  1. If the car has a lambda sensor it will only give a richer mixture untill the lambda value is returned to the ECU... Probably not worth it then /r
  2. The waek point on most VW rear calipers is that the handbrake seizes, not that the caliper is unable to handle the power of a 850kgs VW Golf. /r
  3. Tony, it's probably one of the funny things about Internet Explorer, if you copy and paste, and have a space, it'll translate it to some <20%> ish - which obviously does not work! Been there myself recently... /regin
  4. Link doesn't work, Try http://www.lotus-cortina.com/library/block/blocks.htm instead /r Edited to correct embarrasing typo! /r 😳 Edited by - RJ on 17 Oct 2004 21:31:26

    SEVEN FOR SALE

There's a pic here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=30451&s=39&sc=QCFP It looks like it actually exists! And I would like to see it sold ❗ /r

    Floorpan falling off

    They all do that Sir!
  7. If it's black - not grey - blue - ish, then it's probably only because the engine is running rich. Could one of your sensors - presumably a temperature one or the map one - have given up?
  8. I think it was Arnies special friend Joachim that once had the experience of a disintegrating flywheel. I saw some pictures of this, and I would NEVER take the risk of such a thing! /r

    Engine weights

Have had a std VVC engine on the bathroom scales ( at 1st floor ) with lightened flywheel and bellhousing: 88kgs. This was with wiring loom and induction system - and no oil! /r
  10. You could have done the valve and piston impact by forcing the engine to too high revs - whatever this would be called in English If you do a compression test and it's ok, I'd expect the engine to be so. /r

    Items

I'll second that Neither have I a problem about it, but it definitely would make sense to seterate these ads from the others. /r
  12. If you've got 14v at the battery I'd say that the only options are dead battery or faulty wiring between the battery and the starter Suppose you haven't got lights on the car? you could try to load the battery by simply connecting headlamp bulbs to the battery and see if it works. If your battery is 14Ah and fully charged I'd expect two bulbs in parallel to light up for at least an hour or so - if the bulbs are 55W /r
  13. Silver solder - definately! Ordinary solder performs great electric contact but is most unreliable mechanically! Needs to be very clean, which could be a problem with a bowden cable. /regin
  14. The linkage is likely to be worn. VW do - or has done a kit for this. It can be a nightmare to allign the lever if there is any slack in the linkage. /regin
  15. Milo, as I said, I have recently had exactly the same problem. It was completely cured by flipping the bracket upside down. The brave Simon Lambert told me to move the sender untill it sat exactly over the middle of the caphead bolts; the input of the Stack has a software filtering to prevent it from reading both edges so to say. It still works! /regin

Come on Arnie, You know you'd love it 😬 /r Edited by - RJ on 5 Sep 2004 20:32:12
  17. You can in fact find a picture of the bracket at Douby's build page here http://www.biggles.net/images/Build/00046.jpg /r
  18. I've recently had exactly the same problem. The sender just passed the edge of the cap head bolts that retains the disc. What I did was to turn the bracket retaining the sensor 180 deg so that the sender did pass the center of the bolts. /regin Edited by - RJ on 4 Sep 2004 20:54:54
  19. Mike, No problem. Should you change your mind, please remember that I'll "happily" pay any cost involved in posting the items. /r
  20. Mike, you haven't replied to my mail - have I upset you by suggesting the bits to be posted disregards you state "and to avoid hassle the bidder collects as well"? /r
  21. Mike, YHM re items no 1, 5,6 & 7 /r
  22. I've got the wiring diagrams for almost any Rover if that helps? /regin
  23. Duncan, An increasing number of people have shameless links to their companies directly from their signature, why shouldn't you? (O-oooh! Now I may get in bad standing 😳 ) /r

Mark, didn't you get my email? I asked quite a few questions a couple of days ago, one of these has just been answered... that it's for a K-series, which means that it has the shorter input shaft, which I believe does not fit X-flow. But how about upgrades to recent specs, how many miles from new - and how old? /regin
