bobt Posted September 21, 2009 Share Posted September 21, 2009 My freestyle adjustable front ARB has just snapped :( The main bar has broken just before the join with the adjustment boss. I've no doubt it's down to not ensuring it ran freely within the ARB nrackets before connecting it all up . I just hoped that it'd all free itself off. snuttall Posted September 22, 2009 Share Posted September 22, 2009 I had one break after about 3000 miles (mostly track) - spoke to Freestyle and they mentioned a potential issue if the bar doesn't move freely in the blocks. Lotus Boy Posted September 22, 2009 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Hmm interesting. Mine snapped on me a couple of week's ago. I was driving round the Ford Dunton Test Track banked corners at the time I think. Mine snapped on the thin blade section just before it joins the fixed section though rather than the main bar itself. Mine is 10 years old and always set to softest. Speaking to Gary and he reckons that might be part if the problem. He said softest on the road means it will have flexed far more than if it was on a harder setting on the track. Wouldn't £60 for a new blade though not fitted yet. I've undone the adjusting nut but can't seem to prize the old blade remnant out. Any ideas? BBL Posted June 4, 2013 Share Posted June 4, 2013 I suppose my Freestyle ARB must have been binding in the blocks recently... mine recently broke at the weld of the main crossbar to the leg on the non-adjustable side. I'll have to have it welded back together and check it is not binding upon re-installation, as a discount on a replacement seems unlikely. I hope Mr. May is doing well.
