Jig
Hi allI just wanted to say hello, I have a 270S SV kit on order, should arrive by Christmas and then I can get stuck in. I'm currently scouring the forum for advice and pointers so I am as prepared as I can be...One question, I note that the heated windscreen is not an option on the order form, but can be bought as a part - is it a retrofit only, or have they discontinued them? All the bestJig

nigelpugh
It came as standard on my Superlight Twenty ( a 270r with extras essentially !) fitted with a windscreen and the interchangeable carbon aero. Not sure if it's the same on an SV model, but I would have thought it was standard. My blog is here, should help you with some tips for your build,http://superlighttwenty.blogspot.co.uk
ScottR400D
Doesn't the screen come in the weather equipment pack?
Jig
Scott, yes it does, but I was thinking specifically about the heating element.
Jig
Thanks Nigel. No, your blog does not help - you have made it look too easy! Seriously, the photos will help a lot, I think.
simon_h
All the screens are heated. There is no separate element.
Jig
Aha, thanks. In that case I will worry no more.
nigelpugh
Your welcome, there might be some useful stuff there after all then!, Of course I have done it a few times before, so you would think it should be easy by now, end yet I still made some of the most basic mistakes again! The wait for you kit to arrive will drive you to distraction by the way! ScottR400D
When I ordered my R400, which had as standard an Aeroscreen I ordered the weather equipment. When the kit arrived it had the full screen already fitted. I bought and fitted a Carbon Aeroscreen later.
Jim 123
I believe that your screen will be heated as this is an IVA requirement. The heating element is bonded to the glass at the supplier. I've just finished building my 270S, please feel welcome to get in touch if I can help.
SteG
All Screens come as heated. They are fragile though and do not use them to get into and out of the car, like my missus did. Replacement required, which takes an age.
Doc007
Mr Caterham Man told me that they HAVE to have a heating element as standard because if you have a windscreen you need a way of clearing it of condensation. As there is no provision for vents an element is the only option.

Jig
Thanks all for clearing up the heated windscreen question. I appreciate the help. Doesn't help with the waiting for it to arrive though!
colindavies56
you have to have a screen demister by law,as we have no air vents, you get a heated screen.

robjjones
Good luck Jig!Arrival day is great fun. My head melted I think.I'm about half-way through my build, and it is a great experience, although chilly at the moment. Frustration is common, grazed knuckles more so. So is the massive sense of achievement when you complete a job.Cheers,Rob.
