  1. Chris Can I have first refusal on the bonnet? YHM. Thanks Mark
  2. Julian S I bought a Fiamm battery from a local motor factor. Part details: 12V 30Ah 320AEN 45RC 53031 896FS It is the right size, terminal type & fits the Caterham battery box. I've had it a year without any problems. Best bit was the cost £25! HTH Mark
  3. Adam Thanks for helping with the Minilite mystery. Unfortunately there is no part number or manufacturer logo on the visible part of the wheels (they have tyres on at present). I believe (& sincerely hope) the circular flange versions are correct as these came off a 1999 Academy car (should have mentioned this originally). I'm meeting up with some Grads racers tonight so hopefully I can get a definitive decision, otherwise I've bought the wrong wheels - bu66er. Mark
  4. The regs state that the wheels should be Caterham part no: 77360-6"x13". I've got 2 types of Minilite copies. On one set the rear edges of the 'spokes' are straight & the perimeter of the mounting flange (the bit which mates with the hub) is a circle, on the second set the rear edges of the 'spokes' are curved & the perimeter of the mounting flange is castellated (where the spokes join the flange). Can anyone confirm which is the correct type?? Hopefully it is one of the 2 sets I have! Thanks, Mark
  5. Phil Try doing a search, there was a thread on this a few days ago. Mark
  6. Riko Will they fit a live axle (Ital) xflow? Only joking........
  7. tuseries2 Come on, get your priorities right, surely the garden is more important than your Se7en. Just think of those snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells, tulips etc, etc. No contest surely....... Yours....... Alan Tichm......

  9. Apologies for highjacking the original thread (I blame Tyrone!) I'm interested in the wheels, are they from a live axle 7? Which make? Plus, how much? Thanks Mark
  10. Tyrone Every cloud has a silver lining! I've just managed to pick up a spare set of wings & nose cone in black (my colour) from the Grads forum. So the yellow ones are yours for the taking, how's that after black Friday? I reckon you owe me a nice bottle of Morgon (Beaujolais) now! Only joking..... R.Phillips Instead I'm interested in the race wheels, what axle are they off, what make/design are they? & most importantly what cost are they?? Thanks Mark
  11. Tyrone Sorry I misunderstood the bit about your brother's Superlight, but to be fair it could have been interpreted either way & my mitigating circumstances were a pint & a half of Bass. I'm still envious of your Super Sprint (& your bro's Superlight). Not guilty on the dampers, especially if they didn't work!! What's your fav French wine? We better end this banter, we seem to have hijacked this thread....... Mark
  12. Tyrone Funny you should mention the MG club, I've been a member for over 25 yrs & got my badge to prove it last year. I've seen the light, sold both my Midgets & have now resigned, so I'm fully committed to Se7ens. Should have done it years ago. Sorry to hear you've had a bad day, 15mins to go & I've escaped any disasters. Shiraz is not my cup of tea! I'm a Pinot Noir or Gamay man (French wine is King in my book). I'm green with envy that you have a Superlight, makes my 100bhp xflow look sad. Why do you need new GF wings, you have those luverly CF jobbies. Tell you what, I'll swap the yellow wings for your CF ones. Perhaps you won't buy that one..... No hard feelings? Mark
  13. Sorry Tyrone Timing is everything!!! The posts need to be timed to the second. It reminds me of what happens in F1 sometimes when two (or more) drivers post the same time, even when measured to 1/1000 sec. Mark
  14. I'm interested in the cycle wings, how much are you looking for? Thanks Mark
  15. Simon I would be wary of changing the A-frame to axle bushes from black 'rubber' to Polyflex. If you think about how the rear suspension works, the A-frame is constrained to move through an arc, the centre of which is a line through the forward fixing positions. Whereas each end of the axle can move up & down independently depending on which wheel hits a bump or whether the chassis tilts relative to the axle when you are cornering left or right, hence the axle pivots roughly around its centre point relative to the chassis. This is where the A-frame mounts to the axle, therefore the bushes must allow the axle to pivot/twist relative to the a-frame. I suspect if you fit 'stiffer/harder' bushes a breakage of the A-frame or the corresponding axle mounted bracket would result. I have no direct experience of this happening, just working from 'theory'. HTH Mark PS: I must get back to you on the hubs/discs/calipers.
  16. Asklepios Because I am a bit of a lazy s*d, can you post addresses of relevant sites. Thanks Mark
  17. Charlie You could be right on the abrasion resistance and chin bars. It may well be that there are other features which are specific to the application (bikes or cars). I would like to know what tests the helmets are subjected to during the BS6658 testing. It is interesting to note that the same British Standard is used to test both 'types' of helmet. If I had more time I would obtain a copy of BS6658 to find out more about the tests used. Mark
  18. Charlie No, I don't think so. If you look at the 2004 MSA blue book, section: Q, Topic: 10. Crash helmets. Paragraph: 10.3.1 Standards (page: 244). It lists all the appropriate standards. Helmets to BS6658-85 Type A are suitable for all MSA events. If you want to compete in International events as well as MSA events your helmet needs to comply with: BS6658-85 Type A/FR. I think the different between the two refers to the flame retardant lining (FR). Incidentally I haven't put this to the test thro' scrutineering, but I intend to try after some more thorough research. Mark
  19. Flaps Have you looked at HJC helmets, normally available from motorcycle outlets. I bought one (ZF7) a couple of years ago for trackdays. It is full face, light, I find it very comfortable & it cost about £110. It is approved to BS6658:1985 Type A & according to the MSA blue book is eligible for all MSA events. I plan to use it for Grads racing this year. It does not have a flame retardant lining. The website is www.hjchelmets.com. HTH Mark PS: No, I don't work for HJC.........
  20. Matt I'm interested in the SPA mirrors if Dannyboy does not take them. Alternatively, Dannyboy Would you be intested in selling the SPA mirrors on, if you take the 'Brooklands' package? Thanks, Mark
  21. I used a Fiamm battery on my xflow, it's been on a year & no probs. Details are: 12v 30Ahr 320AEN 45RC 53031 896FS Mine cost about £25, but it was from a trade motor factor. I think Varta may do them as well, but I don't know the part number. Good luck! Mark
  22. Simon YHM regarding: calipers & discs. I'm interested if Ferrino does not buy them. Thanks Mark
  23. Skip Thanks for the info. How much are you looking for? Mark
  24. Skip What is the condition of the exhaust system? How much are you looking for? Thanks Mark
  25. Graham I've decided not to buy the bar because it may not fit the cage I am planning to get for my car. Feel free to step into my shoes! I've notified Martin by e-mail. Mark
