  1. I just finished the installation of the DRE on my 1.6 K SS EU2. I set the first led @ 3500 rpm which is the max revs when the engine is cold (as a reminder I kept the 7000 rpm factory setting for the Hi. The all together led flashing is @ 7200 rpm (factory setting). The second is @ 4000 rpm, the third @ 5000 rpm and the fourth @ 6000 rpm. It works fine and the stalling system saved me twice this morning The only strange thing is when I looked at the max rev the engine took during the blat, by pressing the up button with ignition on, it said 1270 rpm here Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 18 Feb 2007 16:19:11
  2. A mate is looking for the EEC braking e11 approval spec. He knows for example that, prior to 1991, the spec was the e11 71/320 . Then the e11 91/422 was valid. Any idea about the specs that replace it? By the way, he is also interested in the specs related to noise, emissions, belts etc.... Cheers, Pierre
  3. Cagey, it is not so clear to me too Pierre
  4. Many thanks Nick and 7heavensoon. Humm, F355 sounds right Cheers, Pierre
  5. Nick, could you tell me where you bought them please ? here Cheers, Edited by - pierre gillet on 15 Feb 2007 11:53:04
  6. I am curious to know how you would you set the lights for a 1.6 K SS ? Pierre
  7. Tony, you are correct. When you referred to your locking togggle switch, I understood guarded switch because I did not even know that locking toggle exist. Sorry for that 😳 I am more interested in locking toggle switch rather than guard switch for the reason given above. So, back to locking toggle switch. I would like it red to match my starter push button (some space is available on the right ) and would like it reasonably waterproof and a direct replacement to the CC standard ignition key switch I would assume that the Demon Tweeks one is indeed a locking toggle given the shape of the little red lever which seems designed to provide grip to pull it. What do you think Tony ? here Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 8 Feb 2007 14:27:04
  8. Tony, when ignition is on, am I correct to think that the red cap is up and easy to be flipped down What would happen if the driver or the passenger inadvertently turned down the ignition ? The engine would probably still run but would this incident damage the electrickery? Can you confirm that the standard CC key switch triggers a relay at ignition ? Cheers, Pierre
  9. Thanks a lot. I have a few more questions Gents. From the spec given by Aerco it seems to me that it is fully waterproof but is not a high-Amper switch and therefore could not be used as ignition switch on a 12 V circuit It is not clear to me whether Aerco sell direct What would happen if during a ride the ignition switch was turned down ? @ Nick, whom did you get the side repeaters on the head lamps of your Seven from ? Cheers, Pierre Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 8 Feb 2007 09:13:15
  10. I find this toggle switch to be very attractive (because it is red !), and contemplate using it by the side of the red starter button, for ignition purpose. I would prefer it to the red aircraft safety switch because I am concerned this could be shut down inadvertently. Two questions though: 1) would it meet the spec (Amper rating) ? 2) Is it reasonably waterproof (I am running an aeroscreen) ? here Pierre
  11. I have noticed that if the shiftlight was nested as deep as possible into the RIF aeroscreen (low version), it would : 1) be very visible, and 2) not impede fitment of the tonneau cover. One problem though, it would probably be necessary to move it forward to trigger the two buttons and read the display. Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 6 Feb 2007 16:06:03
  12. Gareth, my mate is hoping to get some info from you . Many thanks. Cheers, Pierre Edited by - Pierre Gillet on 24 Dec 2006 19:06:07

    Springs

A mate is looking for 2 rear suspension springs for Caterham Super 7 Sprint (oct 1990) De Dion Free height : 14" ID 1.9 " rate 150/170 lbs
  14. A mate is on the market for a spark plug cover for his 1.6 K EU2 engine with "Caterham Supersport" engraved. Please contact him at flatinfrenchriviera@hotmail.fr " Cheers, Pierre Edited by - pierre gillet on 11 Dec 2006 08:59:14
  15. Hi Elie Could you elaborate please ? I would be interested to know the film type, brand, striping process etc. Cheers, Pierre
  16. Thank you guys . Can the German contingent also contribute ? Cheers, Pierre
  17. Alex, it seems, according to my mate, that it is a kind of adhesive material, not a paint. I first thought of a 3 M protective film (sucha as the one used by Armourfend) that would be black but it is unlikely that it would be able to be shaped so aggressively Pierre
  18. The nose of my mate's R300 has been painted using some plastic material by the German Caterham importer. It is very well done. Can somebody explain the technique used ? here Pierre
  19. A mate informed me today that CC is still selling lower headlights brackets @ 20 £ + vat /piece Can somebody confirm ? Pierre
  20. Humm, @ 332 € a pair by Kumschick it is worth trying to DIY 😳
  21. Paul, but mines do not have a triangulated strengthening stay, they are just a tube ... To bend steel tubes I would necessarily need a special hydraulic tool ? Pierre
  22. I figure that the same brackets built in steel instead of ali would be stronger
  23. Sadly, I am not a welder... I like very much the MOG design as it keeps the Caterham style (headlights not too low) and the indicators. How do the Kumschick headlights look ? Pierre
  24. I am contemplating a set of alloy headlamp brackets lower than the original, as proposed by Fluke/Mog here These seem to have been developed for their 5.75" carbon headlamps which are probably very light. Would they be OK for 5.75 ", non-carbon, headlights ? Pierre
  25. The RIF aeroscreen mirrors are Pierre
