  2. I Use PTR5A-10 on a TB 200bhp raceline spec silvertop 2.0: Perfect 🥰 A friend have a lot of problems with his brand new 230bhp high spec 2.0 Silvertop on TB: It start on PTR5A (not easily) from cold but do not rev after few minutes static. Do you think a 6 grade should be better ? platinium? iridium ? NGK? or other ? Any advice warmly welcome ! 😶‍🌫️
  3. Hi Simon, Are they drilled for indicators? Regards Nicolas
  4. I'm after one of these. Do you have one ?
  5. Elie, I probably have an AP double discs cintered clutch left from my Marcos if it could be of interest for you...to snappy for it's wooden chassis and ONLY for race use. Is it for your G4?
  6. Quoting Pendennis: Has the idle pressure dropped recently, was it higher previously or are you just concerned? Does the pump have a regulator valve on it? Maybe a service on it is due! What size pipe work serves it? Edited by - Pendennis on 9 Mar 2011 15:33:37 Thanks for your answer. - Idle presure is the same since I bought the car 2 years ago (It is a 4 years old conversion) - Pipework are (big) Dash 12 - I not familiar with DS pump: What is a regulator valve ? It have an adjusting screw in a nylock but I think it is for ajusting flow but not oil pressure
  7. On 2.0 Duratec dry sumped 260bhp spec. Oil 10W60 Castrol Edge Sport PACE DS Engine just refresh but had similar symptoms before refresh Static at idle (1200rpm): Cold: Oil Presure 60lb / Oil 10° / Water 10° After 5mn: Oil Pressure 40lb / Oil 40° / Water 70° After 10mn: Oil Pressure 30lb / Oil 60° / Water 75° New values: With 65° oil (Can't get hoter in static) 3K: 52/55lb 4K: 60lb 5K: 65lb 6K: 70lb And come back to idle at 22/25 Oil pressure value seem quite low to me and I do not understand why (engine checked) oil quite thick I would need advice from Duratec owners about value and what could make it low? - Oil choice ? - Gauge? (SPA digital not the poor caterham one connected on a T on oil filter holder is this could this be an issue ?) - Pump ? Thanks for your help ! 😶‍🌫️ Nicolas Edited by - marcos59 on 9 Mar 2011 08:59:57 Edited by - marcos59 on 9 Mar 2011 09:00:57 Edited by - marcos59 on 9 Mar 2011 09:01:21
  8. Quoting Paul McKenzie: ACB10's + MB's = you won't get lower unsprung weight Paul From a technical point of view you're right Paul...but wife is not agree as ACB10 are 50% more expensive than V70/ZZR
  9. Quoting Martin B: I have 215 Kumhos front and 235 rears which works well But I am still uncertain whether this is the way to go, they are quite heavy tyres and you end up with a high unsprung weight which just seems wrong I am contemplating buying some lightweight rims and CR500s or ZZRs instead Martin Interesting..so perhaps a lightweight alternative solution is 215 ZZR front and rear as they fit both 7,5 and 8,5 rims As have seen 205 R888 on 8,5 on a friend car and they look not right. Choice will be V70 or ZZR Just need to find the better supplier now
  10. Quoting Paul McKenzie: Marcos, The wheels are actually 6.5/8.5 if they're standard R500 MB's. You're right Paul I have non standard 7,5 front (2,5 outer + 5 inner) As: -215 R888 are not available -185 ZZR are too small for 7,5 front and 215 ZZR are to wide for them Choice reduced too: -205 R888 or A048R all round (As they fit 8,5 rear they will fit 7,5 front) -215 front and 235 rear Khumo V70 ? Advices still very welcome (or alternative tyre manufacturer/size) Thanks 😶‍🌫️ Edited by - marcos59 on 23 Feb 2011 14:16:35
  11. They are wider than wings...my MOT station will not appreciate 😬
  12. I'm lost ☹️..... Wheels are std R500 MB Should I choose: 205front and 215 rear R888 ? but they are 205/60 front and 215/45 rear: is that not a problem ? 205 A048 all round but too small for rear isn't it ? 215 ZZR but too wide for front isn't it ? 215 front and 235 rear Khumo V70 ? It's not really tyre performance question but more a best fitting one as I had bad experience in past: tyres knocking rear ARB and cycle wing bracket... What is you choice and feedback ? Thanks for your help !
  13. Thanks for your answer Richard, So V70's are not the best choice for trackday only ?
  14. What tyres are used/allowed in class 5 ? If most class 5 cars are using 7.5" fronts and 8.5" rears with 215 tyres on the front and 235 tyres on the rear they are not: - Toyo 888 as they only made 205/60/13 or 215/45/13 - Yoko A048 as they only made 205/60/13 Are they Kumho V70 215/50/13 and 235/45/13 ? I have no knowledge about Kumho tyres. Are they similar in preformance with toyo 888 or Yoko A048 ?
  15. Anything considered
  16. They are MOG ones. Pics here My car is supawide so it could look a bit different on your car. Note they are alloy: Mog recommend 5 3/4 lightweight carbon headlamp to avoid breaking..I use them with standard 5 3/4 and it's fine. However I think it will be risky with 7' ones and perhaps do not allow easily nose cone removal too.
  17. That's interresting Dave, Do you have better pics of your back plate ? In fact I'm also interrested to have a look on your engine bay too 😬 I'm surprised you use a thin front ARB but it's another subject...
  18. I'm agree: offsetting backplate hole is a solution but limited by chassis and also it will reduce trumpets clearance too. Actually on my car backplate is up side down so clips are not a problem. But as c400 airbox is asymetrical you can't do the same. I'm sure clips will need to be cut but i'm not too worry to find another upper fitting solution. Only problem i see is 604d is rated for 290bhp and 603d for 230bhp (mine is 260). Shallower reverie backplate will give extra air volume so i think it will be quite the same only air surface will be a bit reduced. How many bhp are c400 racers ?
  19. Jason, I have check on my car: 90mm trumpets 125mm height 604D domed filter = 35mm clearance (19mm minimun required) = Perfect but do not pass noise tests and can't be used with C400 airbox as designed for 603D 90mm height air filter. I think solution is: 90mm 603D + 30mm reverie backplate = 120mm - 90mm trumpets = 30mm clearance AND allow fitment of C400 airbox to reduce noise But I'm quite worry about bonnet... My alloy backplate is already fitted up side down as filter clips catch bonnet if not. With reverie back plate clips will be 30mm more on the lower side of bonnet. I can send picture of my actual installation if needed.
  20. Jason, MANY thanks for Reverie link , it was prepared to place an order for a C400 back plate knowing it will need a lot modification Jenvey holes / Deep etc...but this one look far better (and half price!) I have at the moment an alloy back plate and quite long trumpets (proably 90mm. I will check wednesday) I want to fit a C400 airbox to reduce TB noise as Duratec noise is a problem in most of tracks now and I'm sure inlet noise is worst than exhaust one (at least on my car) and need to find the good package ( back plate/filter/airbox) I'm also quite worry about how much a C400 airbox will reduce air flow...
  21. Many thanks for your answer Jason, I think mine is the same with same trumpets clearance problem. Also pipercross say 19mm clearance is needed between trumpets and filter. Perhaps using the backplate will solve problem. However car is not at home. I will double check and come back to you.
  22. Chrome one prefered but black ones considered
