  1. I found the Halfords tool kit to be very good value for money. Ratchets aren't covered under the lifetime guarantee, but a replacement mechanism for my 1/2" ratchet when it seized up/wore out was only £3 or so with a trade card. Only thing is that I've broken my plastic case so I have to lug everything around with a bungee cord holding it all together. And I'm not paying £40 for a new case from a seller on eBay who is cashing in on the whole kits being £100.
  2. Bit of an impulse buy this as I also bought two Tillets off a guy and I couldn't resist the Soft Bits for Sevens tonneau, so I bought that too. Only problem is that I'm a bit of a stubborn idiot because my track-only Caterham has a full cage and the tonneau doesn't fit too well around the front part of the cage. Durr! 😔 So I've decided that, rather than keep the lovely tonneau, I'll get a more useful to me outdoor cover instead. The tonneau is in very, very good condition. It fits non-SV cars, has the pockets on both sides for Tillets and also has three zips, so you could always use them as half-doors or a half tonneau to cover the passenger side or any sort of combination that you wish. I haven't got any pictures of it at the moment, but will get some on Friday. Basically, it's the same tonneau as on the yellow Caterham on this Soft Bits for Sevens page, except with zips for the half-door parts. I'm after £120 for it. Location is Suffolk, around Ipswich. Cheers.
  3. Are the wheels located in Harrold near Bedford, Simon? Thanks.
  4. Hey Paul! Don't worry, I'm just as bad. I took off my alternator belt over a month ago to replace it. Caterham is still in bits in the garage as my workhorse needed some attention recently! ☹️ I was on the way back from Brands yesterday with a pal in his shed of a red 205 diesel. Luckily we didn't pull alongside the 7 otherwise I probably would have thrown a wobbly in excitement and scared the pilot of it in rush hour traffic.
  5. Spotted today, Wednesday 4th November, about 4.30pm. Stuck in slow-moving traffic with hood down and the weather threatening rain! Had a Lotus 7 Club sticker on I think.
  6. Hi Kenny. I am very interested in your wheels but I have said to Simon that I will take his set in a couple of weeks time. If I've got the space for more wheels then I will get in touch with you. How much are you asking for them anyway? Thanks!
  7. Ahar! Very interested. How much are you after for them? And any ideas how much they weigh? Thinking about using a courier you see. Thank you!
  8. As above please. I need more wheels to add to my collection! Ideally want some without tyres as I've got quite a few that need mounting and also 6x13s please. Condition not massively important, as long as they are cheap, straight and De Dion fitment. I'm based in Suffolk but can pay for a courier or possibly do some road tripping if they are en route to somewhere for me. Thanks!
  9. Can you not weld in another lambda boss for your wideband sensor and plug stick a bung in it if you decide that you don't need it after sorting out your MOT?
  10. I hate chucking stuff away and tend to horde things just in case someone out there can make use of it, even if it has no monetary value to me. I have a Super 7 seat and a 19" CRT computer monitor up for grabs in case anyone can make use of them. Otherwise, they'll forever stay in my horde!
  11. Fitting a couple of spare belts and tucking them out of the way is exactly what I was planning on doing. It's a neat tip that I read about via a search. Car is track-only and I'm still learning to drive a Caterham so quite likely that I'll be exiting a track not via the pit lane! 🙆🏻
  12. That's exactly what I thought John, as I had done a search on the forum for the best way to remove the belt. I'm now thinking that my pipes are routed in an awkward fashion around the chassis tubes. Think I will rereoute them to make changing the belt a bit easier in the future!
  13. Thanks for the help Steve. I think I've resigned to the fact that I've got to borrow some bigger spanners and undo the Apollo pipes. As you say, the pipes go through the belt. I'm pretty sure I am missing the adjuster bolt yes. Looking from underneath the car (had the front of the car balanced on my trailer - H&S eat your heart out!), the lower mounting for the alternator sits on a little block with a thread and no bolt! There is a little bracket that should be where the adjuster bolt head should poke out that you wind in and out to move the alternator to adjust the tension. I've got the alternator swinging about freely now as I've slackened both of the top mounting bolts as well as the lower one that's bolted to the adjuster. I was going to take some pictures but I'd just plain had enough of trying to persuade the belt to come off in one piece rather than cheating and cutting it.
  14. Just to revisit this thread, I've finally gotten the chance earlier today to have a look at the belt in more detail. And I've hit several brick walls! ☹️ 1. First, the belt that is currently on the car is actually 4PK736? I'm going to have a hunt around to see what car(s) this came off, but any heads up will be welcome. 2. I'm missing the adjuster bolt. Any ideas of the bolt dimensions before i just ram any old bolt in and ruin the thread? 😬 3. Finally, how the heck do you get the old belt off and new belt on? The pipes to/from the Apollo just get in the way. I've undone the big hose clip completely so that I can lift the tank and also removed the braided pipe that goes to the cam covers and I still couldn't get anywhere, no matter how hard I wiggled. Might have to take off the big oil hoses to make life a bit easier. Any hints and tips welcome.
  15. Good old French build quality! Brilliant cars the 306 Rallyes. Enjoy it.
  16. The previous owner of my Caterham did something very similar to you just over a year ago, when he converted from 1.4 Supersport engine to 1.8K. He bought a cheap low-mileage Elise engine (118bhp) for £250 I think he said and spent money (maybe £2k?) on a Jenveys+Emerald package from Dave Walker, got it mapped and it came up with 165bhp. It's quite peppy! I'd imagine it'd be even better with your Supersport cams in it?
  17. You could also try Loctite 5699 Flange Sealant, which you can pick up from your local Halfords.
  18. Drums on the back or discs Bill? Sounds like inadequate rear brakes. Could be misadjusted shoes in the case of drums or seized up load compensator valve on discs, or just worn out/rusted up discs and pads. Or maybe the back-seat passenger giving you a hoof from behind, of course! 😬
  19. Might possibly be the wishbone rear bushes, also known as P-bushes. I've had... 6 306s now (I'm a mug for cheap French cars! 😬) and one of them had the problem where the whole bottom arm was shifting around when I was torquing up the wheel bolts! 😔 From what you describe though, as others have suggested, I'd have a look at the track rod end first. If you sit in the car with the wheels on the ground and move the steering wheel left and right quickly, does there feel like "slack" in the steering?
  20. Good to meet you and Petra yesterday, Paul! Glad that the spare seat will be going to a good home. See you soon!
  21. Aha, that's exactly what I wanted but couldn't think of where I'd read about it. Thanks!
  22. Need some help from the POBC. My other half can't fully reach the pedals in the Caterham, even when the Tillett is at full extension on it's adjustable runners. Can you get like expanding foam or some other stuff that moulds into the shape of your body? Bit like kart seats? Or am I dreaming? I suppose that we could resort to using some pillows or old cushions or something, but it would be nice to have something that fits properly or which is moulded to her. Any help? Cheers.
  23. Dave, I haven't got any wiper arms unfortunately, just the wiper motor mechanism and the reservoir with pump. Let me know if you still want those bits. Windscreen provisionally sold.
  24. Hello folks. My first post in the For Sale section. Drove my Caterham in anger for the first time today and I need new tyres and have loads of stuff that I won't ever make use of given to me with the car. Still new to the scene, so if my prices are wildly off course, feel free to prod me in the right direction! Parts are located in Suffolk, around the Ipswich area. Might be able to post small items but collection preferred on the bigger bits. Pair of side screens from my 1997 car. Complete with mirrors. I wouldn't say that they are in mint condition but should be useable at least. Driver's side has a cutout to clear the cage. Pictures here: doors1, doors2, doors3, doors4, doors5, doors6, doors7. £80 the pair Sold; payment received Hood from the same car. I've freed off the zip for the rear window and the velcro bits are still intact. Axle stands not included! 😬 Pictures here: hood1, hood2, hood3, hood4, hood5, hood6. £50 Windscreen. The glass has a great big crack in it, so only really useful for the frame and stanchions. Pictures here: screen1, screen2, screen3. £30 Sold Headrest to bolt onto cage. Picture here. £10 Windscreen washer reservoir, complete with pump. Not tested the pump myself as I was too eager to tear it out! Picture here. £5 Sold; payment received Wiper motor setup. All mounting bolts, nuts and seals included, and also the washer jet nozzle. Just need wipers to finish. Worked when I accidentally drove around on track with the spindles whirring away! Can also include the relevant relay if you can tell me which one it is! Picture here. £20 Sold; payment received Thanks. Edited by - Mankee on 10 Oct 2009 15:01:46
  25. Don't know what they are called, but I have one of these looking for a new home, whether you need a temporary seat or a more permanant perch. Not in the best of condition, hence freebie, but comes with both brackets (can't see the top one in the pic). Cracks in the fibreglass etc. but still useable. Collection from Ipswich area of Suffolk, donation to NtL would be .
