  1. Just reading 213-04.com archive and came across reference to Catstart keyless engine start by Chris wyles what was this system, how did it work, was it a garden shed project because Google can't find it
  2. Yes I've considered it, one thing that worries me is what to do with the immobiliser fob and how to stop people turning the engine over if they manage to locate your ignition switch, what do most people use as the ignition switch, is it an aircraft type switch or some other method phil
  3. Having managed to lose my keys, I'm after a ignition/ steering lock with key, I've ready bought a replacement alarm immobiliser so I imagine the keys will turn up at time now thanks for looking phil
  4. I phone BG Delelopements very knowledgeable people they narrowed it down to a couple of calliper types, I've had measure the centres between the bridge pipe connections to identify the actual AP type, on the calliper there's an etched number does anybody know this from a R300 2004 black callipers
  5. Was that tongue in cheek or do genuinely have something I can think about?
  6. Does anybody know where I can buy the bridge pipe that fits at the bottom between the 2 halfs of the caliper, mine has has started weeping, I don't believe Caterham stock replacement parts for AP/ Caterham calipers and don't fancy tightening any further thanks phil
  7. Jonathan you can see how bored I am, it's going to be a long recovery, 6 week before I can drive, even looking forward to the district nurse on Friday. PS still no keys phil
  8. I thought I would write just to correct our poor deluded seller, below is what I wrote to him and his reply to me, I don't believe he got that asking price YOU: You cannot be serious with your asking price and difficulty involved in reassembling the body work, this a specialist job, normal Arch Motor would complete this sort of work, this involves bending and shaping the panels with heating to the desired shape, once this has been completed it then requires welding in place. Have a read on the lotus seven forum some of the posts relating to the sale and check on Pistonheads for similar assembled car Phil New message from: t-please (206 [Turquoise Star] ) Well as u know opinions are like arse holes- everyone has one!! Forums are full of armchair experts and they are in effect Cyber terrorists talking things down waffling about something they aint physically seen However as Kim told his engineer " I know what Im doing" Man came saw paid collected the car this afternoon and gave my mate the money we wanted for it and he is chuffed with his purchase
  9. I bought a pair from the previous batch and I also experienced the headlight hole being undersized, but I also required a way of getting the lighting cable into the tube section so I drill a hole on the underside below the indicator and fed the cables this way, work perfectly, this hides all the cabling, I believe that the new brackets should incorporate this hole. phil
  10. Caterham are out of stock, anybody have an unused Caterham X Power badge for the rear panel thanks phil
  11. R300 1800cc K Series fuel pressure regulator on a injected engine, there looks as there should be a maybe a small plastic hose fitted, if so where does the other end go to thanks phil
  12. Just take out the 2 screws, engine side, to convince yourself but 100% it's a toad immobiliser phil
  13. Hi, is it Steve? What's sad, if you where changing a front indicator lamp you would have swamps giving advice, but when it's something outside their comfort zone and slightly more complex you get very little advice. I've come to the conclusion that there a few specialists on here in certain areas and quite a few chancers offering crap advice. The search function still isn't up to a satisfactory standard, though we can't mention that, even though it's our club. Now to the floor, removal of the old rivets laying on your back will take about a day, I would use an old wood chisel taking the top off the old rivets for the main areas of the floor and where it passes under the side skins I would drill these out. After the floor is removed go around and pop the remains of the old rivet into the chassis. Having never replaced a floor, are they pre drilled if so check drill hole positions against the old old ones to see if these correspond and adjust if necessary and either borrow or buy an electric or air riveter. I would imagine a second pair of hands would also be useful and if you google Cleco clips it's a method of holding panels in place before you rivet, these are used on aircraft panels before assembly, some area of the floor will have a sealing compound you will know where from the old panels Good luck but you should be able to do this. Regards phil
  14. Wanted new or nearly new nearside Driveshaft to suit a S3 Caterham 2004 R300 part No 79061 Caterham and Redline have no stock, it seems a shame to see a R300 sitting on axle stands with nice weather around thanks phil
  15. I'm certainly clutching at straws, i knew that, I think your mind works differently when your in a desperate situation, Caterham don't have any and neither do Redline, it's sad to see Caterham struggling. they certainly need a buyer sooner than later, the latest bid was £6 million I believe phil
  16. As seems normal now, Caterham are out of stock of leftside 79061 Driveshafts though they do seem have stock of rightside, what the wisdom on fitting a rightside driveshaft on the left side. Are Caterham unique in adopting a lefthand thread on the left side, I think most manufactures now use a righthanded threads throughout phil
  17. Roger you need to establish what size 5 pin socket outlet they are going to supply, there are 2 types generally used 16 amp and 32 amp, and then get a suitable plug to fit, I mentioned commando sockets they are MKs trade name for these sockets and plugs. Now if you require a single phase supply from your 5 pin plug connect your brown core to either L1 L2. L3 the blue to the neutral in the plug and the earth to the earth connection they will all be marked inside the plug you will then have 230v from a 5 pin socket Regards phil
  18. I'm trying to get my head around what you trrying to do, Silverstone will not be supplying a 3 phase and earth supply across a 4 pin red commando plug for the simple reason not many use just 3 phase, nearly all 3 phase installations have a neutral. So for simplification each phase L1, L2, L3 are on a different part of the sinewave so between any phase and earth or neutral you have 230v between any pair of phases you have 400v. Hope this helps
  19. Hello Dave I've had the same problem, I think the problem is with after market lights, my original 7 inch lights hollow bolts fit fine but my new SVC 5 3/4 lights the hollow bolts don't. Ive ground out the plastic coating to make the the bolts fit. I will also drill the tube below the indictor to accept and hide the cables Regards phil
  20. In the electrical trade we use silicon or a type of fiberglass sleeving, I've just found a company called Croylec that does sleeving rated 180c Regards phil
