  5. I have two K series starter motors available, both checked and working properly. One of them is a Powerlite but the brand of the other is unknown. £80 each plus £6.95 postage (or collect from between Basingstoke and Reading).
  6. I have not used the equipment for several years so it is time to make some space. I am offering it to club members before advertising at a higher price on an auction site. It is a decent quality and sturdy Trak-rite wheel alignment system with the measurement determined by a reflected light beam. All the instructions are with it. £60 In an ideal world this will be collection only, or meet part way, because of size, weight and age of the original box. I am between Basingstoke and Reading. However, if you are further away contact me and we can consider the feasibility of delivery. /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2632%20Large.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2633%20Large.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2634%20Large.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2635%20Large.jpeg
  7. Thanks Stephen. I have sent details to you. Sold subject to payment and collection.
  8. A set of four arm restraints i.e. for driver and passenger. They are black and unbranded. £30, postage paid by me.
  9. Four 13 inch diameter anthracite 8 spoke wheels, two are 8 inch wide and two are 6 inch wide. One of the 8 inch wheels is marked where a balance weight was fitted in the wrong place. They have only been used for track days and have always been garaged. The tyres are Toyo Proxes R888 SG. They should be good for another couple of track days - I think they have done two so far. There are two each of 205/60R13 and 185/60R13. £350. Collection only from Basingstoke/Reading area. /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2629%20Medium_0.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/768/IMG_2630%20Medium.jpeg
  10. There is nothing on the Superlight R register that looks like this car. Therefore, be careful in case it is a look-a-like rather than original.

    Fog light

Caterham has confirmed that it was designed to operate this way. The proof is in the wiring diagram which shows that the fused live for the fog lamp comes from the dipped beam circuit. If anyone else suffers a similar MoT failure and finds this in the archives, I have the email from Caterham and can forward it.

    Fog light

Thanks for the replies. The failure note is that the lamp has been adversely affected by the operation of another lamp. I have contacted Caterham and am hoping that I can obtain a confirmation that the lamp is operating as intended. With any luck that should then satisfy the tester.

    Fog light

I've just had an interesting MoT note. The fog light works on dipped beam but goes out on main beam. It is something I have not noticed before and a quick look has not identified anything (so more detailed investigation to follow). Has anyone else come across this or know what the likely cause is? It seems strange to have a fog light working on main beam as in real fog you should only be using dipped beam.
  14. The VHPD was built by Minster Engines (not Minister). They no longer trade and the company closed.
  15. Thanks Ian. I am going to an autojumble tomorrow and will be able to get some there. The car is not at home at the moment so I could not measure it myself.
  16. For a K series. what is the diameter of the oil pipe from the sump to the scavenge pump?
  17. If the price is reasonable I will be interested in a plaque that is close to original quality. Also, I wonder if the first few SLRs did not have plaques and Caterham only thought of it during early marketing. I have No.2 which was the press and Nurburgring car and it has never had a plaque fitted but the press car would surely have done if it had been thought of at that point.
  18. Thanks Adam, that has solved the problem.
  19. I have a K series 1.8 VHPD on Jenvey TBs and Emerald ecu that has been off the road for about six years. The rebuilt engine is installed and it fired up first time. It ticks over smoothly but as soon as any throttle is applied it dies. I am seeking ideas on what may be causing this. I have already drained all the old fuel, put in fresh super unleaded, run the engine to clear any old fuel residue and then changed the fuel filter. When draining the tank the petrol pump was creating sufficient pressure to squirt fuel out at the fuel rail. The light on the back of the ecu is green suggesting that crank movement is being detected and the sensor is fine. I have swapped no.4 injector for one of the others in case a faulty injector was causing problems with the lambda sensor. Thanks, Andy
  20. I have a combined gauge on my K series and think it is Racetech (can't be sure as the car is at a different location). The temperature reading is taken from the bottom nearside of the bellhousing tank but may have been placed there as the most accessible place to tap with the engine and box in situ.
  21. Tom Airey only does carbs. If you have SUs that you need setting then he is your man.
  22. Dave The swan neck you have came off one of the very first SLRs and the car was to some extent a prototype. I have come across several items that are different from the later cars and am aware that the SLR race series managed to sort out many gremlins. There was definitely no support bracket for the swan neck on the car and suspect this was one of the modifications made as production continued. Andy
  23. Hi Paul I have suffered an engine rebuild because of a securing bolt coming loose and the clip being ingested. The solution I have is to drill through the heads of the bolts and then use lock wire so that they cannot come undone. There are five bolts; two at each end and one in the middle. When the end bolts are tightened I lock wire them together so neither can turn. The middle bolt I lock wire to part of the throttle assembly.
  24. Thanks for all the interest. David and Jonathan will most likely have all the parts. If there is anything they don't want I will let you know. Regards, Andy
  25. If anybody would like a standard radiator, exhaust silencer or ECU off a 1997 Superlight R I have one of each available. They came off the car approximately 10 years ago and have been stored indoors since then. All were in good order when upgraditis struck. I also have the swan neck inlet manifold with Rover throttle bodies and ITG air filter available. The manifold has a crack in it but the throttle bodies should be fine. They are FOC (donation to NTL optional) and collection is from Farnham (GU9).
