danwhiley
I noticed the Mintex site says: "M1155 is purely designed for competition use and under no circumstances should be used for normal road applications" As it seems to keep its properties at higher temperatures it sounds interesting for races (rather than sprints), but does it really not work on the road (i.e. low temp)? Quick straw pole: Sprint events (about 60 seconds from cold)- M1144, Greenstuff or Redstuff? Dan.
Andrew Russell
Roy Lane of Tech Craft (Multi Speed Event champion) reccomended that I use M1122 on my Seven for speed events. Excellent performance from cold and on the the road but very quickly overheated by track use. Andrew
Jason Plato
M1122 were the std caterham pad which I had fitted previously for 2 years , great from cold for sprints , M1144 "feel" better when hot , havent done any sprints yet to see how they are from 90mph into the molehill !!! only one way to find out though teeth.gif dave
Alex Wong1697456877
My red stuff pads seem fine at curborough. Green stuff faded and didn't last. Were not very good once they'd been heated up a few times. They have a new compound now so it may be better.
Martin H
I wouldn't like to use M1144 from cold at a sprint. On circuits I spend the green flag lap trying to get some heat into them. Once hot, they're excellent.
EFA
Mr Wong, Do you really belive I'll fall for "My red stuff pads seem fine at Curborough."??? We also need to discuss waiving L10.5.3 - I cant get any steel nuts to fit the long studs I fitted for the alloy nuts. Either that or you'll have to disqual me. If I have an entry. I could go on.................... Fat Arn Visit the K2 RUM siteid=red> See the Lotus Seven Club 4 Counties Area Website hereid=green>
Paul Ranson
I think the standard fit from Caterham is/was Mintex 1136. 1122 is softer. Paul
rgrigsby
25K miles on one set of red stuff pads!!!! err how? mine last 3-4 track days max when running ACB10's, quite often less. That's both the front and the rears!! I'm running standard discs all round though, have you go uprated fronts/rears? Rob G
Alex Wong1697456877
Arnie, I seem to do ok with my red stuff pads. I suppose if you're going to do better than 59.02 then you might need better. Your wheel studs are not longer than mine (mine are extra long to fit my OZ F1 wheels). No excuses, Mr Webb smile.gif Alex
WILL FLY
I didn't think you used your brakes Rob, I thought you just threw it round the corner and scrubbed the speed off using the tyres smile.gif See willfly.net for more info. If you don't spin you ain't trying smile.gif
EFA
Alex Extended wheel studs are also banned under 10.5.3 ("extended wheel studs") Extended I assume means longer. So it looks like we'll be measuring stud lengths on all cars! (Unless you change the sups of course....) Alex Wong1697456877
My dear Mr Webb, Your presumption is incorrect. An extended wheel stud is one that is not of one piece construction - ie an extension has been added to it. The MSA technical department are very helpful people teeth.gif Wheelnuts must be steel. Caterham sell open ended ones. smile.gif Alex
EFA
Shumachers, I'll have to go buy some of those then....... julians
I use mintex 1155, seems fine on both road and track.
debushau
How about Porterfields? A California company - make a carbon/kevlar pad that highly recommended in other applications (such as MX5's)?
