  1. Also interested subject to timings. Cheers.
  2. I received an email from Lucy in the clubs admin team last month explaining that the clubs track days complementary third part insurance cover enjoyed in previous years is no longer available for the 2023 season. I assume this cover was intended to indemnify any member against a claim by another participant for injury, death or damage? My own trackday cover with Footman James only covers damage to my car and excludes any third party liability. So, my understanding is that participants accept the risks of damage to their own cars regardless of blame or fault and arrange their own cover (or not!). Does the same apply to injury or death i.e. by signing the trackday organisers disclaimer, are all rights to claim for incidents on track waived? In which case, what was the intended purpose of the previous club indemnity policy, and is there still a risk of liability for on track incidents? Does anyone have a copy of the trackday organisers disclaimer we have to sign prior to taking part (Brands Hatch organiser would be preferred)?
  3. Thanks for the replies. In terms of taking them off the car - how difficult a procedure is it? Are there any guides how to do it? Also when putting them back on after refurbishment, is there a set up process to follow i.e. to set the ride height? Trying to decide whether to do this myself or farm out to someone who has the corner weight/wheel alignment gear to get the set up right?
  4. Interested to hear from anyone who has had their Bilsteins refurbished. My 2005 adjustable platforms are now 18 yo and in need of either refurbishment or replacement. My preference is to try and keep the car as original as possible. Would welcom advice on how to identify model/product number of my existing shocks (can't see any numbers on them) and also rough order of costs of getting the set of 4 refurbished by Bilstein. Cheers, Bob
  5. Hi Phillip, The 'long nosed shower caps' in the picture came from http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/. Very good quality products including a half hood roof I would highly recommend. I think there's a club discount on the members benefit page. Bob
  6. That was us ... just completed the NC500 with Classic Car Tours. Amazing roads, scenery and weather for the most part.
  7. Went to start the 7 the other day after more than 3 months standing. Fired up first time, but the mechanical sympathy in me winced as the first 5 seconds or so the engine ran without any lubrication until the oil pressure came up to spec. I'd like to fit an ignition kill switch I can operate inside the car that allows me to crank the engine until the oil pressure reaches operating standard before firing. Anyone else done this? I'd like to know which wires to run where. Car is 2005 1.8K series with MEMS 3. Cheers Bob

  9. ... yes, thanks. That looks like it fits in the footwell bulkhead. Does anyone have a photo of a stop at the top of the pedal box that works on the top of the pedal?
  10. Has anyone fitted a clutch pedal stop ... I suspect part of the problem is over-travel of the pedal putting a strain on the cable ends. Any thoughts on the best way to fit a stop/pictures appreciated. Thanks Bob
  11. Was enjoying a socially distant day at Petworth House today - just as I arrived, bang ... clutch cable snapped. Luckily had a spare and enough tools to fit replacement 'in the field'. Two questions to the wise POBC: a) the cable snapped at the clutch fork and I'm assuming the nipple on the end of the cable fell into the bell housing. I intend to have a ferret with a magnetic probe, but how worried should I be that the end of the cable is in there? b) when removing the cable from the clutch fork, I noticed a small plastic tie fastened on the cable hole in the fork, which I can only surmise was their to prevent the cable end dropping and unattaching itself from the fork. Is that common practice? Car is 05 Roadsport with 1.8 K series. Thanks Bob
  12. Hi David. See my post at link below, particularly post 12 onwards. Link to eBay source is still valid. Be very careful during reassemble of mirror housing, it's really easy to crack new glass! https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/convex-door-mirrors?page=1 Bob
  13. Not seen any updates on trip - assume it's been cancelled? Bob
  14. The one car per garage rule could be challenging given we normally have 4 cars per garage. Are we getting more garages than usual? If not and the proposal is to use the paddock area behind the garages for track cars, can we agree to leave towing vehicles and trailers in the upper paddock area for the Brands day? Bob
  15. Hi Jonathan, looks like your mailbox is full/blocked.
  16. Thanks Jonathan. Should have said its for a 2005 SV ... assume it will be the same? Yes please to the assembly guide, can you attach it to a pm? If not I'll pm another email address. Cheers Bob
  17. I need to replace the rubber boot on the upper suspension ball joint. Anyone know the torque setting when reassembling the joint? Thanks Bob
  18. Just about to replace my sender unit (second in 5 years and about 20k miles). Really want to keep original Caterham dial as part of a matching set, which I understand can't be done with mechanical gauge, so interested in remote mounting. Does it last longer when mounted remotely? Bob
  19. Thanks to the organisers. Great weather, fabulous track and good comradeship old and new. For those that left prior to the last session ... you might like to know that we lost about 10 mins due to one of the bikes in the previous session spilling oil on the Brundle/Nelson corners (just after the bridge) - braking hard on cement dust after a long straight is a new experience for me Bob
  20. Just signed up for the clubs Snetterton Track Day on 23 July. I haven't been to this track before so looking forward to a new challenge. I'll need to book overnight accommodation the night before - any recommendations? Thanks Bob
  21. Correct... the mirrors fit either side. Bob
  22. Replaced both my mirrors with convex glass - see post #12 and #14 at https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/convex-door-mirrors?page=1 . As above, put the new glass in the upturned bezel on a flat surface, then offer up the mirror housing body without moving the bezel - it's really easy to break the new glass!!!!! Bob
  23. Gutted, I've gone down with a bug which means I'm not fit to drive tomorrow. I've let Sam in the office know so hopefully someone on the reserve list gets a pleasant surprise! Bob
  24. Booked. Anyone have hotel recommendation for the Monday night? Bob
