Lambda sensor removal from exhaust

Going decat so need to remove the lambda (in 1 piece!). However it’s stuck solid. Any advice, guess I can’t use heat without destroying it?

You would want to heat the socket on the exhaust to make it expand, not the sensor itself. Electric hot air gun.

When I fitted my decat pipe I purchased another lambda sensor.  It makes the swap back at MOT time a simple 5 min task.

So you actually fit your cat for the MoT? 

Application on the threads of a high temp grease helps - Lithium or the like.

On that subject do you need the cat for MOT?

I removed mine this year just after it was MOTed. Was wondering if it’s necessary for the test?

I would say it was essential, assuming the tester enters the correct VIN code into his gas analyzer.

I once got one for 10EUR from a scrap yard, on tour in France, so that lasted well over ten years. The main issue for a new one seemed to be the correct length of wires and plug.. local auto electricians offered me Bosche generics with a gallic shrug ( which translates to "of course it fits").  Pretty much the one linked above..
