  1. Between, 430kg and 450kg depending screen or brooklands and with/without doors and tonneau. Are 180/Front and 130/Rear realistic ?
  2. Thanks for your answer Jonathan. I will go for cheap for protech shocks...difficult to ask advice to Meteor motorsport I'm affraid 1293cc Midget engine (Originaly 1098cc A serie but upgrade was too tempting)
  3. I'm currently rebuilding an early S2 with BMC engine. I need to give spring rates to shocks suppliers (mainly road use) and have no idea of values. What are you advice ? I found values for Xflow / Rover engined car but not for lighter car as this S2 will be. Perhaps Fireblade cars could be good for comparaison too as they are L.A too ? Thanks for you help ! Regards Nicolas
  4. Andy, Exactly what I think too. Often when you have carbs coughing when engine is cold first (bad) reflex is to (over) tight rubber washer
  5. Problem was coil. Get wrong (was very hot) after 30mn running...10mn cool down (searching origin) then start again and run perfectly for only 10mn then stops (coil is already hot when engine start again)...finaly only run 3mn after each 10mn cool down. Spark can't be seen just after engine stops (and plugs where dry)..10 minutes later spark was back (but only for few minutes). When it start to run on a only 10mn cooling / 3mn runing basis I was 10kms from house...way back have been very very long :-) As it is a new car I only use it to vist (show it ) to friend around and just make few kilometers have a drink (coil cool down) then go back at home..no problem until now ! Fuel leaking is another problem: I removed carbs and only found 2 seized choke on one carb but it do not explain at all this leak. I will change O rings but they look OK at first quick look. To be continued...
  6. Thanks for all comments I will investigate further this WE If it can help: Problem occur after 30mn from cold but after first stop it occur far more fastly. Yes coil and amplifier are a bit hot but not too much (look normal to me) To Roger: - Fuel leak is not a "normal" caramel residual unburned fuel. It is fresh clear fuel dropping +-1 drop every 5 secondes after car stop during few minutes before it start again. Is a car rolling few hundred meters without ignition could over fill carbs and create a leak ? - Lucas ignition look like that: Is it the bad one ? To SM25T: A quick look (need to double check) do not show any vent on this old 80's steel tank..but it have a beautiful 00's mocal fuel filler(and far more airtight than 80's ones) ..so need to investigate your idea further. To Elie: Thanks for your offer about spare parts. I will investigate everything else before and come back to you
  7. Thanks for your comments. Definitively not water..I'm happy it is a Xflow and not pre Xflow (It have burnt !)
  8. Sorry for poor english but you should mostly understand and I hope be able to help. On Xflow twin Weber Lucas Electronic ignition: Each time after 30mn blatting engine start to misfire with pop and bags from exhaust then cut off few hundred meters later. Engine can't be started again before 10mn and fresh fuel can be seen leaking/dripping between carbs and inlet manifold It seem engine have too much fuel or do not burn it anymore What have been done (without any success) - Fuel pressure tested (was a bit high) - Needle valve exchange - Float chamber level (One was fairly out) Question is: Is it a carb or ignition problem ? - If ignition problem: How fresh fuel can leak between carbs and manifold ? Without ignition unburned fuel should go through exhaust only isn't it ? - If Carbs problem why always after 30mn ? and why some bangs like and ignition problem? Help very welcome..very annoying problem. I can't use my car only by 30mn run !
  9. Work very very well Look like it have been designed for the 7 (and fold in 2 to be put in boot) I use one in S3 with harness and it's just perfect
  10. Thanks for links Shaun. Will read regulations during christmas holidays FFSA (French MSA) have a leisure licence but I'm a bit worry leisure and international will not got well together Annexe K is international so it's the same here no poblem. Two questions: - What is BMMC ? - Is Curboroug round a "only caterham" event ? (For me see other various "british specials cars" is aslo part of experience) Thanks !
  11. Thanks Malcolm it's much appreciated
  12. To be sure to understand: - An ex classic graduates Xflow on A048 or similar tyres is class 1 - A K serie superlight modified with Duratec with TB and supawide suspension on A048 tyres or similar is class 5 Same cars without (MOT, Insurance, Tax) are class 7 ? Just to be sure cars are allowed.
  13. Hi Ian Thanks for list: Gurston down is tempting seen from here. - 2 day event - Monday is bank holiday in France (is it is UK ?) - Look like typical british racing: Cars from 30's to today, bike, side cars exactly what we will expect - 3h from Dover...Lydden hill have been better but still acceptable. I need tor read closely regulations and find info about MSA license..and tell to friends !
  14. Me and some Belgian friends members could be interested on some club speed events. We have few questions (expect a lot of spelling mistakes and strange questions !) - MSA license: Could we get one as we are oversea (perhaps need to use a friend adress in UK ?)...We do not have so inexpensive none race license (at least in France) - What could be best 2015 round for us (Think we come from Dover and 2 days event will maximise travel cost)..I dream about Anglesey but I need to be more realistic. Unfortunatly it seem there is no southern tracks. Thanks
  15. For my serie2 rebuild I would like to source some alloy repro wobbly web wheels (I'm affraid budget is too limitied for magnesium ones) Is anyone here could point me a supplier (or a set of SH alloy or magnesium ones ) Thanks !
  16. Caterham modified or standard Complete or not I'm not too difficult
  17. PM me for pics I'm in trouble to post pics here tonight
  18. I start from a bare old chassis So i need everything else !!! And for exemple: Pre Xflow Rear axle parts : triumph standard 10 Triumph 3.5 steel wheels Flared wings + wing stay Top link / triumph upright Steering column S2 rear wings Any period parts: smith tacho / motolita or derrington style steering wheels
  19. I start a s2 rebuild Im currently at 'deskin' step at saw it already had a reskin in the past so mostly all tubes have 2 lines of holes A third one will be to much in my opinion and it is almost impossible,to reuse some existing holes (arch do not do) Do i need to (brass?) weld holes everywhere i can before Reskin ? Any advice welcome
  20. Hi I done it on my race car (with sv dedion on s3 narrow chassis on rear) Work very well on track and look superb. Will try to post some pics.
  21. Hi Elie, interested about your contact in Kent as sold AC and old Smith speedo are produced anymore. Thanks
  22. Thanks for your answers. What about http://www.xtraspecialsevens.co.uk ? or Andy wiltshire ? Any feedback about them ? I will also need generalist supplier like: "vintage" electrical supplier: AES ? Crossply tyre: No idea Smith or AC gauge specialist: No idea..Any suggestion ?
  23. I will start a S2 rebuild from a bare chassis I need almost everything else..first search show most parts are specific so caterham cars will not be the best place to source parts. I'm interested about all links and/or feedback you could send me about Lotus seven S1/2/3 specialists who could provide parts (like gauge/rear axle/fiberglass parts etc..) Thanks ! Nicolas
