  1. My set is now sold leaving Peter's set.
  2. Thanks for that, will do a bit of DIY stuff in advance. Any photos of the seal issue to give me a clue please.
  3. Hi, due to a few irreperable stone chips in the windscreen, I'm having it replaced under the insurance. Are there any fasteners on the top of the scuttle to the screen or just the three screws on each side A frame? Any other tips for the man from Auto Windscreens? PS they were supposed to arrive today, the screen hadn't arrived with Auto Windscreens, Caterham couldn't find out whether they had one in stock due to computers being down! I'm just waiting for it to turn up and it be for an S3 instead of an SV or be alloy instead of black! "always look on the bright side...of life..de do de dah..etc. etc."
  4. I got it at 10,000 miles, done 33,000 now after three years. Not sure of the running process therefore. The consumption has remained fairly static I think. On start up it seems blow out quite a lot of soot/condensation initially which clears up instantly. End of the exhaust is always black and sooty. On the bubbling up on the side panel, still waiting for Oakmere to come up with a price for a full replacement rather than a temporary repair.
  5. Hi, does 1/2 litre over 1,000 miles sound right in peoples experience? 30,000 on car, never been raced, rallied or revved. Not tracked anyway.
  6. That's me paid up. Thanks for organising.
  7. Have sent photos to Arch and will give them a ring on Monday. I'll revert back with the answers they give.
  8. ....ohhh dear.....no magic solution then!
  9. A few photos from the other day:- http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/nigel_simpson/Caterham%20pain%20bubbles/IMG_2247_zpsu5olewvy.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/nigel_simpson/Caterham%20pain%20bubbles/IMG_2249_zpsfwwgxnkm.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/nigel_simpson/Caterham%20pain%20bubbles/IMG_2251_zpshu7igvtv.jpg http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm141/nigel_simpson/Caterham%20pain%20bubbles/IMG_2252_zps2cvojwfq.jpg
  10. Will do at the weekend when back home. Thanks.
  11. On the passenger side side panel i.e. the the side without the exhaust, the paint is starting to bubble quite badly where the panel changes from straight to narrowing towards the nose. What are the best tips for getting this fixed? Do you have to take the inside footwell panel off to get at corrosion from the inside? has anyone got any photos from the inside with this panel off? The car is 7 years old and other than this place, looks pretty smart. Anyone had this done and got some idea of cost?
  12. Big fan of POR15, it must be good given the length the "don't.....a)........b)......c)......" list. Just finished doing all the chassis tubes under the engine where the stone chips remove the powder coating. The stuff is pretty bullet proof and particularly good at protecting the front suspension which is the most exposed area to stones.
  13. Bleed nipple found to be M6. Propshaft manufacturer for Caterham is Bailey Morris:- www.baileymorris.co.uk They said that the have used all sorts of sizes over the years so sent me M6 and 1/4" UNF to try. Very helpful. Also very helpful for providing a wide range of sizes was The Nipple Shop:- http://www.thenippleshop.co.uk
  14. Hi, I have a 2009 150 Sigma SV. The front propshaft UJ nipple has snapped off. I got a nipple from Caterham (steady on now!) but it is the wrong thread form. Caterham said that over time the nipple thread form has changed at random before eventually changing onto sealed bearings. Does anyone know what the different thread forms and sizes are for these nipples and where to get them from please?
  15. Some feedback:- - the baby oil and water worked a treat, I smell much fresher now! - the baby shampoo and water did allow the sheet to be moved into place pretty well and correct initial fit up mistakes. Bought a spray bottle for £1 from local DIY shop. - with the kit I bought I got a scraper and bought a couple of other ones on line. Good job I did because the one which came which the kit was a bit too hard and didn't flex around the curves I was trying to match up with. - fitted a couple of small sheets to my old tool chest just to get the hang of it - make sure the surface are completely free of any dust or grit as it gets trapped underneath easily - don't put the roll of armounfend down on anything which isn't clean, it picks up crap on any exposed edge. This stops it sticking at that edge. I now know! - If you cut a length off a roll, you may end up with a sticky bit exposed, again this picks up dirt so cut this off just before fitting so it is definitley virgin material you are trying to stick on. - don't attempt compound curves - I ended up putting a couple of small sections on the nose cone rather than trying to force a bigger sheet around. - Assuming it hasn't fallen off over night, it seems to have been a reasonable job. Easy to cock up without a bit of patience I would say. - have some bonnet protecting patches which I have had for a while but never fitted. Will now fit these having got the practice in.
  16. Thanks for all the tips, will give it a whirl early meet week.
  17. Hi, I just got my nose cone repainted and armourfended. I later found out that the armourfend "kit" doesn't include any bits which go down the side of the nose cone where it gets slightly wider next to the side panels. I've bought some film off the internet, any tips on fitting it?
  18. Bits fitted, 700 miles done, water level now remains fine. Small leak somewhere. The banjo fittings I got looked a bit cheap and nasty, initially couldn't get the copper washers to seal so changed to Dowty washers (different thickness). Have now bought some better quality banjos which look more like an engineering component + some fibre washers of the right size. Will change over when I have five minutes.
  19. Thanks for jogging my memory, I did buy the bits but didn't fit them, I discovered them in a drawer in the garage. I then realised I didn't have the right size jubilee clips so that is why I must have stalled. Will be bought and fitted tomorrow!
  20. Jonathan, when I take the cap off the tank with the tank bolted to its normal position, the water in the heater hose runs back down into the tank as the heater hose is heigher than the fill level. This then introduces more air........unless I'm missing something.
  21. I'd assumed there was an airlock in the engine somewhere due to the coolant level rising in the expansion tank. A bleed tee is fitted in the top hose of the radiator, near the radiator. I unbolted the expansion tank and lifted it above the bleed tee and the radiator. On removing the plug from the top of the radiator found there was a lot of air at the top. Plug put back in when water rose to top. Removed bleed tee cap, no air in that bit, only coolant came out. Filled expansion tank to correct level, put cap back on, then lowered the tank down and bolted it back on. The expansion tank cap is brand new. After a couple of runs, tank level has gone up 25mm and doesn't seem to have gone back down even when the engine has cooled. Is there still an airlock somewhere, is it sucking in air somehow, other? What else to check?
  22. hi, who has bought a nice bracket and from where for hanging headsets on? I've seen a few on the web but they all seem to be in the US.
  23. Over the road from my daughters house outside a model shop. car looked extremely smart by the photo. ......couldn't quite see it from Aberdeen however!
