Rolling road session - Northampton Motorsport

Matthew Willoughby

Recommended Posts

I have booked the rollers at Northampton Motorsport for power runs on the morning of Saturday 15th February. I would like to get some benchmark figures for a broad range of cars, especially for classes 1 to 3 where the rules are changing most, but anybody is welcome to come along to get figures for their car.

Cost will be £30+VAT per run.

Please post here if you would like to join us. Those that have agreed to come so far are:

Rob Jacobs (Tracksport spec Sigma) Class 1

Mark Gibson (standard Sigma) Class 1

Paul Brown (standard 1.6K) Class 1

Steffan Eldred (standard 1.6K) Class 1

Paul Boston (standard 1.6K built to Supergraduate spec) Class 1

Steve Causey (standard 1.6K) Class 1

Clive Marsden (standard 1.6K) Class 1

Andrew Willoughby (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3

Rob Spencer (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3

Richard Price (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3

Graham Howard (1.8K X-Power) Class 2/3

Graham Howard (1.8K with John's Z&F ECU) Class 2/3

Roger Cumming (1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3

Hi Matthew, as this is looking a bit like a Class 1 pre-season outing I'd also like to join in if possible but understand if you've already got enough Class 1 cars.

My car is an ex-academy 1.6 K-series from 2005. Nothing has been touched on the engine, in fact the MSA seals are still in place.......

Graham / Matt Bit of a long trek for me, also likely to be snowed in by then which happens every year now, so no chance of moving the trailer.

Mine is a standard 1800 K series 140 BHP EU3 but with Z & F tuning.

Graham, as yours is the same apart from the Z&F (I think) I could take my ECU off and send it to you.

(As long as you don't send me yours back 😬)

You could then test with your ECU and then replace with mine test again and see if there is any difference!

Alternatively, Mark at Z&F may have one you could borrow.

John,

You'd also need to send your immobiliser (which is mounted just above your right knee when sat in the car).

Hi Richard,

When Mark at Z&F altered my ECU it came back with the immobiliser not working. I queried this and Mark said that it would make restarting easier in competition should the engine stall in a spin etc.(which it has!) Based on that will the ECU be OK without the immobiliser stuff......don't want to strip too much off the car as it never seems to go back as easily as coming off!
