  1. Hi I recently took my BMW diff out leaving the carrier in the car. This was fairly easy. I took the A frame off to give more room, which was also easy. The problem was to get the diff back in. Plan A was to leave the carrier in the car. However, this turned out to be very difficult. Plan B was to take the carrier out, fit the diff to the carrier and then fit carrier plus diff back in the car. This wasn't easy, but it was possible. I think the reason that Plan B worked better than Plan A is that there is no give between the diff and the carrier, but there is some give between the carrier and the chassis. Luckily a fellow member with much more skill and experience than me helped. Many thanks Graham. Hope that helps. Good luck. Ivan

  4. Hi Sorry, I forgot to mention that 4 plastic centre caps come with the wheels. Unfortunately on one of the centre caps, two of the locating lugs are broken, but I think a repair could be effected. Hope this helps.

  12. Hi Try replacing the flasher unit. Mine developed an intermittent fault - sometimes it flashed, sometimes the indicators just stayed on. I replaced the flasher unit with a £2 one from Amazon and so far so good. Best of luck with yours. Ivan
  13. Hi I had my new diff plate and new diff carrier fitted at Caterham Midland yesterday. It took around 4 hours. The installation seems fine. Service was friendly and professional and the technician talked me through the work carrier out. All in all a good experience. Ivan
  14. Hi Have just taken my starter motor out. To get at the difficult bolt I took the oil filter off and then used a ball end hex key. Hope this helps. Good luck with yours. Ivan
  15. Hi I hope the following may help. In the olden days when I had a Spitfire (no giggling at the back, please) I had the same problem. It turned out that the rubber sealing ring was too thin. It could be seen to stand a little proud of the filter before being fitted but when I tightened it the metal part of the filter was seated on the block and it leaked. I replaced it with the seal from the old filter and all was well. Good luck in finding a solution. Ivan

  22. Hi Guys With my arm firmly twisted up my back herewith follows my maiden post. Actually, thanks for the encouragement. Also many thanks for yesterday. It was most enjoyable. I am still getting used to the pace of these events so apologises if I held anybody up. The choice of Katie for my UserName is because it is the name I have given my car. I suppose from the choice you could interpret that I am firmly in touch with my feminine side or just that I'm a plonker. Thank you for reminding me of my untraditional discarded diesel dalliance earlier in the season. I had almost forgotten but, of course, best to remain grounded. Writing of which, thank you Peter for your suggestions regarding my low slung nuts. On the way home I seem to have lost you Peter. I did turn back but couldn't find you. In the end I concluded you got a better offer (not difficult to imagine). Relieve to see your post as I assume that means you got home. Kind Regards Ivan
