  5. Still in production until just a few years ago. As Jonathan said, built in Brazil. Bizarre to see it on the Brazilian VW website along with the current VW models. We hired one for a week and travelled to Northumberland. Steady progress, not too dissimilar to a 1600 air cooled classic.
  6. Hi Terry Thanks for letting me know, we are just testing the new system at the moment. Meanwhile we will continue to send notification of events via the existing email system to ensure that everyone knows what is going on. I'm glad that the system is working ok and we will let everyone know well in advance if we start to use the new system for communication to members. I'm also aware that folk in the north of the patch have a long way to travel to the meetings, this is a worry for me. We need to arrange more events in North Norfolk too and are thinking about holding a picnic in the summer. Maybe meet up on Cromer Clifftop carpark or somewhere similar. If you have any thoughts, do let me know. Meanwhile, a big thanks for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. All the best Steve
  7. Thanks Andrew! 👍 It's a sort of pinky/brown colour, mystery solved I reckon. It's been there for 28 years in all weathers so it probably started out as pink. Makes perfect sense when you know the answer. Thanks to Jonathan too.
  8. Yes please, I haven't got that 👍
  9. "Does the immobiliser work as it should?" I don't know, used it a couple of times when I got the car. On one occasion I couldn't unlock it to start the car, so I stopped using it. "And if it does could that be a feed to a siren or similar that isn't there any more??" Sounds possible. I would say that this 1996 car is almost totally original and hasn't been tampered with during my ownership of 24 years. Thanks for the feedback.
  10. Following an investigation into an ongoing speedometer problem, I found this wire not connected to anything. It's colour is brown and comes out of the connector on the Lucas box. Fixed on the vertical bulkhead under the dash. Immediately forward of the speedo and the steering wheel. Is it supposed to go anywhere? 🙂
  11. A common problem in that style of seat. Both of mine went early on in their life. Derek Moore at Classic Carriage Mallory Park welded them, then welded a steel washer into the corner for extra strength. They are still going strong after 24 years and 65k miles of fun.
  12. Hi John Thanks for letting me know, we are just testing the new system at the moment. Meanwhile we will continue to send notification of events via the existing email system to ensure that everyone knows what is going on. I think that you enabled email notifications on the area by ticking the appropriate boxes. I can see that you had already "joined" the area and must have already "followed" the area too. Well done that man, we need to get all 92 members signed up that way, then we can migrate away from the clunky LoveAdmin system. Thanks for the feedback. Steve
  13. The meeting is on the first Monday of the month as always. The date of the next meeting is 1st April. .
  14. Hi Chris Thanks for letting me know, we are just testing the new system at the moment. Meanwhile we will continue to send notification of events via the existing email system to ensure that everyone knows what is going on. There will be a meeting at the Scole Inn on the 1st April, it's already in the main club calendar https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/events and an email will be sent to everyone in about a weeks time. Hope to meet up soon. All the best Steve
  15. Thanks Tony The intention is to configure it so that an email is sent out to all members. Until it's working properly we will continue to send emails from LoveAdmin as we do at present. We wouldn't want anyone to miss out on anything. The Leadership Team is trying to prevent further expenditure on LoveAdmin, and this method on the new website may do the trick. Needs a bit more work though! Thanks for spotting the message flag and for sending feedback, it's appreciated very much. All the best Steve
  16. Hi John The bell alert thing is the website messaging system. The intention is to also email all members as well to ensure that nobody misses any events. It's a bit experimental at the moment! Ultimately the Club Management wish to use this method so that costs associated with LoveAdmin can be lost. Your feedback is valuable, many thanks. Steve
  17. I think we are getting closer to understanding this. Did you Both get an email to let you know that there was a news update? I added this blog to the Area News blog. If I had just edited the existing page rather than adding a blog to it, would that have the same effect? Do members need to follow the blog or is it sufficient to just follow the area Thanks for your help.
  18. Anybody out there? If you got an email, could you reply? Thanks
  19. This Area News Page will be the way that Kingsley and I communicate events to members at some point in the future. Meanwhile we will continue to circulate all notifications and events by email. 🙂
  20. Just to wrap this up and for anybody else in the future, I decided to go with Caerbont Automotive instruments: http://www.caigauge.com They are a continuation of the original manufacturer, Smiths Instruments. The sales person was very helpful in identifying an exact replacement complete with square edge pre SVA bezel, Caterham logo and trip meter reset cable. The part number is SN5234-16 - There was actually a paper label on the original speedo and this helped identify the correct part. It's approximately six weeks for them to build one, they don't keep them in stock. Price at the moment is £309.30 including VAT and postage.
  21. Hi It's on the way to Sevens and Classics, feel free to contact Andy Noble if you are interested - Phone 01474 871184 or email enquiries@sevensandclassics.com All the best Steve
  22. OK, apologies. I should have said that it's a cable driven speedo rather than a later pulse driven one. Still looking.....
  23. Thanks for your post DirtBuddha, I have sent a message.
