C7HJE
Half way round a Blat today, and the indicators stopped flashing! All illuminate, but do not flash. Hazard lights all come on, on the switch, but again don't flash.Think it must be the indicator Flasher Unit - but where do Caterham hide the bloo6y thing???Any ideas? SM25T
Careful ... easy to get stuck doing that. Been there ! Safer to sit in seat and use a mobile to take a flash photo.
ECR
A cable tie round it will stop it happening again ....
ants21uk
Hi POBC,Can someone please send a photo of what the flasher unit looks like and where to place a cable tie. This same problem has happened to me on my first proper blat out. Don't want to take it back to Caterham Midlands if there is a quick fix.Cheers,Ant
ECR
Photos are still a little beyond me at the mo...On my car the flasher unit is a plug in relay on the same board as all the fuses (under the dash on the left hand side). From memory there are a couple of relays and it wont hurt to cable tie both. Just pass a long cable tie under the fuseboard and over the top of the relays. ants21uk
Thanks for that ECR located relay and took out cleaned up and reinserted. Indicators now flash
ballisticsupersport
Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday, removed the relay gave it a good tap but alas it still doesn't work .CC appear to be out of stock... I had a quick look on RS components and couldn't find an exact replacement - anyone know a stockist? For info, my car is a 2013 supersport sigma.ThanksTom
SM25T
Ask CC .... don't rely on the website. Also try Redline.
Doug phillips
Has anybody ever moved the fuze box to a better location, somthing radical like under to bonnet ?
SM25T
Where it would get wet ... unless you change to an enclosed one.
Paul Deslandes
don't forget that faulty indicators are, more often than not, remedied by working the flasher switch on and off a few times. Not on this occasion though.
Doug phillips
Ian I was thinking of somthing like fitting it to the base of a plastic sandwich box, then just pressing the actual box part on the top / base.
AntonyH
Ballisticsupersport Tom, at the recommendation of Mavic82 and others, I now have one of these flasher units, having had a couple of other units fail:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271473987496It's electronic not thermal so if at some future point you move to LED indicators, it'll still work with a sensible flash rate and no need for additional resistors. Our car's a 2005 K, but I suspect that's not so important. The fourth pin which your current unit may not have is apparently for trailer electrics; its presence is irrelevant provided the socket has a corresponding void space.See also (although they all kind of link around in circles...):http://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/drl-solution-led-h4-bulbs-videohttp://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/led-indicator-flasher-unithttp://www.lotus7.club/comment/2120121#comment-2120121
BigCol
Quoting... Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday... my car is a 2013 supersport sigma.Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday in my 2013 Sigma Supersport en route to Dunsfold... but the pull out, push back in technique worked a treat (once I'd guessed that the unique relay was probably the one I'd want) and so did searching for this thread! LouisFeakes
And me, today in my 2012 supersport.2nd time it's happened and fixed both times by simply removing and refitting it.
ballisticsupersport
BigCol & LouisFeakes, I'd recommend buying spares ASAP! Mine got stuck a couple of times before failing completely....Make sure you order the right ones though, I understand that they have changed in the last few years...Tom
