I went to a local MOT station after putting the cat back on and changing ECU to closed loop and with PC in hand ready to advance the timing if required. I asked the chap on the phone if my car will need emission test. He said "post 98 - YES". Got there ready with PC, he said. "Oh don't worry about that mate" and didn't bother with a emissions test at all. £40 and 10mins later I have a MOT cert. I live in Wokingham. I need an MOT and am concerned that it may fail on emissions. It is currently running with the 4-2-1 collector and no CAT. I have the Cat and can refit, however I still think it may fail. So. This happened to me. It was fiddly but quite easy. I think I used a self tapper, screwed in place and pulled the remaining bit out. I asked Caterham for help and was told to knock the remaining stub into the diff. it is soft as won't do any harm. I didn't fancy that option. !! I then used a 4-5mm pneumatic fitting and lock tighted in place with a nice long rubber extension. Much better than the original. The Aero is not carbon, it is what ever caterham made them from before. It is semi see thru. The logo's were a few stickers of my company, but have now been removed. It has done 8904 genuine miles. It is a very occasional car. I have only done 3 track days. 1 at Snetterton and 2 at Llandow. I only have 3K miles per year insurance, because I do very few miles. I have a buyer for the plate if the person who takes the car does not want it ( I will give them first refusal). It is negociable. The price is at 19500. My beloved Superlight R is up for sale again. I wanted to keep it, but circumstances are forcing the sale. 2001 Rosso red, factory built, Emerald ECU, over 200BHP, CR500's, Mocal laminova, all the usual carbon bits, Full colour coded factory fitted superlight roll cage, aeroscreen, half doors and tonneau, tillets, quick release, R500 repackable silencer, battery isolator, very good all round condition, not a race car, just a very fast but safe road car. 8.8Kmiles. Graham If you are after the half door used in SL racing, then Caterham don't supply a full set, cause the passenger side are used along side a tonneau/door combo. I enquired and was able to buy from the manufacturer. They also made me a handed one for the passenger side. This was a special on request only. The good news is that they cost me £60 the pair. They advertise in Low Flying. I forget the name but they have a picky of a leather door sill cover in their ad. Hope it helps. I can dig the receipt out if not. Andy Mac C7 GON 😬 Team Langoustine.
