buildings and heat pumps etc. I have seen the lab test centre and seen steel ball bearings in the glycol, water and many other mixes of coolant. Only the Glycol one was not corroded. I have now used the coolant for over 3 years. I drain it, strain it and put it back in. Yes I loose some but i also get no presurization. I was as sceptical as others that it was jungle juice. BUT it works.
  7. Don't have those issues with Evans
  8. No Jeff its the plastic they dont like. Ali bracket with sticky pad is fine!
  9. I have to admit to missing this in the MSA news letter of October last year. BUT it has a very large bearing on most of us. "The first image was captured at a recent event and it is believed that the device – or the fixing – was not in place when the car was presented for scrutineering. This would contravene MSA Regulation (J)5.20.5. which reads: “Be prohibited from carrying cameras/ videos unless authorised by the Chief Scrutineer and Event Organiser.” The MSA Technical Department also wishes to reiterate that a suction mount is never acceptable as a primary fixing, even if there is a secondary fixing. If a camera has an acceptable mount and the competitor wishes to add a suction mount to minimise the possibility of ‘camera shake’ then that is acceptable. The second image shows another mount abouve the rain light; the aluminium bracket is acceptable but the plastic mount is not. The image also shows the competition number, which does not meet the requirements set out in MSA Regulation (J)4." Here is the link so you can see the pictures https://www.msauk.org/assets/msanews541014.pdf Also there is a rather long thread on Uphill Racers http://www.uphillracers.com/showthread.php/msa-camera-rules-10217.html Lets not revisit the arguments on there. I understand the suction cup issue and whilst the GoPro item is very good its stil difficult to argue against the rule. What I do have issue with is the Plastic Mount terminology. Where does the mount end and the camera start? From the picture in the newsletter all the GoPro guys will need new mounts but you may need a new metal case which won't be waterproof also? For me with the Garmin Virb the mount is fantastic - but plastic - so rather than use a OEM tested and perfectly sound mount I must fabricate something which won't fit as well and will probably fall off! I have no issue with the secondary tether either by the way. Please keep your eyes out for a solution and hope we won't need to upgrade to a Race Keeper HDX2 !!@ £1500.00
  10. By the way this is not the usual winter wind up from TM. Its a serious sale. The green wellies are out and he looks like a real farmer in the landrover even though he needs a ladder to get in and out
  11. I have today spoken with Poerflex and can confirm their bush PF8-909 would fit my own car and a set of spare radius arms from 1998. The OD of the bush is 19.2mm. It is in 2 halves that are 12.5mm long and a sleeve. The length of the bush in the arm is 28mm. So there is a gap in the middle of the bush but the sleve passes through the entire length. I hope this resolves the matter.
  12. I Have put pictures of all the bushes up on Facebook for you to look at. https://www.facebook.com/meteormotorsport?ref=hl
  13. Here is the current and to my knowledge correct listing and diagram. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ukwg3ph3hu52es6/Car%20Spec%20Post%2096%20Watts%20Linkage.pdf?dl=0 and the trailing arm info is https://www.dropbox.com/s/j9461t0ox0yqvz2/Car%20Spec%20Post%2096%20Trailing%20Arm.pdf?dl=0
  14. I did pass on your info late on Friday - well after 5pm and they replied that they were different part numbers = different sizes. I have not fitted myself as yet - not done enough miles in this chassis. I have sold many many sets of the the bushes to both Watts linkage and trailing arm cars, Their CSR kit is wrong and I am working to correct that with them as we are down as their "preferred supplier" for Caterham part numbers and I regularly get customers passed to me from them. I have sold a number of sets to recognised Caterham specialist service centers and have never had a reply saying they do not fit. I will again speak to them on Monday. If you have more factual info as to diameters ets them please forward to me and I will check it all out. All the caterham bushes are now made from the same Polyurathane as the Black series however some of the rear bushes remain purple. The 903 was and is polyurethane. It may be of a different compound ie softer but it is not rubber. Yes I am an agent. Its not the point the point is that we need to know why Pendeniis kits did not fit when no others seem to have had the issue to my knowledge. I will check it out.
  15. The Powerflex kit has different parts for the front wishbones and the radius arms. Never had a customer raise this as an issue and some well known service centres have purchased and fitted -I am certain that they would have raised the issue. Also the Powerflex A frame de dion bush certainly is not rubber.
  16. Steve - I feel like I have been with you now Seriously now - not sure who is due to attend the various days of tuition/practice comming up at Curbs. I know there are a few I would be happy to attend if enough people wanted me to with my scales and spanners. I suggested to Curborough last year they could benefit from a "Flat Floor" car set up area which may well have been completed by now and Meteor will be the long term sponsor of. It will be behind the sign on office and hope fully with aroof also It may be opportune to let someone else have a go in your car just to see if anything is very ammis
  17. Baaahh BBbbaaaaaahhhh Mmaaaaaahhhh BBbbaaaabbbbbbaaaaa before anyone else suggests it.
  18. Service interval would be every 2 years. It has the same diaphragm material so I see no change between the Street Series and the NTR1's Thats £400 with out any re-valving! RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVALS The frequency of a recommended service varies according to the individual schedule received with the shock, however the recommended servicing schedules are detailed below. For arduous Race use, the service time frames are dependent on application. Automotive Race Use - Annually/Off-Season Road/Track - 20,000 – 30,000 km / 12,000 – 18,000 miles From my experience its more time related than mileage in our installation/use type. Yes I see no reason on a technical level why I can not revalve them. That would be a £60/damper cost. I don't have an issue offering this Tom as I am a Certificated Service Centre. The only reason not being allowed to sell them is financial and the margins Nitron would have lost out on given that most people purchase Meteor Spec!
  19. Richard. Having seen Steve at our teaching day at Curbs and worked hard I have to go with your last comment - Sorry Steve. Too fast in = too slow out!
  20. Hi everyone Staying within the posting rules here may be difficult but I will try. I have asked Nitron to produce these for the last couple of years. I was informed it was not possible due to the numbers/volume etc. Last year I only sold 1 set of Nitron dampers to Caterham owners and that was a specific request the remainder were all Quantum and Penske. I understand there was an administractive error at Nitron with regard to their overall Caterham Pricing structure which placed them as a more costly item than Quantum. I know that Nitron want to re capture the market they have lost and now we have the NTR1 Meteor Spec priced less than Quantum. Benefits These dampers are very good value for money. A quality product. Against Regular Nitron valving (not Meteor set up - I would say that wouldn't I - but I think I have justified the comment) The dampers will still require service on the same intervals as the NTR1. The cost of a service will be not far off the cost of a new set. Less volume of oil = higher running temps = less consistence in performance = less control. Oh and the main thing against them - they are only available direct - not from dealers even though I requested them. Hey ho thats business and I understand the reasoning and can not argue against it. I have learnt more about suspension in the past 18 months since having the dyno and servicing dampers than all the years before - the main issue is we all tend (ed) to fit our dampers and forget! However they are like an engine - they have oil, pistons, valves and seals. They need servicing and thats where I can help and where my business is targeting its growth - its not a secret - I think IO read that in Low Flying. So I am certainly not knocking the Street Series. It has a place in the market just like all the premium products an dampers do also.
  21. Can we throw the said driver with concrete in his suit into his duck pond!! I would make sure it wasnt to deep. Just up to his neck so that the ducks had something to sit on.
  22. DK at DT - sharpened his pencil for me. Better deal than the show today on a Simpson Hybrid Sport !!!
  23. You should see the knobblies he has had to fit now he lives on a farm They won't be that fast I can tell you - maybe he got the wheels mixed up between the Landrover and the 7
  24. I'd love to type a reply to this and make all sorts of pointed and down right rude remarks about MrD causing Curborough to spend all that cash. But I won't as its his birthday and I'm feeling generous. This does leave the door open for slanderous comments from others though.
