accelerator stop

David,

I was wondering if anyone had made a stop within the pedal box. Have you ever had the pedal end slide on the dome of the bolt head and get stuck behind the head of the bolt (on full throttle)?

I think I’d be inclined to fit a penny washer to the end to broaden the potential contact patch. You’d need to file off the square bit behind the bolt head though.

Is yours a K series? Just wondered if you’d read John Vine’s excellent write up on clutch thrust bearing failures and additional clutch pedal springs to increase pre-load on the bearing (I see yours only has 1 spring)?

Regards

Ian

Ian,

The throttle pedal has very little play and shows not tendency to slip off the bolt head stop. It feels very positive when you stomp the pedal.

I read the sage words on the clutch pre load and if you look closely I now have two springs. I borrowed the load calculations for the required force and used a digital luggage scale to measure the pull. I added the extra spring and now there is about the right preload.

Here are a couple of pictures.
