Matthew Willoughby
I have booked the rollers at Northampton Motorsport for power runs on the morning of Saturday 15th February. I would like to get some benchmark figures for a broad range of cars, especially for classes 1 to 3 where the rules are changing most, but anybody is welcome to come along to get figures for their car. Cost will be £30+VAT per run. Please post here if you would like to join us. Those that have agreed to come so far are: Rob Jacobs (Tracksport spec Sigma) Class 1 Mark Gibson (standard Sigma) Class 1 Paul Brown (standard 1.6K) Class 1 Steffan Eldred (standard 1.6K) Class 1 Paul Boston (standard 1.6K built to Supergraduate spec) Class 1 Steve Causey (standard 1.6K) Class 1 Clive Marsden (standard 1.6K) Class 1 Andrew Willoughby (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3 Rob Spencer (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3 Richard Price (ported 1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3 Graham Howard (1.8K X-Power) Class 2/3 Graham Howard (1.8K with John's Z&F ECU) Class 2/3 Roger Cumming (1.6K Supersport) Class 2/3 Chris Bramall (1.8 Zetec on twin 40 Weber carbs) Class 2/3 Edited by - New Comp Sec on 10 Feb 2014 10:04:

Steve Causey
Hi Matthew, as this is looking a bit like a Class 1 pre-season outing I'd also like to join in if possible but understand if you've already got enough Class 1 cars. My car is an ex-academy 1.6 K-series from 2005. Nothing has been touched on the engine, in fact the MSA seals are still in place....... CaterBram
Mat, Can you put the lonely Class 2 Zetec on the list as well, bit of a treck but should be interesting. Edited by - CaterBram on 22 Dec 2013 12:38:
Matthew Willoughby
Steve, you're more than welcome. They can handle up to 25 cars so numbers shouldn't be a problem. Chris, it will be very interesting to see how your car performs and it should give you a baseline for some upgrades........
david nelson
It would be really good to get a 1.8 supersport, a 1.8 xpower, a 1.8 with zf ecu and an xpower that's been converted to supersport spec. looking at 2015 looking at programmable ecu would be good. Graham Howard
Hi Matthew. As I am just down the road, count me in please. Standard 1.8 x power. Graham
Matthew Willoughby
I'll add you to the list Graham. Is your car still on the X Power ECU or does it have a supersport one? The X Power only rev'd to 6,800 rather than 7,600 I think.
Graham Howard
Yes still on the x power ECU, 6800 RPM max. As you know I am thinking about getting the Z&F upgrade so not would be interesting if somebody came along with that. Are you reading this John B? johnpbransfield
Graham / Matt Bit of a long trek for me, also likely to be snowed in by then which happens every year now, so no chance of moving the trailer. Mine is a standard 1800 K series 140 BHP EU3 but with Z & F tuning. Graham, as yours is the same apart from the Z&F (I think) I could take my ECU off and send it to you. (As long as you don't send me yours back 😬) You could then test with your ECU and then replace with mine test again and see if there is any difference! Alternatively, Mark at Z&F may have one you could borrow. John B
Roadsport06
A comparison between standard x power and it remapped by z and f will be very interesting

Area Representative Richard Price Posted December 21, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted December 21, 2013 Quoting JOHN BRANSFIELD: Graham, as yours is the same apart from the Z&F (I think) I could take my ECU off and send it to you. John, You'd also need to send your immobiliser (which is mounted just above your right knee when sat in the car).
johnpbransfield
Hi Richard, When Mark at Z&F altered my ECU it came back with the immobiliser not working. I queried this and Mark said that it would make restarting easier in competition should the engine stall in a spin etc.(which it has!) Based on that will the ECU be OK without the immobiliser stuff......don't want to strip too much off the car as it never seems to go back as easily as coming off! Support Team rob spencer Posted December 21, 2013 Support Team Share Posted December 21, 2013 Matt I have to come to see how my 1.6K ported supersport compares against the Team Willoughby car. I need an excuse. Rob
the.vet
Please post the results! Interested to see what the 1.8 with Z&F makes. What exhaust is it running with?
Graham Howard
John, your offer is very generous. I had forgotten how cold it gets up north! I probably need to ask z&f if it would work on my car without your immobiliser. Graham
johnpbransfield
Graham, Happy to help. I don't think the immobiliser will be an issue as it does not recognise the ECU, that bit has been deleted or turned off in the ECU. When you check with Mark at Z&F ask if you will need to disconnect your immobiliser for the test. John
CheshireCat
As a 2014 Class 1 novice, i am interested to see how my car compares. My car is a 2007 ex-academy standard 1.6k. Please can you add me to the list ? Thanks Clive
