  1. Dan, Not on the first message this morning.....
  2. "'Membership" number is your comp licences number. (Which I found by trial and error :-) )
  3. 'still looking... I've learned a little over the last few days having been offered a couple of sets of radius arms, neither of which were the latest type with two depressed sections (one to clear the brake caliper, and the other to offer increased clearance to the tyre). I'm pretty sure this design is at least twenty years old, as its the style supplied with my 2002 kit.
  4. Hi WOBBLYWEB, you should have blatmail.
  5. Todays hillclimb at Prescott is being live-streamed on YouTube. Tom and I are running in the modified specialist production class as numbers 80 and 780. the clubs speed championship classes are running after the Midland championship class runs, but before the two Midland top 12 run offs.
  6. Hi Dan. sadly a loan won't work as I want to cut them up! :-)
  7. 'Anyone got a pair of standard dedion radius arms that are surplus to their requirement? or even any odd ones? UPDATED I originally requested Imperial radius arms, but, I'm now sure that I could use radius arms from a metric car.
  8. I normally aim to arrive at no later than seven on the Saturday morning to set up ('not had a problem getting into the paddock before seven). By the time we're trying to get out of the paddock and across to the orchard to leave the trailer, the paddock to orchard route is already getting busy!).
  9. Andy, Yes, its normal for folks to arrive on Friday for a Saturday meeting and camp overnight. 'can't help about paying for parking. Page 2 of the finals:- TIMETABLE & RUNNING ORDER Friday 22nd July 1300 – Orchard and Paddock opens 1600 -Clubhouse open for drinks 1800-2000- Clubhouse open for food Saturday 23rd July 0700 – Paddock opens 0745 – Scrutineering commences in running order 0820 – Engines start 0830 – FIRST PRACTICE RUNS – order as per above SECOND PRACTICE RUN Lunch FIRST TIMED RUNS SECOND TIMED RUNS 1700(est) – Hill closes. Paddock & Orchard close – all vehicles removed from the Paddock 1730(est) – Clubhouse closes In the paddock, during a meeting, you're only allowed the competition car. The tow car and trailer needs to be parked in the orchard (on the opposite side of the track to the paddock). We normally bring the tow car and trailer into the paddock, unload all we're likely to need into the paddock space, then take the tow car and trailer across to the orchard (hoping to park up reasonably close to the foot bridge to get back to the paddock). Yes, before and after the meeting the main entrance is used to access the paddock, and leaving to get to the orchard via the main entrance again. However, to get the competition car back to the trailer before the end of the meeting, you normally need to drive out of the side entrance of the paddock and on the public road to get to the main entrance to get to the orchard. I've never stayed right to the end of a meeting, but I understand it gets VERY congested with folks trying to get trailers in and out of the paddock!! We normally pack as much of the heavier stuff into the seven, and make a couple of trips across the foot bridge with light and bulky stuff like suits, boots, and helmets etc. (and, running, slicks, another trip with a sack truck with another set of wheels and tyres......)
  10. John/Purplemeanie, Gosh. your post took some reading.... :-) For sprint/hillclimb use (as this post is in the "Speed" section), our primary requirement is to be able to quickly and easily review the run that we've just done. So its important to catch the information we need using hardware alone, so talk of using a separate sound recorder and post production is inappropriate in this instance. I normally review a each run soon after the run, often simply on my phone. I'm looking to see how I can improve my next run. I started out using a bullet cam and a separate recorder at just 640x480 resolution, which is actually quite adequate. Actually, I feel that sound without wind noise is far more useful that image quality. Justin, Something else you may wish to think about is using some analysis software along with one of the GPS enabled GoPros. RaceTechnology offer a standalone GoPro package:- https://www.race-technology.com/gb/racing/products/video/video_gopro-only 'not as useful as a full datalogging package like I use, but may still be useful to understand your performance.
  11. Oh, at 720p 60fps, dual driving, a 32gb card is big enough for half a season of hillclimbs.

  14. Justin, As discussed at the weekend, both Tom and I are using GoPro Hero4 blacks. We only ever record at 720p, but at 60fps. 720p still looks great on a 40" TV, but keeps file sizes (so download times) more manageable. We're using GoPro Smart remotes for remote control. In my opinion, using a remote microphone is an essential feature. We both use a cheap stereo microphone, but mounted under the dash to pick up engine sound without being drowned out by wind noise (I find that the sound is often almost as useful as the vision) I've found that battery life is inadequate for a days competition (particularly if you forget to turn it off [including WIFI] between runs). I normally charge the camera between runs from a USB socket I have under the dash. I find watching video from many of the current crop of GoPros irritates me, where it looks like the camera is mounted on a swinging bracket. I find it difficult to concentrate on watching what is going on. I suspect it can be disabled in image stabilisation settings. As you've seen from my clips, I use a narrow angle of view so that I can see enough of the sides of the track, but no more than I actually need to see. I now only use either standard Iphone software on the phone, or GoPro Player, to trim individual clips.
  15. Stu, My standard tacho seems to over read throughout the rev range when compared to what my data logger and shift lights say.
  16. Stu, is it a complete, ready to use, open 3.38diff? if so, why not swap the diff and try the 3.38 ratio with your 6speed and see how you like it. if you like it, drop it out again and have it rebuilt with the suretrack in it.
  17. Yes, i've just entered :-)
  18. Oops. Yes. I've now edited my post.
  19. P.mole1, What springs and dampers all round? What ARB's front and rear? What do you mean by that? As a rough guide, I's say that -1.25° camber is way too little for track use. If its steering weight you'd like to increase, that increasing castor may help (more washers behind the lower wishbones).
  20. I'm pretty sure it was actually 2002 that was the first year academy cars had the tunnel mounted hand brake (the same year I originally assemble my car)
  21. My sons 2001 race chassis does have the underslung A frame.

    Brake hose

Graham, I don't have a hose made up, but I do have a length of hose and a selection of fittings. The standard hoses have a 3/8 UNF bulkhead fitting on the chassis end, and a have a couple of those. What fitting do you need to connect to the caliper? If its a 3/8 UNF female swivel, then you're in luck, I can make a hose up in the morning.
  23. I use a pretty cheap remote mic under dash. using image stabilisation seems pretty popular with cameras that have it, but I really don't like watching these clips where it looks like the camera is swinging from side to side.... with a solid mount, there is no need to use image stabilisation.
