Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 1, 2011 Member Share Posted August 1, 2011 Yes, there's lots on this recently. Frank Pickles seem to come out the cheapest for many people. http://www.frankpickles.co.uk/ Jonathan

keybaud
I'd second Frank Pickles. They were very helpful and at £190 for a year fully comp on limited mileage, I couldn't be bothered to shop around.

stevethemook
I'm with Frank Pickles as they quoted £150 for limited (4500 miles) with two drivers which could have been reduced to £120 if I had agreed to repair the car myself in the event of an accident with them buying the bits. Only thing is they seem very slow with the paperwork ..my address was wrong on the cert and its taken a couple of weeks to sort it.. Steve
Myles
People do point out that it's one thing to give money to the insurance company (and be happy about not giving much of it their way) but it's another when you want the money to flow the other way. I dunno what Pickles would quote me for my area, but I'm sticking with what I know for both of my 7s (MSM).
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted August 1, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted August 1, 2011 I think Frank Pickles will only insure if the car is garaged. MSM have a very good reputation as do REIS, Competition Car Insurance and Footman James. REIS and CCI have the free trackday cover if you need it
john milner
The website form is no good for main cars. I'm named driver on the wifes car so that counts me out.
cur7is
Flux for me, huge upvote. Though mileage was limited to 7500.
mattobrien
I am currently with Flux, but the policy is underwritten by Chaucer. I have recently insured my Elise with Chaucer directly (who pointed out they also cover my seven), so I will probably go directly with them next time. £200 for an R500 isn't bad. Area Representative Nick Chan Posted August 3, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted August 3, 2011 REIS is Chaucer's in-house broker
Thurtene
REIS get a vote from me. They include four Trackdays if that's your bag, too. I use them for my race insurance as well and having had to make a recent claim, they sorted it really quickly and without fuss: smashed car to racing again in under three weeks. Griff
Give 2gether Insurance a try - I found them when I insured my X-flow Caterham as a classic and it was about £110/year fully comp, Lloyds underwritten etc. They are a smaller broker who tell me their lower prices are largely because they don't have the high advertising overheads of the big name firms. They specialise in classic, performance, custom and specialist/oddball cars; their underwriters are the same syndicate that covers one of the better known names often associated with 7s. I thought they would turn me away when I bought the R400 but the extra permium was just £60 extra for the half year (+£15 for change of car details which they all do these days) and that was mainly because insured value had doubled, not the extra power. So annualised this would be just over £200 for a 2003 R400 fully comp on 1000 road miles/year and only £100 total damage excess. I've no experience of their claims handling. And they were a bit ferocious when I was late sending my mileage declaration back.
