micksmetafors
I have got dip beam and sidelights but main does not work on either flash or toggle switch. The blue repeater light in the rev counter illuminates when main beam is selected. There is power at the toggle switch output side but this does not seem to be arriving at the fuse box. Checked the dip beam fuse box end and this gives 12+ volts. Main beam fuse terminals show nil. This suggests a broken wire between the toggle switch and the fuse box.Any other ideas welcomed?Steve
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 30, 2016 Member Share Posted October 30, 2016 I like your diagnostics, and agree. But broken wires are rare. Could also be connection of that wire to fuse box.Ordinary dash, not Stack? As well as inspecting that wire how about a temporary jump from the main beam terminal on the switch to the input to that fuse? If that doesn't make it work then the fault is something else.Jonathan
John Vine
What year and model?Perhaps you have a loose relay?JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 30, 2016 Member Share Posted October 30, 2016 That's a relatively common problem, but I couldn't see why the volts wouldn't reach the fuse.Jonathan
micksmetafors
I've changed the relay for a new one, looks like I'll take the fuse box out and see if there is power at the back of it. Alternatively I might just buy some nice new blue and white wire and run a new one to the box and see how that plays out. Thanks for the inputs folks,Steve
elie boone
Is the relay that you changed exactly the same ? and did you tested it outside of the fuse box ? another possibility is that you have pushed one of the wires out of the fuse block but that would be rather rare to happen. SM25T
Surely the power is fed to the fuse ... then from the fuse to the relay then to the lamps. You also have 12V to the switch and then to the relay. Two separate 12V routes.
micksmetafors
Turned out to be a fuse which looked Ok and indicated on resistance as OK. Changing one by one resolved the issue. Thanks again for the inputs,Steve
