Silly question - Indicator Relay.

Half way round a Blat today, and the indicators stopped flashing!  All illuminate, but do not flash. Hazard lights all come on, on the switch, but again don't flash.

Think it must be the indicator Flasher Unit - but where do Caterham hide the bloo6y thing???

Any ideas?

Hi POBC,

Can someone please send a photo of what the flasher unit looks like and where to place a cable tie. This same problem has happened to me on my first proper blat out. Don't want to take it back to Caterham Midlands if there is a quick fix.

Cheers,

Ant

Photos are still a little beyond me at the mo...

On my car the flasher unit is a plug in relay on the same board as all the fuses (under the dash on the left hand side). From memory there are a couple of relays and it wont hurt to cable tie both. Just pass a long cable tie under the fuseboard and over the top of the relays.

  • 6 months later...

Ballisticsupersport Tom, at the recommendation of Mavic82 and others, I now have one of these flasher units, having had a couple of other units fail:

It's electronic not thermal so if at some future point you move to LED indicators, it'll still work with a sensible flash rate and no need for additional resistors.

Our car's a 2005 K, but I suspect that's not so important. The fourth pin which your current unit may not have is apparently for trailer electrics; its presence is irrelevant provided the socket has a corresponding void space.

Quoting... Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday...  my car is a 2013 supersport sigma.

Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday in my 2013 Sigma Supersport en route to Dunsfold...  but the pull out, push back in technique worked a treat (once I'd guessed that the unique relay was probably the one I'd want) and so did searching for this thread!  *eek*
