CC, seem to be a bit expensive and I am sure that these hoses are from standard manufactor , Any help would be appreciated . John

Steve Cragg
I've just bought a complete set of silicone hoses including heater set from SFS Performance. Total cost including L7C discount (25%) was £185 Steve Superlight #
Member Jonathan Kay Posted April 27, 2010 Member Share Posted April 27, 2010 Steve: Did that include clips? Thanks Jonathan
Steve Cragg
No hoses only. Bought Mikalor clips from hosefittings.co.uk Total for all clips was about £20 Steve Superlight #
CageyH
Am I the only person who does not get on with Mikalor clips? JCS Hi-Grip are far better in my opinion - less problems with seepage from joints (I have 8 clips on my top hose alone as I have more obstacles than most to overcome 😳). Mikalor clamps never seem to do the job properly. 😔 Only dead fish go with the flow....!
Colin Mill
What is it with having to buy silicone hoses anyway? German tin-tops do 15 years on the original rubber hoses that won't turn to $n0t if you get petrol and oil on them.
Steve Cragg
My original hoses went to snot without any petrol or oil on them afaik I had some initial trouble sealing one of the hoses with the Mikalor clips but seem fine now. I got them because of a recommendation on here! Steve Superlight #
Tricky Dicky 40
I thank you for your interest in this subject, but it dose'nt help me me with what type of normal rubber hoses, off of what vehicles, would fit on to either a 1.6 or1.8 "K" series. MADMALC
I understand that they are Caterham specific so no other source for standard rubber hoses. If you find differently please let me know as the latest set I have from Caterham are of very poor quality compare to my originals from 1998. Steve Cragg
As above. The only way you could use standard hoses would be to make bits up yourself. Although it is a standard engine the layout is completely different hence bespoke hoses The silicone hoses from third parties are not that much more expensive than the CC rubber ones and should last a lot longer which is why most people change to them when they need to replace hoses. The also look better Steve Superlight #
rj
Colin The silicone hoses are by far lighter than the rubber ones. (About one kg in total for the three hoses) That is reason enough for me to spend the extra pennies.

Steve Cragg
Ah yes but sit on the toilet AND fit silicone hoses and you'll be a world beater 😬 Steve Superlight #
Sigmamark
Ah yes but sit on the toilet AND fit silicone hoses and you'll be a world beater That is going to be quite a feat if your toilet and car are in similar positions to mine - i.e. the car in the garage downstairs and the toilet in the bathroom upstairs. Unless "you" sit on the toilet and get the wife to fit the hoses! Am I missing the point
