  1. Removing the diff ... is it easy for me? I am afraid not ☹️ Pierre
  2. Piers, did you notice any change ? As far as I am concerned, moving from VHPD 4 2 1 to VHPD 4 1 + catalyst was painless: the torque does not seem to be lower and the motor goes even faster toward 7200 rpm Pierre
  3. Certainly Cagey. The engine was quite hot. When the display of the computer showed OK, I was relieved. In fact, the operator was amazed to see this big catalyst (2 years ago I had only the 4 2 1 collector) and told me: you must have spend much money on it ! I agreed. A big for Caterham Cars. They developed a very flexible exhaust system for the VHPD. And thanks again to Piers who showed me the way 😶‍🌫️ here Pierre Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 12 May 2007 10:30:17
  4. For the record: My 1.6 K EU2 with SS kit and VHPD catalysed exhaust system passed the Contrôle technique (the French MOT) this morning. Emissions level was OK. I did not have to move the lambda probe from header N°4 to inlet of the catalyst. Pierre
  5. Too bad: a value of -5.50 sphere cannot be achieved by the Wiley X prescription lenses. ☹️ Pierre
  6. Thanks Stationary M25. Your help is much appreciated. Davey the link is here Pierre
  7. I am a struggling to fill up a form of prescription lenses for Wiley X Air Rage bifocal goggles (I am trying to get a good protection and vision using an aeroscreen on my Caterham). My progressive lenses in France are: Right:-0150(+050)Axe 090 Add 275 Left:-0550(+100)Axe 090 Add 275 I am wondering if this French formula speaks to you. If it is so, could you help me please to fill up the bifocal form http://www.opticsplanet.net/wiley-x-airrage-rx-sunglasses.html Cheers, Pierre Edited by - pierre gillet on 7 May 2007 12:29:04
  8. My first impression is confirmed. The engine responds very well to the catalyst: the car is powerful and torque remains unchanged.
  9. I just received the catalyst (first class service by Darren really ) There is a plug for the lambda sensor drilled in the shell of the catalyst. Should I move the lambda sensor from the header N°4 where it is presently located, or can I leave it where it is (preferred case) ? If the lambda sensor had to me moved, could I make the wires longer by soldering ? And lastly, I find that the 1.6 KK SS makes its special noise of tuned engine at lower RPM (3500 rpm) with the 4 1 catalyst than with the 4 2 1 collector (4200 rpm). It also seems to have kept a reasonable torque at low rpm. Pierre Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 3 May 2007 20:17:46
  10. Thanks Piers for the photos. 😶‍🌫️ Very helpful I understand now: - the 4 headers remain unchanged. - the 4 2 1 VHPD collector is replaced by a 4 1 collector which feeds a catatlyst (so only two screws attaching the collector to the headers must be undone). - the silencer is attached to the collector/catalyst (Mikalor clamp). Seems very easy and I could keep my Raceco and save £ 250 +vat of silencer.
  11. Sounds good Piers . I figure that your '4 2 1 pipe' is what I called the '4 2 1 VHPD collector'. Correct ? YHM Cheers, Pierre
  12. The main issue is that I do not want to remove the 4 manifolds 4- 2- 1 Rover, for some reasons (water rail must be removed as the car is a LHD, gasket head to water rail, steering column, chassis bracket ). These 4 manifolds go, in my arrangement, into a 4 2 1 collector Rover VHPD. The collector goes into a silencer. I thought that the silencer could be replaced by a catalyst and a shorter silencer. This solution was, in a sense, implied by Darren as he quoted to me a catalyst and a silencer. I am a bit puzzled now ☹️ Any piccie of a 4 2 1 VHPD exhaust system with a catalyst ? Mine is here Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 25 Apr 2007 14:58:00
  13. I just had a quote from Darren for a catalyst (£468 +VAT) and a 6 " silencer (£250 + VAT) that would fit my 4 2 1 SLR collector. I would need them to pass the French MOT (Contrôle technique) and plan tu use my Raceco silencer in between the MOT interludes Given the high costs involved, I need a flexible solution, and in this respect, I hope that only I 2 Mikalor exhaust clamps would be needed. I hope that welding would not be necessary... Any experience ? Cheers, Pierre
  14. I am getting poised for my next French MOT and need to buy a catalyst and silencer that would fit my 4 2 1 SLR collector. See picture please (Err, sorry for the old man !) here
  15. Would an Emerald need the catalyst to pass the test ? Pierre
  16. I tried it for Richard on a 1.6 K SS. Quality is outstanding as all RIF products Easy to install with basically 8 pop rivets to add. Temperature is significantly lowered (warm, not hot. I could put my hand on it ) if you order the insulation sleeve. You must well describe your exhaust can (size, design) as the guard is custom made really and as such, is a tight fit). 17. @Pleasantville The problem is that with the aeroscreen the screen goes out I was planning to use the Car Mounting Kit suction sticker thingy on the carbon dash, passenger side, where I have a convenient empty space. It does stick well and is OK with only the driver in the car . But the Car Mounting Kit suction sticker is wide and the Rider would probably be a bit too close to a passenger. I figure that I would need an additional blue tooth if there is a passenger in the car and that both want to listen to the Rider directions. 18. I just ordered a TomTom Rider for my Cat which is aeroscreened. Still have to figure out how to install it... Pierre
  19. Thanks Richard 😶‍🌫️ Your feedback is very much appreciated. Is there any CSR 200 owner around please ? Pierre
  20. What's up guys ? Did someone tackle this vibration woe ? I am asking this question on behalf of the owners of the 1st and 3rd French CSR 200s. Cheers, Pierre
  21. I agree with you Mike, my LOW is really too low. It was really meant to light at least one LED . I wil change it for 4200 rpm like David. Pierre
  22. Humm, so I might revisit my Hi and set it @ 6800 rpm with the flash @ 7000 rpm. By the way, the max rev record feature works well now So a big for the DRE shift light and for Mike and his bulk buy . Cheers, Pierre
  23. In fact my mate is Serieone from the Autoroule forum. He asked me if the Blatchat could help . Can I ask him to contact you directly ? Cheers, Pierre
