  1. Roger King, is about 30-40 miles from Reading. All Motorway. Robert
  2. Had the same problem with my 91 live axle. A good spray of grease used to sort it out. I have now changed the shocks for Leda's, the springs are a different diameter, so caused a different problem. All creaking now sorted out. Robert

My hoods got a zipped rear window, and thats from a 91 car. Though it must be said that the hood is as new!!!
  4. Chris, Don't know, I used to have a landrover, so I've got some spairs. Robert
  5. I've recently changed my shocks on my live axle to adj Leda's. I could do with some guidance on correct ride height. I set the ride height to 155mm in front of the rear wheels and 140 mm where the floor pan finishes (as advised by Catherham). When in the car, with a full load of fuel, the ride height drops to 145 at the rear wheels and 135 at the front of the floor pan, then there isn't 10mm difference between front and rear. Therefore, do you have to set the rear much higher out of the car (165ish) so when in, the 155 - 140 is maintained. The rear will obviously drop more than the front. Robert
  6. The blades are from the series 3 and older Landrover's. You can get them from any Landrover dealership.
  7. If you go to http://www.superlite-wheels.co.uk/, they explain how to measure the PCD. Robert
  8. It might be an idea if we knew what gearbox is fitted and to what engine. As a cross flow with 4 speed box, deff has the push in affair with the very dif circlip
  9. It is not unusal for the right angle drive to fail. You can replace the drive without removing the gearbox. Its fiddly. A friend of mine came up with the solution of lock wireing the circlip together, fitting it, then cutting the wire. This was reasonably sucessful, making sure you get all the wire out! Robert
  10. I have my ride height set as per the recs - Rear just in front of the rear wheel - 155mm. Front, at the point where the floor pan finishes, 140mm. There has to be at least 10-15mm diff between rear and front. This gives me about 3 3/4 inch under sump. I initially set up 140mm measured at the second horizontal bar at the front of the car, that gave me 4 inches under the sump, but was too high. The car started to oversteer, so I lowered to the rec settings and everything seems ok. Remember to set ride height with full tank of gas and someone in the drivers seat. Robert
  11. I went for 110 on the back and 300 on the front. Fully adjustable for height and rate. Robert
  12. Chris, I have a 90 live axle. I upgraded my supsension to Leda adj from James Whiting. They are quite expensive, but the ride is now very good. You can save about £50.00 by buying direct from Leda. I can advise/help if required. I live in Wilts. My number is 07712 840419, if you need to chat. I went through all the options before deciding on the Leda's Robert
  13. I got my replacement battery from James Whiting. Fitted straight in, and came fully charged.
  14. If its jets or chokes you are after, Roger King can supply - 01922 421111. If its parts such as servicing kits, I use Berliner Fuel Systems from Salisbury. They can provide mail order. You'll have to find the number through directory enquiries. Rgds, Robert
  15. I have a cross flow, and have gone through bad starting and battery and starter motor change. I live in Wilts, so am happy to offer any adivce/help. Getting the battery out, can take a little time, mine can be removed from below the car, if you have a cross member that runs under the battery, then you have to take off the carbs and move the steering linkage. This depends on the year of the car. Charging the batter in situ, is easy, and takes differing time, I normally charge overnight on a trickle charge. Rgds, Robert

Sorry, at this moment in time, the sidescreens are gone. If anything changes, I will post again. Tks, Robert
  17. John, I did pre load the suspension. The brake switch fitting went fine, I took the old one out, and slotted the new one in. It didn't lose any fluid. The switch works better, but you still have to push the peddal quite hard. ****** The Leda's work well on my live axle, the ride is a lot better. I went with 110 lbs springs on the rear. The Spax's I had, def over damped the car. I haven't changed the front as yet, cash flow and lack of understanding wife problem!!
  18. I've replaced the rear Spax's with Leda's. The ride is a lot better, but the two dampers/springs creak. I've tried spraying grease on the top and bottom securing points. They don't seemt to be rubbing, as they can be swung on the rose joints quite easily. Is it normal to hear some supsension creak? Any ideas? Robert

Edward, The ignition is electronic. It doesn't have a side exit cap, as I kept the original for my comp ignition. The caps are about £14.00. I was using it on a kent 234 cam Robert

  23. My mate converted his 89 live axle from flared to cycle wings a couple of years ago. It still looks really good. A body shop filled the holes with some kind of special fibreglass. The car had to be re-sprayed, but from the outside you can't tell it used to have cycle wings. Robert
  24. Mat, The tail pipe has been polished, I have used the heat cover over the silencer. The can doesn't rattle. I have no idea of price, make me a sensible offer, its obviously no use to me anymore. Give me a call, or mail me offline. 07712 840419 Rgds, Robert
  25. I've just bought a 4 -1 Comp exhaust from Caterham. i've a 91 x flow. Can anyone advise on how to make the exit hole larger from the engine bay, so 4 pipes can fit through. (Clean answers only please) Robert
