Garth
I am hoping to try and get decent communication between a couple of cars on our upcoming trip to Sardinia. I have always tried using a cheap Baofeng unit but not been good! Cannot find anything on BlatChat, but recall people speaking highly of a Kenwood unit? Any suggestions welcome please and then also on how to get it 'programmed' to the frequency the club use?ThanksGarth
Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 7, 2022 Member Share Posted April 7, 2022 IIRC there's a fair bit in the archives. I'll run a search later. Are you interested in a solution based on mobile 'phones?Jonathan
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 7, 2022 Leadership Team Share Posted April 7, 2022 Kenwood TK-3301 (or the older TK-3201). PMR-446 so no license needed. You can reprogram if you wish but there's 16 channels to choose from and there's always something usable, with biker friends we tend to simply use channel 3. If you have an Autocom there's a cable available that connects it in to enable a push-to-talk switch to be used. The same is possible with a Bluetooth headset connected through something like a Sena SR10 which again has a dedicated lead available for the Kenwood.Stu. David Brown
Investigated and tested Zello app for a trip with friend on motorbike to Germany. We got push to talk buttons on steering wheel/handlebars using Bluetooth in helmet and headset. Unfortunately trip cancelled due to Covid so not tested in "anger".
