One other question, is it possible to recover the previous message from the previous site? I only have new messages received after the changeover. Again, apologies if it has already been asked.

As per Simon's reply, if there is something important you need it is possible to get it, but only if there is no other way to find the information out.

I agree, and being able to zoom in very useful.

You have used 462.23 MB of your 488.28 MB attachment limit. "

edit: I think we have an issue around image posting limits - I 'm practically out of space having been around a few years. And the URL image feature doesn't work.

Can we have a library for documents please?

There's been some discussion about this, and I think that it's quite a high priority now that the site has been migrated.

I suggest two actions that will inform this:

  1. Members' comments on the current collection of Guides etc.
  2. Discussion of other sites/ clubs/ associations that do this well.

I have a large collection of documents that I'd like to add.

And we need to take into account the ownership of documents and what the Club should and shouldn't publish.

about the images site limit problem, I THINK Invision supports webp image format

so I have moved my long post from here to being a blog entry here

The two images shown one is 92% smaller than the other: can you see any difference?

Nice pic. Yes I have been playing with this the last hour or two. It seems if we paste in a link of an image it displays it, but if we attempt to use the  "Other Media" button and "Insert image from URL" then it doesn't.

So keeping it simple seems to work, but using the button menu doesn't

=============================================================================

EDIT: THE SOLUTION GIVEN BELOW is thusly:

Quote

dropbox links to a page where the image is displayed, not the actual image. Invision needs the image link.  As a workaround, I clicked on your first link, then right clicked on the image and selected open image in new tab.  I then copied the URL of the actual image from the new tab, then pasted in in the editing box and also tried it via the Other Media option.  Worked fine both times.

with thanks to "cobar" several posts below..

=============================================================================

and dropbox links don't, even if an image (this is just a webp image of test text)

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tf1eo52q8830766jh6bmg/TestExtwas.webp?rlkey=db2vj39b3sinasvvfpirc3m3s&dl=0 works displays image not inline

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tf1eo52q8830766jh6bmg/TestExtwas.webp?rlkey=db2vj39b3sinasvvfpirc3m3s&raw=1 goes to download mode

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tf1eo52q8830766jh6bmg/TestExtwas.webp?rlkey=db2vj39b3sinasvvfpirc3m3s?raw=1 no worky

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tf1eo52q8830766jh6bmg/TestExtwas.webp?rlkey=db2vj39b3sinasvvfpirc3m3s&?raw=1 works display image not inline

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tf1eo52q8830766jh6bmg/TestExtwas.webp?raw=1 no worky

 ?dl=0 to ?raw=1

and this does work:

Flat-rocker.jpg

from one of my web sites.

The difference seems to be the link ends with an image ext such as "jpg"

what's not working about adding images from URL. Here's an image I inserted from my website...

This may not be the issue, but I'll mention it since others may run into it.  Invision requires links from secure sites.  If you attempt to use a link with http rather than https, it will fail without giving a specific error.

The image I inserted was using the "Other Media" button. Though is was from an https site... Are there any http sites anymore? It's certainly something I would be very suspicious of 🙂

Does the image just not show up for you??

Thanks John. We have insecure image links turned off. Seems to be the sensible option 👍

Yes, mine 😮  I've been too lazy to deal with it, and yes, you should be suspicious of me.

BTW image URL insertion via the Other Media option works fine for me.

That dropbox link fix does not result in my image inline, when I can correctly guess how to apply it as the "?" is not present in my links

CLEVER!

Sadly Jonathan will be unable to go and edit the old solution with this new one. Perfect example of my case for not restricting editing like it is.

yes - there is definitely some potential to explore here. There is scope to expand our guides section, we can also potentially create a 'downloads' library of useful resources. There are some wiki type editing functions too.

A group of volunteers could develop and update what we have into an excellent resource.

Thanks.

Please could you point to the support pages for the software so that we can do some reading.
