  1. At Cadwell recently for the Lotus Seven Club day, my 1.6SS standard zorst with cat was 99dB @ 4250rpm . 10000 miles old. Try and keep to 4000rpm if u can on test.
  2. Gareth, I find passengers make for a very stable car when on the grass *redface* *nono*Thanks for leaving all my kit by the way. Cheers
  3. Just a reminder to those going to Cadwell and have track day insurance included with Caterham Insurance as part of their policy that you have to notify them about the track day before you go. I nearly forgot As it's most liable we will get some rain I thought I'd mention it.
  4. Steve, yep I'll give rides if you like , that'll be no probs. Just put news pads on all round so i'll even be able to stop. I'm in a Full caged Gulf coloured 1.6k. Just come and grab me!! I'm in the middle session.
  5. Forgot to say it was on Tuesday!!
  6. Mature gentleman, well he was abit grey, in a red seven on the above road/s, can't remember where i was at the time, somewhere betwixt Banbury and Birmingham northbound, 330pm-430pm ish
  7. Lowlander, I can only speak for myself , having built a Westfield but bought my Caterham fully built. I would say that they are quite easy mechanically and you could do it no problem especially with all the help on here. The real factor is:- can you be arsed with the long nights in the garage with the missus grumbling about tools in the house, oily trousers, missing bolts etc etc. If you can,go for it, it is certainly rewarding . If you are the easily bored type ( a la Clarkson) you may become frustrated at the time it all takes to do relatively straight forward looking jobs. Cheers Neil
  8. The lads at Caterham Midlands have advised me last week to go M1144's at front and standard at back for a good general , occasional track day set up because of the aggressiveness of the rears. Have no experiance of Pagids
  9. Had to pop down t'smoke early doors and from M1 south bound I saw 1. Yellow Caterham Luton ish. Couldn't get reg 2. Black Academy/grad on trailer 3. Black and Gold academy on trailer 4.Aerial Atom 5. The world's supply of Elises Time 730 ish.
  10. That's what I thought!! I drove my Gulf Caterham from Loughborough 6.30am start down M1 to M25 to M40 to Uxbridge and then later back via M40 , Silverstone , A5 to M1 to Loughborough......and ....not one other severner to wave to. Miserable buggers the lot of you 😬 Saw a few on trailers going northbound on M1 early doors though.

    Half Hood

These look fab, does Jill do a halfhood that goes over a full Roadsport B cage from 2002 do you think?
  12. I think this was me in a Gulf coloured Roadsport at 1.40 Mkt Harborough on the Husbands Bosworth road out of Harborough. The petrol station on the right after turning off the high street. On the way to meet Combine and Andy O etc for our blat in the sun . Sorry you couldn't join us.Neil
  13. Try QED nr Loughborough or Power Train Products who did my verniers on my 1.6k conversion. They aren't far away. They know all about k series .
  14. Had by now been on the a14 for an hour and can't remember if i spotted you on the a14 or m11. I was on way to stansted. Spotted 3 sevens by the time i got back.
  15. Spotted going westbound, I was going other way to Stansted on Sunday morning 9 ish.
  16. Helmet on, being held up by plodders by the look of it. 😬
  17. Roll on spring! We had a good turnout a couple of months ago with about 15-20 cars on a blat to Empingham. How are you getting on with the old girl..good as you'd hoped?
  18. Hey combine, did u go to Hathern last week? Had my son's nativity play to go to so couldn't attend and say hello. Did u go in the HPC , bit wet i remember.
  19. Rich, like you I've got a 1.6k five speed roadsport 135 bhp ( ptp upgrade ) which i've had for six months and have done three track days and about 4000 miles on the road. It's an ex racer with full cage and a few nice bits and bobs. However it has not got wide track, 6 speed, 4 pots , lsd etc. I've come to the conclusion that I'm gonna keep it as it is and then upgrade the whole car cos that little lot comes to about £ 5000-6000 which I'm never going to see again and certainly not in resale. I'm better off I think in selling the car in the future and going the superlight route and getting all those nice bits, especially 6 speed and lsd. Other people may share my thoughts, others have upgraditis in a serious way! For what it's worth if i had the choice I would go for an lsd as the next essential item as you can then slide it with gay abandon on wet trackdays.
  20. Tight fit!....Tight fit! .unless it's 33 degrees cent...at least, which it isn't when it's raining in blighty..my hood needs the finger strength of a farrier to do up. I can then use it as a Kettle Drum . I had a demo at Cat Mid when I bought the car...in the summer ie hot and haven't used it since...nor likely to.... tonneau and a hat I think. Had to use a hair dryer at the w/e to get my boot cover on after it had shrunk in the rain. Booger.
  21. Paul, I've got an ex academy car with full cage which i use regularly on the road although not on a daily basis and I would suggest the following:- keep the full cage..you'll feel alot more secure next to artics on the motorway or if some yummy mummy on the phone during the school run in her xc90 ploughs into the side of you. It's a palava but so is traction!!!Plus you'll feel safer if you wanna do track days. People do point abit but usually with a smile and not a wave of the wrist. I've had no probs with 13 inch and CR500's except for those plastic speed bumps. Tillets comfortable so far although cold as buggery in winter.....now if they were heated it'd be great. What else....oh yes enjoy
  22. I think i was charged £ 81.00 plus VAT the other day at Cat Mid.Best price I could get.
  23. Yep, probably guilty as charged and it was a case of turning in real slow..and waiting....and waiting ....and waiting to put the power down ....so slow in fact that I think I was overtaken by a Seat Cupra 😳 at one point. However it will be interesting to note some comments on softening the front up.
  24. Now chaps, after extolling the virtues of CR500s the other day on the road..I need some advice. Went to the Bedford Autodrome *thumbup*yesterday for a trackday and it was standing water wet in morning and pouring with rain. I had massive understeer everywhere ☹️, as did everybody. but I feel I need some advice on a wet set up. I've got an ex academy car with red roll bars front and rear, adjustable platforms, and standard track with 175/55-13 cr500 both ends. Whats the story with the roll bars .presumably I've got to make the front end less stiff ( missus!) or do I stiffen up the rear. What colours are stiffer and how easy are they to change. Later on when the track dried it was less of a problem and I had some grip. I was running 18 psi on both ends and oh yeah I haven't a slippy diff either. Ta in anticipation
  25. I only thought about mentioning the cr500's today because my car came on them in June already part worn. Since then I have done 2500 miles on them and two trackdays .The rears were shot so I pondered changing to Yoho 48 as they are a fair bit cheaper. Really glad I didn't as I probably would have found it abit tricky today in all the standing water on Exmoor and M5. Had no aquaplaning and the car felt solid and not on tippy toes like I thought.
