  1. Nice photo Stephen! I think I’m going to have to do Spa next year...
  2. Brilliant advice, thanks guys. My next question was going to be what can I do to prevent this situation happening again! I’ll investigate the various pad/fluid options tomorrow. thanks again. Tom
  3. Thanks for that, mine happened at Snetterton. I was thinking of doing exactly what you’ve suggested, not a massive outlay all things considered! Tom
  4. Pedal feels pretty much the same as it always has, maybe a touch softer but by no means does the pedal go to the floor. yep, just a lot less retardation not sure re the front/rear balance, on the track the car did step out when the incident happened but this may have been me just trying to make the corner at a much higher entry speed. On the road I didn’t notice more braking from the rear but I was not braking hard deliberately due to my concerns with the brakes. Tom
  5. They were supplied and fitted by a reputable specialist so I would be confident that they are genuine... is there a way to check?
  6. Hi POBC, my first post for a while... I have a sigma SuperSport with standard non vented discs all round but with mintex 1144 pads at the front and up rated master cylinder. At the end of my last trackday I had a sudden loss of braking performance when entering a hairpin, thankfully with no one in front... At the time I just put it down to tyres or brakes or driver overheating. I should say that I’d been doing much longer sessions on track than I normally do - circa 45 minutes and I had been working on my braking. Anyway I put the car on my trailer and didn’t think much more about it, until I took the car last Sunday for a quick drive. I had to use noticeably more force on the pedal to stop and there was also an occasional screech which has never been present before. This morning I’ve taken the pads off and there seems to be a lot of meat left, although I’ve no idea how thick they were to start with. The surface of the pads doesn’t look great but again I don’t know really what the surface should look like. The discs are in good condition. Pads are approximately 2 1/2 years 2000 (mostly road) miles old. brake fluid level is fine and I can’t see any leaks. pedal feel seems to be as normal. sorry for the long post, any ideas or recommendations? Or do I just need new pads? Thanks Tom
  7. I flashed and waved from the red & white campervan.

  10. I flashed you from the silver Audi with canoe! lovely day for a blat/paddle.... was in two minds which to go for this morning.
  11. First time about 7.30am Sunday morning on the Yalding to Horsmonden Road. I flashed from the silver Audi with canoe on the roof. Then again at about noon.
  12. Thanks for the info Stephen, good to know there are a few good alternatives out there. When are you next doing a track day? I'm desperate to get back out on track. cheers Tom
  13. I have a BJ A4 with a 3.3m X 1.8m bed + fuel can locker. My S3 fits perfectly with no overhangs. SV would be snug... Tom
  14. Heading towards Goudhurst. stunning afternoon for it!
  15. At the bottom of the high street at about 11 o'clock on Saturday morning.
  16. The club will have the data for members by county at least, then taking into account the surface area of each county we would have the number of club 7's per square mile per county. No reason to think that the distribution of non club members is any different to that of club members. I'd be surprised if the highest number is anywhere other than in the home counties due to population density, proximity to Caterham and general affluence. Not sure I can actually be bothered to work it all out though!
  17. I suppose living in close proximity to Caterham Cars means that us southern softies in Kent and Sussex are going to get spotted more as presumably there are more cars around and thus club members to be spotted by. One solution - drive your car more! Tom
  18. Exactly the same thing happened to my sigma supersport in its first year. CC replaced it FOC and it's been fine ever since (2 1/2 years). I worry more when things stop rattling!
  19. I'm no expert on dampers, my 7 has the same ones fitted as yours does. I recently changed from 6 X 13" wheels on cr500's all round to 6" front 8" rear with ZZS tyres. Putting it bluntly it ruined my car and it was almost impossible to keep in a straight line on anything but perfectly smooth tarmac, tram lining was also a big issue. I then got my car setup properly 'flat floored' and it now handles better than ever and is a joy to drive on road and track. The reason I mention this is that it seems that 7's are so sensitive to setup, even down to seemingly insignificant variations in tyre pressures that it's almost impossible to put the difference between two cars down to just the dampers. The dampers could well be shot but it might be worth taking the car to someone for their expert opinion. In any case, I would have thought sticking with standard Caterham fit Bilstiens is probably the way to go particularly if you're not going on track. Hope you get it sorted and are back enjoying your car soon. Tom
  20. Probably was you Martin, only glimpsed you from the side, definitely 2 up. Happy to return the spotted! My swift half turned into a 3 hour lunch! Glad I walked there!
  21. Saw you driving by whilst having a beer outside the Vine. Nice day for it!
  22. Hi Stephen, Waved to you from the silver Audi. Hopefully meet up on a blat soon.... When I get my car back from CC with its fresh nose job. Tom
  23. Pretty sure it was purple with no stripes, I don't remember a full cage either...
