  1. Hi Pete I have had a quick look at the original full exhaust today, It is marked up as a: Cheeseman CSP362, as I have said it is off my 2000, 1.6K series, standard width car, Their is nothing on it to say it has a Catalytic converter, but the first 6-7 inches of the silencer are I believe where the Cat is, this part appears to be made of a different material and is labled: Kemira 80850 9906502, a quick search on the internet (Google, not Bing) indicates that Kemira make Catalytic converters. It may be worth checking what you have to make sure it is not the same. I think all cars from around 2000 all came with a Cat exhaust, although I am not an expert in these matters. The exhaust was only on the car from 2000 - 2004, and a brief spell in 2017 - 2018 when I did the introduction to sprinting and my first couple of sprints. Its in good condition but would benefit from a good polish. Hope this helps Best Regards Mark
  2. Hi, I have just put this for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested, Ebay# 143936363642 This is a genuine Caterham, none CAT 6 inch diameter silencer off my 1.6K series Caterham seven. I moved from the standard 4-1 CAT exhaust to the none CAT 4-2-1 exhaust from 2004 to 2018, this auction is just for the silencer, it is in good condition, there is no corrosion and is made of stainless steel which polishes up nicely, although I only ever bothered with the bits you can see. The only reason that I have swapped it out is that I have started a bit of Hill Climbing and Sprinting and the class I am in requires a CAT for the age of my car (when on my Caterham the none CAT silencer was never mentioned at MOT time in 14 years), you can see the occasional black marker on the silencer where it was used to measure up for my new silencer. If you are buying for another car, it is designed for a left hand exit as you are sat in a RHD car, the inlet and outlets are not centred, but offset, I have done a little diagram of its dimensions, and I have tried to represent these offsets as it sat on my car. I am afraid I unable to give any advice on what other vehicles it may fit as dimensions are bound to vary so much. Anyway, I think a £100 start, including postage (not Hermes) is fair, anything less and I may as well keep it in case at some point my enthusiasm exceeds my ability on a naggery hill and we move her back to being a road car. Sorry, UK Bidders only I also have the original K series 4-1 complete CAT system as well that I can put on Ebay if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking, Mark

  4. Thanks Graham Hopefully next year will be much better. Mark and Max
  5. Hi, Myself and my Son sort of competed in the 2018 and 2019 championship in my 1.6k series supersport. The regs were pretty strict and we had to take off our Jenveys and emerald ecu and go back to the standard plenum and mem's. I have just checked the reg's to see if there is anything we can tweek over the winter for next years championship, and it looks like anything goes as long as we stay below 160bhp. I just want to check I have not missed anything before dusting off the Jenveys and Emerald and strapping them back on, and will we need a Dyno read out to prove our power is within reg's. Thanks Mark and Max
  6. Hi Does anybody know of anyone doing tyre shaving near York, I am trying to get this done for the next sprint season, probably to around 3mm tread depth. I know Demon Tweeks do this, but it is a little out of the way for me. I only do a few sprints a year, and at three years old they should be ready for a re-fresh so wear is not an issue (List 1a Yokahama 539's). Any advice appreciated. Mark
  7. Hi I would definitely be interested in these as well, will be putting in for a set a soon as the post comes up. Thanks Mark
  8. Hi Tom I had the car flat floored earlier this year by Dave Gemzoe who did an excellent job, its definitely made a big improvement, now, instead of there being an Ocean between me and the pack, we are down to a Sea (still the med though). I have already had some excellent advice, and I think I will try and keep things simple and try and improve my braking technique, I am aware that I am easing off to early and then being too aggressive on the brakes too late.
  9. Hi I have started doing the occasional Sprint and Hillclimb in class 2 of the club championship, and am looking at some modest modifications to make up for a lack of talent. My car is a pretty standard 2000, 1.6K series, with Vernier cam timing and 52 mm throttle body. I currently have standard brakes with Mintex 1144 pads in the front and the standard 19 year old pads in the back. I seem to be locking the fronts up quite a bit, so have been looking at sticking Ferodo 2500's in the front and Ferodo 3000's in the rear, however when checking prices on Demon Tweek's these pads come with a warning that they are not approved for road use, as class 2 is a road legal class, I guess I can't use these. I am now looking at putting some Mintex 1144 pads in the back and adding a brake bias valve to the standard master cylinder as a relatively cheap option. Any views on other budget options would be appreciated, at the moment I am looking primarily at improving my driving (just done the Harewood Hill Climb School, and booking a few track days with instruction), my son, in the same car is a good 2-3 seconds ahead of me in the same car, and has started snapping at the heels of the class 2 pack. I may try the 260 mm solid disc, Hi-spec 4 pot front upgrade, I gather that this will not significantly improve braking, but improve feel and reduce unsprung weight by around 4 Kg, my financial controller has caustically pointed out that eating less pies would have the same effect and be a lot cheaper and healthier, the compromise position is that I lose 4 kg and am then allowed to Flex the plastic.
  10. Hi I am after a drivers side, side impact bar for a 1.6K series 2000 S3, to be used with a standard FIA roll bar and RIF wind deflector. Thanks Mark
  11. Think its sorted, my local garage had fitted a new gearbox, and as the engine was coming out I asked them to fit the old plenum when everything went back in, the S tube that should have gone to the restricted orifice was connected to the front breather and the restricted orifice was blanked off as was the bottom breather on the throttle body, the S tube is now on the breather and I have cobbled together a pipe from the breather connection on the head to the throttle body, oil reading as it should on the dipstick and I think that I can call off littering Wigan pier for a short while. I do not think any damage will have been done, she was brought back from the garage on a trailer because she could not be started due to immobiliser issues for me to fix (which I have only recently achieved), I am sure that if she had been running this issue would have been found by them. Thanks for the quick responses its greatly appreciated. Mark
  12. Hi Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this, I noticed that when I checked the oil with the engine running I was seeing no oil on the dipstick, however when I withdrew the dipstick from the engine I had to pull against a distinct vacuum, I tried checking the oil again but with the oil filler cover off and the engine running and the oil level was fine, as soon as the oil filler cover went back on, the oil level on the dipstick no longer showed. I have drained the oil from the crankcase and oil filter, and have measured it at the correct 4.5l and very healthy looking it is too, I have fitted a new filter and another 4.5 litres of oil, and obviously get the same result, oil pressure also looks good. I have recently refitted the original plenum, but with a 52mm throttle body instead of the original 48mm one, and hope that my problems may be related, although everything looks like it is fitted OK, and she seems to run fine. I have checked the plugs, they are all the same, a little rich, but I have only been running her at idle, so guess this is to be expected. I was meant to be running her at Aintree tomorrow, but am really not keen on thraping her around a track if the oil is not getting where it is meant to be, I am tempted to take her to Wigan pier though, and just push her off the end to join the shopping trolleys and the canal boats.. Any recommendations for a K series specialist in the York/Pickering area? Thanks
  13. Picture now included, Thanks for the link to the help files*thumb_up*
  14. Hi I have just removed my Jenveys, Bernard Scouse airbox, and Emerald from my K series car, and re-fitted the original mems/ecu and plenum chamber, I have had a few difficulties but she seems fine now. The only thing I would like to check is the two connections at the front of the plenum body. I have the bottom connection going to the fuel return pipe, and the top connection (marked with a red ring) going to the charcoal cannister. I just want to check this is the right way around, I have checked the build manual, and it looks correct, but its not a great diagram. I have tried to copy a photo to this link but have so far failed completely. Thanks Mark
  15. Hi Simon I never got it set up on a rolling road, but DVA reckons on around 150+bhp, after going from the standard supersport to the Emerald, vernier camms, Jenveys and Bernard Scouse airbox I would say she definately had a bit more power, but the most notable thing was the greater spread of power and torque acrosss the range. Its not a bad thing for me and my son to go back to the standard supersport spec, he has been driving a Fiat Panda 1.1, although this has recently been swapped for a Mk1 MX5, and neither of us have done any sprinting before, so we will see how we get on, although I have just aquired a 52mm throttle body to replace the original 48mm one, not sure that this will make any great difference though.
  16. Thanks for the clarification Chris, looking forward to the season ahead. Mark (wingnut)
  17. Hi After last Septembers excellent introduction to sprinting, myself and my son have entered the series in class two this year, I just have a couple of things I need to clarify: My Car is a pretty standard 1.6K series supersport, but with the addition of Vernier cams, Jenvey throttle bodies with a Bernard Scouse airbox, and also an Emerald ECU. I am safe with the Vernier Cams, and know that I will have to put my supersport ECU back in place of the Emerald ECU. The rules say that 1.6K series engine is allowed a larger throttle body, I guess the clue is the singular throttle body, so I am pretty sure the Jenveys and the Bernard Scouse airbox will have to go to be replaced by the original plenum, but I would just like to confirm this as I was pretty sure I saw a class 2 car at the introduction to sprinting day with Jenveys installed (although I could be wrong on this one). I also had a 4-2-1 exhaust system without a CAT fitted, but as she is a 2000 car I have swapped back to the original 4-1 with a Cat for the first few events, I am in discussion about getting a Cat in a Can made up for the 4-2-1 system, I am pretty sure I will be safe with this, but do not want to waste any money on this in case I am wrong. She has the FIA bar, class 1a Tyres are in the post (A539's), The white number backing has arrived and I have decals for the ignition cut off and the tow points, can anyone think of anything I may have missed. Thanks Wingnut.
  18. Thanks to everyone who replied, I had already fitted the foam baffle and nipped everything up to 10nm and added new oil and a filter, so will revisit whether to get rid of the foam at next years service (it was ten years old, and in quite good, sound condition), thanks for the update on torque settings, its always good to get an explanation about why something is what it is, cheers oilyhands Mark
  19. Hi, I have just changed the sump foam on my 1.6K supersport, does anyone know the correct torque settings for the sump bolts ( I know I should have checked before hand, Doh), I have tried a few searches and have only come up with 10nm for a pressed stell sump off the DVA web sight, this seems a little low to me, but I am a little ham fisted and have been known to strip threads before. Thanks Mark
  20. Ian I am definately interested, could you put me down on the list. Thanks Mark
  21. I have just replaced my standard thermostat after an overheating scare (thankfully turned out to be the sender)with an R500 item that is meant to run at around 74 degrees. I have just been out and the temperature is pretty solid around 70 degrees as would be expected. I should have thought abought this sooner, but am a little concerned about engine wear running at lower temperatures, I am hoping that as long as I let my oil (Mobil 1) get up to a decent temperature that this should not be a problem. The cars a pretty standard 1.6K supersport, should I change back to the standard thermostat? Thanks Wingnut
  22. Ammo Interested subject to price, will match my wheel arch protectors Thanks Wingnut
  23. Sounds like rivnuts could be a good idea Essentially you rivet a thread into place and then bolt into it. not sure off hand where I got mine from, but I have the details at work and could post these tommorow if wanted. Wingnut
  24. Hi Richard Would definately be interested in around 16m square, mix of black and grey slate style (as in screw fix catologue), if priced around £20 m square. Thanks Mark
