  1. I used a cheap camping rollmat from tesco and stuck it on with araldite. Two years, sticky tyres, lots of miles and no cracks. Now just need to sort out the sides of the car as they look like they've been shot by a mad farmer!! Beaulieu #28
  2. *arrowup*Mine's exactly the same but eight years old now! Beaulieu #28
  3. Have you been along to the north east meet at the Church Mouse pub? Good opportunity to try different cars for size. Beaulieu #28

    Reducing weight

    Love it! Beaulieu #28
  5. You could get a bigger windscreen Brian! 😬 Beaulieu #28
  6. Sorry for the hijack, but what did you do to your vx 8 valve to get 150bhp? Cheers Beaulieu #28

    A frame bushes

Normally just the central (2 x Y9) as these perish due to heat and oil from the diff. I've replaced mine about six times in 26000 miles and the outer bushes are still original and look new! Beaulieu #28

    A frame bushes

exactly the way I do it. Simples! 😬 Beaulieu #28

    A frame bushes

Ah, but there is the problem! Don't all Ital diffs leak a bit? Especially if slightly overfilled to keep the diff alive on track days. Beaulieu #28

    A frame bushes

It was fantastic! 😬 Beaulieu #28

    A frame bushes

I had to replace mine half way through our honeymoon tour of europe (3500 miles). I did mine on a beach, dug a pit as only had the normal jack!! Really easy job, change them before you go and then they may get you all the way around plus you'll know how to do it. Beaulieu #28
  12. Russ, do everything except the lifters, wouldn't be the same going on a blat without chitty chitty bang bang!!! 😳 Beaulieu #28
  13. What day are you going to the show Peter? I'm considering going on the Saturday and will be going in my pathfinder which should fit the cage in easily. Beaulieu #28
  14. I Meant to ask you about that one before. Was it a damp road, wet road or standing water? Concerned now as with my figure I obviously have far less weight pushing my rubber down onto the road!! 😬 Beaulieu #28
  15. Is that a good or bad fuuuuuuuuuuck Brian? Beaulieu #28
  16. Living in one of the cooler parts of the country I was also concerned by the warning stickers on the tyre. However, mine lives outside most of the time and has no problems. Also I find the grip amazing in the wet! I guess if left to stand in freezing conditions for a long period of time there might be a problem. So drive it everyday!! Beaulieu #28
  17. Half hood - fantastic when you aren't travelling with ivor biggun and his fan heater with an unfeasably long extension lead 😬 seriously, mine is a daily driver in the wettest part of the country and the half hood is the only hood used. Car is also parked outside 99% of the time. Get one! Beaulieu #28
  18. The starting problem sounds like battery. When using the jump leads are you getting a really good clean connection? When you connect the last negative connection to an earth point on the chassis/engine is there some sparking? If not the jump leads aren't doing anything to help. As for the revs dropping this could be related or could be something totally unrelated. Good luck Beaulieu #28
  19. Click on the link below and look in 'my caterham', I've put a picture of the French 7 there. The tyres look HUGE! 😬 Beaulieu #28
  20. Saw these sizes on a 7 in France a couple of weeks ago. Have to say, it looked a bit too big on the front and out of proportion with the cycle wings! Also, will it actually give a bigger contact patch? Obviously the tyre is wider, but as the pressure is spread over the width, what you gain in width you must lose over the length of the contact area? I'd also expect to feel a lot more 'tram lining' with wider fronts. Beaulieu #28
  21. Check the pictures in the link below to see how to load!! 😬 Beaulieu #28
  22. The araldite takes up so little space if you get the twin (joined together) syringe type. Yes it does withstand heat. My radiator split where the metal piece of pipe joins the actual radiator. Glued it, let it harden for half hour, put the rubber pipe back on and it's still there 15,000 miles later without a leak! This was whilst on tour in Italy in the summer, so very hot! Beaulieu #28
  23. I had this with my throttle. I found the cable was very long, seemed too long so I shortened it a bit so it still had a good radius to the curve without being excessive. Made it considerably lighter. However, when it snapped and I got the caterham replacement it was very long again, and when fitted heavier! I've yet to shorten it and find out if this is definitely the problem. Beaulieu #28
  24. Make sure you get the 'Rapid' version Beaulieu #28
  25. My car is live axle, so it gets through the bushes that hold the A frame to the diff rather quickly! Especially when in hot countries touring. Only a ten minute job to change them and the tools I carry do the job. A breeze block or similar under each rear wheel gives enough height to do the job!! The araldite is handy for things like radiator repairs when the hole is to big for something like radweld to fix. Beaulieu #28
