  1. I used these parts from Merlin on my S3 K Supersport 1. Goodridge steel adapter 1/8"BSP X M10X1 2. Black nylon oil pressure pipe 3m. Red washer 3. RACETECH 100 PSI OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WITH LIGHT Works really well. Easy to fit. Parts as recommended by Merlin.
  2. Man and woman approach door together. Man nips ahead and holds door open for woman. Woman: "Are you holding the door open because I'm a lady?" Man: " No madam. You remind me of my mother and she always insisted!"
  3. I fitted an Audicator 3 years ago and find it excellent. It ramps up the volume so you hear it even when the car is very noisy. You can set the time it starts bleeping and it is silenced if you touch the brakes.
  4. I find these mirrors from Car Builder very good. One original hole with a longer screw and one tapped m6. Careful to use the right screw length, don't hit the glass.
  5. From ‘Nitron Racing Systems” https://www.nitron.co.uk/buy-online/automotive/caterham/wide-track-de-dion/wide-track-de-dion-post-1996--96--/caterham-wide-track-de-dion--post-96--nitron-street-series-suspension-kit £853.80. They were very nearly perfectly set out of the box. I did ‘corner weight’ the car & checked the rake but the adjustments were very small.
  6. I have a very similar car and fitted a set of adjustable Nitrons last year Best thing I ever did. Transformed the handling and ride. Definitely worth the money and very easy to fit.
  7. I did mine for the first time last year. I used a large screwdriver through the hole on the right side of the housing. I was working alone so held the screwdriver in place with a Mole grip and put the car in gear and jammed the brake pedal down with a piece of wood, just in case. Needed a piece of tube to extend the wrench handle. No drama and not as difficult as it sounds.
  8. I was out today in Scotland and my 1.6 Supersport wouldn't go above ~70 degrees however hard I drove. A bit of very slow driving or idling and it eventually rose to 80 degrees and then was quite steady there. I often find this up here in the frozen north....
  9. Slightly seized caliper? One dragging pad won't be felt with the wheels on the ground but will make one disc very hot at speed. Happened on my Volvo last week, offed the disc etc.
  10. This company will fix your speedometer. http://www.jdo1.com/speedos.html
  11. Merlin Motorsport have them. Search for “jump plugs”.
  12. Ian, The throttle pedal has very little play and shows not tendency to slip off the bolt head stop. It feels very positive when you stomp the pedal. I read the sage words on the clutch pre load and if you look closely I now have two springs. I borrowed the load calculations for the required force and used a digital luggage scale to measure the pull. I added the extra spring and now there is about the right preload. Here are a couple of pictures.
  13. I fitted one of these a year ago. Brilliant! http://www.audicator.com/product.html
  14. I bought these AMBOTHER H4 LED Headlight Bulbs Kits Dual Hi/Lo Beam 6000K 7600LM 12V with Dust Covers PWIXOGKK27 from Amazon and they needed a tiny scrape with a craft knife to make them fit but are much brighter than halogens. The dipped beam shape is excellent with a sharp cut off. Never been ‘flashed’ at even with them set as high as legal. Fitted in large chrome lights on my 1998 Supersport.
  15. The heat from the old fashioned bulbs helps to keep condensation out of the gauges. More modern instruments are often sealed.
  16. Derek Hastings at https://www.alloywheelrepairs.net/ did a great job repairing and powder coating my wheels. Located near Lanark.
  17. I use Toyo Proxes T1R on 16" KN wheels on my 1.6k supersport and they are pretty good for fast road use. With standard suspension the car was a bit lively on bumpy Scottish roads so I reduced the pressure from 16 psi to 14 and now it is much more fun (less alarming) on both dry and damp roads. Still scary in really wet conditions but that is probably inexperience.
  18. I would use a hose clip driver, the flexible bit makes it hard to over tighten (strip) the clip.
  19. I have a new unheated glass on order with Pilkington glass. They have a classic car glass department mailto:Classics@pilkington.com. £261 inc delivery. Mine is for my s3, they have other sizes. 8 weeks delivery, hope to have it by Christmas. I have a temporary polycarbonate screen but it is very soft and scratches even when gently wiped with a soft damp cloth.
  20. Inspired by this thread I cut off my wheel carrier, painted the 50mm stubs with Hammerite satin & plugged the ends with 20mm hood bar end plugs from a local boat shop. Bought a tiny led light from CBS for fitting in the ~10mm hole for the now redundant wheel retainer. Shaped a scrap of 5mm plastic (acrylic) to mount the light on with a 30mm M4 machine screw fitted with Araldite to fix it through the hole. The wiring passes through an angled hole to let it lie beside the mounting screw without being trapped. In the boot is another small piece of acrylic as a washer, with an angled hole to let the wiring out. I used a piece of connector strip for the wiring so I didn't need to fit any terminals. Used a black indelible marker on the visible edge of the acrylic and 3mm foam tape to keep the water out. Looks neat and is easily reversible.
  21. I have just removed my diff after 16000 miles & there were only normal washers under the bolt heads and under the nut. Because the bushes are in pairs, even if they fail completely any 'migration will be limited by the diff itself. With some of the bushes elsewhere the large chamfered washers would prevent excess movement or complete disconnection in the event of bush failure.
