  1. The heater valve has developed a minor leak on one of the joints. Anyone know where I can get a small brazing job done or, alternatively, does anyone have a spare they would like to sell? Terry
  2. 2011 (ex November) and 2012 complete - free to good home - donation to NTL at your discretion. Collect (East Grinstead) or local delivery only. Terry
  3. MotorSport mags from Jan 2009 to March 2011 free to good home (donation to NTL at your discretion). Collect (East Grinstead) or local delivery only - they are flippin' heavy! Terry
  4. NAMRICK for nuts and bolts - superb service!
  5. Hi FT I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. After a long saga and much (free) help from Redline, it turned out to be the quill. Believe it or not, it makes a difference depending on whether you put the quill into the box and then attach the angle drive, as opposed to putting the quill into the angle drive and then attaching the lot to the box. At this time of night I can't remember which was the right way, but if you are still having trouble, blat mail me and I will try to find the post of other record Terry
  6. I'm looking for a new rad from my 1996 S3 Crossflow. (See Wanted) CC don't have any in stock, but before I start ringing Redlne etc, are there any other option / suppliers I should be considering? Cheers Terry
  7. I'm looking for an S3 radiator - Ford crossflow - 1996. Mine is looking pretty tired so I am looking for something in reeasonable condition. Terry
  8. Just bought the one that Aeroscreens (Hi Chris!) bought. Surface mounted and looks a very solid bit of kit Terry
  9. Oliver I have the same set up and when I first had the car, the heat from the tunnel was almost unbearably hot. All I did was to seal the edges of the tunnel cover with reasonably thick foam strip so that it fits snugly against the tunnel itself, and that cured the majority of the problem. The tunnel cover has a leather type cover (not plain ally) which is slightly padded and that stops virtually all the heat within reason. I would look strongly at the insulation route Terry
  10. I agree with Dave - the contactless system is great. It might be worth talking to Aldon depending on how much money you want to spend. I had mine fully overhauled, new springs, bearings etc for about £60 IIRC. The would probaly convert it to contactless for not a lot more. Give them a call - they are very helpful Terry
  11. Sorry Guys - had to go with SM25T Ian and buy a big adjustable tool - you never know when you might want one Terry
  12. Does anyone know what size socket is needed for the hex nut?
  13. Thanks for the fine tuning Ian!
  14. Thanks RM, I'll give it a try Terry
  15. Try Curd Bros, Colebrook Industrial Estate (North Farm, Tunbridge Wells) 01982 525398. They refurbed mine of £50 and did a brilliant job; it came back like new - one of the old school experts Terry
  16. The MoT picked up some steering wheel play, but it still passed. The play translates to about 1cm on the outer edge of the steering wheel. All the steering column joints are tight. Can anything be done at the steering rack end to tighten it up, or should I just live with it as it is not noticeable in normal driving. Terry
  17. Johnty Thanks for the link - I should have searched My switch is one of those with a small window in the top which is visible when the switch is on. This has always been accepted by the MoT testers in the past. The problem now seems to be that the switch does not light up at all. As far as i can see there is no way to check the internal bilb, if indeed there is one, so maybe a new switch is called for. Looks like the MoT won't get done this weekend
  18. Used the 7 in the fog today. Rear fog light works OK, but switch does not light up whether it is on or off. I can't remember if that is normal or correct. Can anyone advise please? If the switch light has failed, is that an MOT failure too? Thanks Terry
  19. Sorry to be pedantic, but are you aware where the heater control is (under the right hand side dash). Push this fully in and then check thatthe valve next to the heater has fully closed. It may mean that the control cable needs adjusting to fully close the valve.
  20. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I've recently fitted a Powervamp battery and would like to use a conditioner. Questions: Do the Optimate / Accumate / Ctek work on the Powervamp type of battery? If I fit a cigarette lighter, what size in line fuse should I use? How do I wire up the cigarette lighter? How do I find the time to do it? Terry
  21. Check the plug gaps - they might not have been set properly on the new ones Terry
  22. Decided to have the alternator overhauled anyway as it is probably as old as the car (15years). Curd Bros in Tunbridge Wells (01892 542680) seem to have done a good job - new bearings, new regulator and general tart up for £50. The only new cables I fitted were slightly longer battery cables, so no issues there. Hope to get a new battery and all installed at the weekend. I'm still not sure why the dipped headlights both blew (without the fuse going) but again I hope to sort that at the weekend. Terry
  23. Arnie, Thanks for the offer - much appreciated. I won't be able to get to it for at least a week due to time away work etc, but I may give you a call whenI do. Cheers Terry
