  1. Does anybody know where I could find a pair of Austin Princess front calipers, are they readily available from scrappers - does anyone specialise? Any info gratefully received. Hubcap
  2. Now sold to Martin Whiteley.
  3. 1700 xflow (AX block) in standard Caterham 'supersprint' 135bhp spec. Done 10k miles in a '96 live axle car. Excellent engine pulls well and revs cleanly to 7000rpm, no oil leaks, for sale complete with inlet manifold and twin 40 webers, reinforced sump, oil filter manifold for oil cooler, etc. Full print out from rolling road tune showing 112bhp at the rear wheels (equating to 130bhp+ at the flywheel). Looking for £950. (Could also do a deal on a 4 speed box if required). Hubcap
  4. I agree with Lee, it is almost certainly the halfshaft moving in the bearing. With the back end suspended and the wheels off the ground, yif you can pull the wheel in and out - a movement of around 10-15mm - then that is the problem.
  5. see my ad for pair of cloth seats - if interested. Hubcap

    seats etc

1 Pair of black cloth adjustable seats with headrests (removable) from 96 live axle car - £50 ono. Wings - BRG flared variety in reasonable condition (one has a small craze) - £50 ono. Hubcap
  7. Wanted steel con rods for 1700 xflow. Must be 5.230" itenms. Would also be interested in any other steel / competition 1700 xflow components out there! Hubcap
  8. Technical querie - can you replace a 4 speed Escort sport type box (on a live axle xflow car) with a 'type 9' 5 speeder?? I am interested in a s/c c/r box if anyone has one for sale? Hubcap
  9. Hi Mick If no body else wants them I would be interested in your 13/14" yellow cycle wings, how much are you looking for them? Hubcap

    LSD

I fitted a Quaife atb diff on my 1700 supersprint live (Ital) axle. Excellent traction in slow corners, very smooth and no inside wheel spinning - in fact you would hardly know it was there. Cost £450 plus a few quid to fit. Only downside is a bit of a whine - like an s/c box, but otherwise very pleased. Hubcap
  11. Casbar I am thinking of changing the reversing lights to one of the fogs with clear lenses. Is there anything else I should know, e.g. different bulb wattage etc?? I will have a look at your link to wiring products, are they cheaper than Caterham? (do bears s**t in the woods?) Hubcap
  12. If the clunk happens once on cornering, I suspect that it is the halfshaft moving in the bearings, and probably not the A-frame bush. There was a thread recently on this problem, my fix was to press collars onto the halfshafts behind the bearings -so far this has been a complete success. Look back at previous postings. Hubcap
  13. Dave If he is looking to change to flared wings, be aware that the wingstays are different, I would do a swap if he doesn't have any flared-type stays. Even if his cycle wings are a bit tatty, I may still be interested having them as spares. Hubcap
  14. Dave If your mate has some cycle wings and wingstays and is looking to sell them let me know. Hubcap
  15. Hi there I have a pair of front flared wings - but in BRG, they are in good condition complete with wingstays and repeaters. Let me know if they are of interest. Hubcap
  16. Hi Mike I am interested in your wingstays, are they in reasonable nick? email me on shubner@globalnet.co.uk Hubcap
  17. Forgive my ignorance, what exactly are clamshells, flared or cycle wings? I am after a pair of cycle wings plus stays for 13" wheels, preferably in BRG or yellow. Hubcap

    XFLOW SUMP

    No problem ! Hubcap

    XFLOW SUMP

Dave I am in the process of converting my x-flow to dry sump, I will have a Caterham supersprint steel sump pan available in the near future, how desperate are you for it, it could be a couple of weeks? The sump pan is in good nick, with extra reinforcement welded to the underside - no leaks! Hubcap
  20. Hi there, I think the part numbers Nigel refers to are the same as the springs I fitted to my 7, from memory these are 50% stiffer than standard i.e. approx 220lb/in front and 120lb/in rear. They seem to work pretty well, the handling is much better and with the dampers set on soft still quite comfortable on the road. I have just uprated the front suspension by fitting the extra top front link (as the scholarship cars) with a 5/8" arb in place of the standard 3/8" item. Not had a chance to test it yet! Anyone else had experience of this? As far as tyre pressures go, 19-20 psi (cold) seems about right on 185/70 13" 021R's. Hubcap
  21. Hi Steve http://www.quaife.co.uk/ The kit costs £450 plus VAT. Tony Thorpe has had his box converted, seemd very happy with it when I spoke to him at Curborough. If you read this Tony then share your thoughts with us! Hubcap
  22. Steve Unless you really need the taller 5th gear, how about a Quaife close ratio gear kit? It would save a lot of hassle with changing mountings etc. The ratios are 2.5:1, 1.64:1, 1.22:1, 1:1 I am thinking of installing a kit this winter, it would seem to be the easiest and cheapest solution to getting a close ratio gear set. Hubcap
  23. Hi Graham I have a tonneau that you could have - let me know if intersted (I'll bring it with me when I pick up the roll cage and wheels). Hubcap
  24. What cam does the 1700 x-flow have as supplied by Caterham in supersprint spec, I was led to believe that it was a Kent 234, is this correct? If so would a move to a 244 cam be beneficial, especially on the track, rather than the road (given the valves remaining as supersprint size), or would a fair amount of head work be needed before the cam upgrade became worthwhile? Hubcap
  25. Does anyone know of a source of honeycomb ali sheet or other material which is suitable for fuel tank protection. The kit from Caterham is a bit pricey imho, surely there must be a cheaper alternative which is still MSA legal i.e. crushable structure? Hubcap
