Gee Whizz
After having 2 new A021's put on my 14" Rims one wheel wont hold its pressure, after repeated new valves and tyres and a good dunking in a barrel of water. it appears air is coming out of the inside of the rim - right through the aluminium wheel!!! sounds like a crap casting to me has anyone else suffered from this? marshy
It happened to me a few years back (on a tin top) and I found out in the end that the rim was excessively rough, so air was escaping. Admittedly the wheels on my car were old and knackered, but it might be worth checking though.
Tony C
In the past I have successfully cured a leaking rim with fix-a-flat - it was a porous weld. I was doubtful it would work, but it lasted for the two years I had the car before I sold it
andy_h
I also have had this problem on 'old' rims (gf [now wife] Mini). The laquer starts to flake stopping the tyre from sealing around the rim. Note to self: when fitting low profile alloys/tyres to an already low car such as a Mini, make sure you can still get the jack to fit under the car when you have a flat tyre. Otherwise, car needs tipping up to get jack under 😬 White road legal 2.0 VX race car 😬
Nifty
I had problems with a set of minilites becoming porous after being refurbished. Ended up replacing them. Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Rob Morris
From my bulk buy days I can confirm that this is a known problem with Minitors. If they are not very old I'd suggest that you send them back for testing and replacement.
Dartmoor7
Be aware of the different companies from which Caterham have sourced 'Minilite' wheels in the past, never from Minilite themselves as far as I'm aware. Peter Carmichael
You might be able to get it polymer sealed. Try looking up the company Ultraseal. They have done cylinder heads for me in the past. 210 bhp Quaife sequential roadgoing racer - Click here for a ready to go bargain
