aerobod - near CYYC Posted June 28, 2021 Share Posted June 28, 2021 The most consistent method and the method specified for my 2012 R400 Duratec is to check with the engine running and fully up to temperature. The oil should be 5mm below the mid baffle plate, but if the centre hole just disappears from view, the level is right at the baffle plate height. Grant_7 Posted June 29, 2021 Share Posted June 29, 2021 I have an alternate method; I just whip off the bonnet and look at the sight tube that Stuart at Premier Power installed on my DS tower (Duratec 420R).Absolutely superb modification that makes checking the oil - an important task - both easy and reliable.
