I have a SLR. I am planning some head work. I want to use a DVA prepared VVC head, but what cams would suit the engine. There is a ported VVC unit for sale on Blatchat that may suit me, but know little about cam choice. The forsale item has 1227 piper cams. What are these specifically used for ? High revs ? I have an R500 titanium silencer and have had to repack it several times. This was due to my own learning curve. Now I wrap the inner pipe with stainless wool. Just one layer nice and tight. Then wrap with fibre. As much as I can get in the can. I was 105db at 4KRPM before and was tested a few weeks back at Curborough and got 99db at 5KRPM Andy Mac C7 GON 😬 Team Langoustine. Can somebody give me a safe procedure for removing the front discs on my SLR. I guess take off caliper, then remove nut retaining the bearings. Will the bearings fall on the floor ? Gary When set to manual, I think the ignition must be on and the engine might even have to be running to adjust the IACV position. It did take me a while to suss it, but it will definately increment on the screen. Once set, I then switch to 'OFF' and it retains the manually set position. This has been an on going pain in the butt. I have no signifcant run off on my discs, but when I turn my front discs by hand, there is significant changes in friction through the caliper. I am told that it is cementite deposits on the disc giving uneven friction, but no amount of scrubbing with garnet paper has had a significant impact. I am now resigned to skimming the discs or replacing them. I am using Mintex 1144 (I think) pads. Has anybody else had these problems ? Mine is a Standard 2001 VHPD with emerald and R500 modified exhaust without cat. I am making about 203-205BHP and lots of noise. DVA head mods this coming winter I hope. Toratle I have a reasonable Emerald setup for 203BHP 1.8 K. You are welcome to have that. I will dig it out later today and I'll pass it on. Never drill the cage. The 'P' clips clamp around the cage - 30mmdia and the mirror attaches to the fixing holes. I use two per mirror. Works and looks fine. Andy Mac C7 GON 😬 Team Langoustine. Hard Core Prawn here 😬
