simon metcalfe
Will be refurbing my brakes over the winter and just wondering if I should take the opportunity to replace the braided brake hoses. Last replaced 10 years ago - no problems with them at all, just that one wonders about the condition of the rubber inside the braiding. Many thanks Simon. Area Representative DerekH Posted October 20, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted October 20, 2023 Simon, Caterham have this as a 4 year replacement on their service schedule. Brake fluid every two years. Worth it for peace of mind, a hose failure could be pretty catastrophic. My car will be 4 years old in January so I think I'll replace mine. 7 wonders of the world
The lining is PTFE, race cars change them annually as debris can ingress the the overbraid and abrade against the liner.

TomB
If you want to be thorough, don't forget the 3rd braided cable between the tunnel and de-dion tube.

ChrisC
Remember reading Caterham service schedule (in the back of the handbook) recommending 5 years. But I no longer have the car, so can’t check.
7 wonders of the world
If you haven't already.got.them.worth changing the rear rigid line to the calipers for a flexible too
Bone Rat
Agree with 7,replacing the rear rigid lines really made a difference. Now able to move the caliper without the inevitable dribble and the wear on the rear pad evened up. Now considering the fronts, mine have been there since 2011!
