    S20 SVN

I thought S20 SVN was john chase's new Superlight Twenty, there can't be two S20 SVN surely?
  3. I fitted them to much previous r500 Alan, with the idea being to increase the quality of beam due to the better optics of the Cibie units. They do fit into the Caterham headlight surround, but it takes some working around, as the outer rim of the glass edge of the Cibie unit is not a good fit to the metal frame. i have them to fit on my new Superlight twenty, but not got around to fitting them yet.
  4. Your welcome, there might be some useful stuff there after all then!, Of course I have done it a few times before, so you would think it should be easy by now, end yet I still made some of the most basic mistakes again! The wait for you kit to arrive will drive you to distraction by the way!
  5. It came as standard on my Superlight Twenty ( a 270r with extras essentially !) fitted with a windscreen and the interchangeable carbon aero. Not sure if it's the same on an SV model, but I would have thought it was standard. My blog is here, should help you with some tips for your build, http://superlighttwenty.blogspot.co.uk
  6. I'm not so sure that it's not popular to build them your self actually! out of the Superlight Twenty owners group, we have at least 10 members of the group that have built their cars. we don't know all of the Twenty owners, as some of them have been sold via Williams And Oakmere dealerships, but we are pretty confident that those were all factory builds too. But to echo the sentiment, it's a fantastic experience, which becomes more of an obsession , as this is my fifth Caterham build. enjoy the fun!
  7. It's surprising how many people have been in similar situation, when you all start with honest confessions after a few beers! to the point of the readers wives section in certain gents magazines, let's just say I recognised a certain family member, featured in one of those sections! I think I will be happy to stick with just my car being featured!
  8. Hi GJT, what did you mean re the response? i did comment on the ph readers wives thread! its driven a lot of traffic to my blog though., we had 4000 views in two days, compared to 3000 views in a normal month!
  9. Oh well, it was worth a try Nick! i will go back to staying anonymous as before!
  10. well it's about the closest I have ever come to actually being spotted! http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-britishcars/caterham-superlight-20-readers-car-of-the-week/34366
  11. Build looks like it's going great Marcus! And just to confirm, you can fit the heater output vents in the wrong way around,,because I also managed to do that too! Only realised my mistake when it went to BookaTrack for the post build and IVA,,and they said it was on the wrong way. I think it's not a big issue, it still works ok, and as you say actually looks more right the wrong way around! I believe the reason it goes in the other way,,is the smaller channels allow for some of the air flow to be directed down into each tunnel, hence keeping those areas by your feet, a bit warmer or cooler if you have it set to fresh air!
  12. Hi Guys, just another word of thanks for this information, it helped me sort out the intermittent speedo on my new Superlight Twenty. i did check the gap in the sensor when I built the car, but for some reason the speedo just stopped working at about 70mph. Checked it again yesterday, and made sure the gap was as close to 1mm as I could get, and also made sure we had trigger on the led on the sensor for a full rotation of the drive shaft. quick test drive and I am pleased to report that it works fine at all speeds now. thanks again for the information. oh and such a nice sunny evening as we had last night,,we even went out for a spin to our local classic car meet, where as you can see my little Superlight had some Interetsing company!
  13. As i now have my car on the road, and busily enjoying putting miles on it, I thought I should update my experience, so other 270 owners might benefit. My car went to Bookatrack at Donington for its post build check etc. Whilst there I got BaT to check the clearance on my number two primary, and mine was tight just as Phils. BaT checked with CC, and it was decided they had a faulty batch of primaries,,and replaced mine with a new primary pipe from the new batch. So this was the issue,,and very quickly sorted out by CC and the guys at BaT too.
  14. A better picture now we have gone full aero!
  15. Fantastic Craig! Let me know when you are coming down to Brunters, we go there quite regularly so we could easily meet up. Enjoy your car, I'm already loving mine, and gone full aeroscreen now too!!
  16. Its looking very good Rich, your making great progress. With you at the start of your build, this is what you have to look forwards too, i collected mine from BookaTrack this week.
  17. I Thought i should add the photos of my collection day to this thread also.
  18. Heres some photos of my collection day from BookaTrack Caterham.
  19. Wow she looks fantastic Craig, enjoy!! Collected mine this week too!
  20. Great, I hope my blog and others gives you some good pointers. I too tried to Create a blog on here in the blog section, and you can see some of my build there. However as I use my iPad for most of my pictures, both for organising, editing and posting to various forums, I found that the photo management capabilities of blatchat very difficult to navigate easily when using my iPad. As a result I have posted some pictures there,,but most of the major threads within lots of attached pictures are on my blog, where it was easier to post multiple pictures. Enjoy your build!, And don't forget there are no daft questions, so ask away!
  21. Hi Rich, As Paul mentions I have just completed my Superlight Twenty build, which as you know is essentially a 270 with some " upgrades ". There are plenty of posts and pictures on the threads here. The majority of updates are on my build blog here: http://superlighttwenty.blogspot.co.uk/ Happy to answer any questions you may have during your build.
  22. Cool great Mike! Glad you have found a knob to twiddle with! Have fun!
  23. It should be pretty obvious Mike, here's a picture of mine. Mine was one of the first R500's , a 2009 car. I seem to recall someone mentioning that the design might have changed on later versions, and the owners manual mentions using one of the black rubberised switches either side of the stack display. Sorry but I can't recall which button was which.
  24. Here's the round display which was mounted along side the other dash switches. You can also see the rotary controller, but no knob as I had not fitted this at that point in the build.
  25. No probs Mike. on my white R500, the digital display was a blue LCD type digit display the same size and location as the dash buttons. The Control of the setting, from one to nine, was achieved by using a rotary selector knob, which was on the tunnel top, ahead of the key fob/trinket tray. once you had selected the exact amour of slip number, you pressed the button, and the number in the display flashed until you dropped the clutch and launched. hope that makes some sense?
