  1. If it's a new (or recent-ish used) it's what Ford currently brand as 'Duratec Ti-VCT', which is the latest generation of 1.6l engine from the Sigma family. The earlier versions of that engine were known as Zetec-SE and are what Caterham used in the smaller engined cars once the K-series finished. Zetec/Zetec-E/Zetec-R are what Ford variously called the Zeta family of engines, some of which do appear in Caterhams when swapped in by owners, usually as an upgrade from a Crossflow. The Sigma family are the 'other way round' so you have to swap over exhaust/inlet sides on a Seven that has had a Crossflow in (or indeed a K-series) to upgrade to a Sigma.
  2. Earlier this year a few of us did some detective work into Duratec fuseboxes (it was January...) the results of which are documented in this thread https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/fuse-identification-2010-superlight-r400-stack-dash
  3. Makes sense. Other to the tacho, the other main connector like that its the link to the engine loom.
  4. I'm going to guess that it is a box that is occasionally connected between the main harness and the tacho for the purposes of 'optimising' the signal when somewhere near a noise meter...
  5. And that is because it has about 3/4 of the cross-sectional area normal to the flow.
  6. A Bilstein refurb pretty much means they will replace any components that are worn out or have failed but won't do any comestic work. I imagine they would if asked though. The important bits are as good as new. They will do the bushes if asked but I think they make them specially rather than have a stock of every possible bush size. I had them do my fronts last year and other than it taking a bit longer than expected because they had to make a new component from scratch for me, it was fine. Perhaps two weeks turn around, I can't really remember. If you give them a call they'll tell you how busy they are.
  7. I discovered this a few weeks ago but have not got round to ordering any yet to be 100%, but I reckon equivalents are Mann W77 and Mahle OC11.
  8. A big group of cars passed a friend of mine earlier on the Loch Kishorn to Applecross road. He and his wife would have been two up on a motorcycle (I assume his Harley).
  9. Presumably CC definition of a 'few' is more than mine is! It certainly had it by the end of 2011. My car went through a similar process at CC Midlands to the one wjblundell described a few posts ago.
  10. Mine was built in May 2009 and CC seem to think it had the old-style Ford diff in it for a few months and then got swapped (previous owner).
  11. Sorry, I really meant "move the battery to where the airbox currently is and then not use the airbox". I get a photo...
  12. My car was one of the first to be fitted with the BMW diff and never had any leaks. It's been refilled at least once.
  13. To use the old-style alloy plenum I reckon it'll be much easier to swap the location of the battery and airbox and use an appropriate K&N that fits. You might need a new throttle body too, but I'm not familiar with the layout of the plastic plenum/single throttle body setup.
  14. 1) Followed you into Glossop off the Snake and then saw you again at the bottom of Holme Moss/Woodhead. 2) You drove past as I was sat on the front beer terrace of The Ball having just left my car at home.
  15. Might be easier to buy a stepper motor.
  16. There are these one on the CC parts store http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=1229
  17. Normal R300 spec. here which hardly uses any oil on road or track.
  18. I'll have a look when I'm back in the office on Friday. Can you email me to both remind me and to give me your address!
  19. I think I've got a spare Dash2 you can borrow for a bit to see how you get on with it.

700newtons - have you looked into the appropriate level of Greenpower?
  21. You should be fine with a 100psi range.
  22. I can vouch for the engineering of Bremont... I help them do some of it!
